(Original Air Date: 11/27/07) Dr. Phil follows up with a family torn apart when the mother was banned from her only son’s wedding. The bride-to-be, Michelle, said she’d rather burn in hell than let her future mother-in-law, Jane, attend the ceremony, and her fiancé, Jay, stood behind her decision. This sent the entire family into a tailspin, with the best man resigning, the aunt disowning the groom and the wedding planner on alert to call 911 if Jane showed up. The big day has come and gone, and everyone returns to update Dr. Phil with the latest. Were they able to bury the hatchet before the wedding? Jane has gone through a rollercoaster of emotions, and Dr. Phil finds out what has her so mad at him, she even wrote him a scathing letter one week after her appearance. Has Jane done a 180-degree turn since? Has Michelle stopped her “campaign of hate mail” as Jane called it and opened up her arms to her husband’s mother? Share your thoughts, join the discussion.

WHY IS THIS WOMAN BOTHERING WITH THEM?

Please, being banned from the wedding was the last straw. These two are complete twits who don't deserve her in their lives. The son has no backbone whatsoever and the girl needs to grow up, what is she, 13?

I think they are both being childish. I also know what its like to go into a family knowing that your not being excepted. My husband and i married young and his mother was against it. I could never do anything good enough according to my MIL. I have been married to my hubby for 19 years and in that time, she has called me names and my children overheard bad things she said about me. When I told my hubby he said "she would never say something like that". Well we finally had it out and I basically said that if she didn't like certian things about me That it wasn't her problem it was her sons,and I would like to get along with her but I don't have to. (I have never been rude to her or done anything on purpose to upset her) most of her opinion was on things between her son and I. Now we talk to each other and I can deal with her, but we are not best friends.

Michelle is a brat

I'm sorry but that young man only has one mother and could have many wives. That girl is a little brat in my opinion and I strongly believe that given half a chance she would be welcomed by the grooms mothers. And why is it that these young men can just turn their back on the mother that wiped their asses, kissed their booboos and cleaned up their vomit? That little girl needs to get a clue that that young man wouldn't be so wonderful if not for that mom and instead of being a brat she should be saying thank youfor raising my husband. Andthe young man needs to tell his mom that he is sorry. That if we moms can't tell you when youare messing up who will? We are not here to be your friend and to agree with everything you do. We are here to care for you, teach you, nurture you and guide you to a productive adulthood. So, thank your mother you little brat.

Its funny how Michelle acts like she is some hottie that has it all but the more I watch the show and hear her ungracious voice I cant help but feel what an ugly ugly person she is - and unfortunitly Jay is as ugly now too.

IF I were faced with such things from ANY of my children it would be the last time they EVER see my face ever. Change all phone numbers, relocate and drop off the earth. Then let them wonder. At some point in time - maybe no tommorow or the year after but it always happens - you need something from that parent. And then their gone - not passed away but gone so as to never be treated like that again.

There is almost (there are very very few occasions I can think of) no reason to ever treat any of your parents like that - ever.

I completely agree. They are two of the most ungracious, ugly people we will ever see on Dr. Phil. I have kids and I understand that you love them regardless, but if one of mine treated me like that, they wouldn't be part of my life. Guess Michelle is so proud of herself. She has turned a son against his mother and she contri=ols the situation now. What must her mother think. I would be so ashamed if my child acted this way toward ANY other person, let alone their future family. As an employer, I would question their mental stability after watching this show.

She is acting like a Brat

I am sorry but I have been sitting here watching and I can not believe the wife is so selfish. I would be worried if my husband treated his mother like that. To me it shows a total disrespect for her and if he is willing to do that to his mother there is nothing to stop him from doing that to his wife. His wife needs to grow up and stop making everything about her. If she does not want to be around his mother then fine but he needs to stand up to his wife and see his mother.

I don't know how things could be fixed unless the bride would learn how to respect other peoples feelings! When the children come along, it will only get worse because they have started out on the wrong path. The mother always holds the key to the gate.

I to am a mother in law dealing with practically the same situation. Unfortunately, a child is involved now and things haven't changed. I feel for this mother.

IT'S THE MOTHERS' FAULT!!

Michele's mom raised one ugly NASTY vindictive selfish malicious lying low-life creepy thing. It doesn't matter who she married - she was never going to allow any man to have a relationship with anyone other than her.

Jay's mom raised a coward who can't and refuses to stand on his own two feet, refuses to be a grownup and can't say "I" only "we" -- he is so lacking in self-confidence and strength that he refuses to act like a man but instead allows Michele to cut him off from his entire family from his mom to his grandma. He's pathetically immature and weirdly dependent on Michele - he sees her viciousness as a strength not a negative. He better pray nightly on hands and knees that she doesn't take a similar violent dislike to his employer.

LOL -- did Jay dare to say that he's his own person???? Oh my - there's a reason he glanced to Michele when he said it -- he needed to clear it with her and then she took the ball and explained his position for him!! HEL-LO????? LOL -- Jay - you are your own person when you can speak for yourself and Michele doesn't have to!
