Dr. Phil and Robin invite you to celebrate the season with their sons, Jay and Jordan, and Jay's wife, Erica. The McGraws share some amazing gifts with deserving families who fill the audience, most of whom were affected by the recent Southern California wildfires. First, Howie Mandel and the models from the hit show Deal or No Deal bring some cool presents to put under the Christmas tree. Then, Matt returned from his honeymoon cruise to discover that he and his wife, Danelle's, first home perished in the California fires. And Ruby turned on the news and watched helplessly as her home burned down. Don't miss the wonderful surprises Dr. Phil and Robin have to help them get back on their feet! Plus, Marie Osmond makes a special appearance, and Robin reveals several beauty products that make great stocking stuffers. And, as national spokespersons for Toys for Tots, Dr. Phil and Robin help the organization kick off its 60th anniversary with some surprise visits to needy families in Virginia. Talk about the show here.

Find out what happened on the show.

C'mon, Dr. Phil.  Poor Matt and Ruby return from their honeymoon cruise only to find their first home destroyed by fire.  Give us a break.  I'm 65 and have never been on a cruise so forgive me for not feeling all that sorry for them.  When I came back from my honeymoon .. oh, wait a minute .. that's right, I didn't have a honeymoon because my husband was in the Air Force and we spent the first 1 1/2 years in Germany.  It took us over two years to buy our first home.  That home was in California, but it was 42 years ago and only cost us $17,000.  Give someone a home who has children and are living in a car because the job they have doesn't pay them enough.  Those are the people I really feel sorry for.  By the way, I no longer live in Calirfornia..moved to Illinois 43 years ago.
so you're 65 and have never been on a cruise - so what?  so you're going to hold it against someone who took a cruise for their honeymoon?  what is wrong with people like you??  just because you didn't or couldn't do something - doesn't mean those that could are bad - that's just mean spirited!!  happy holidays to you, too!!  try losing everything you own in a fire - THEN come talk to me and see how sorry WE feel for you THEN!!

12/13 Dr. Phil and Robin's Holiday Special

Those of you on here that are complaining about Dr. Phil giving away nice presents to the people on the show, and not giving you anything because you have it so rough: Since you posted on the message board, obviously you have a computer and internet service and a house to live in. Since you watched the show, you obviously have a television and furniture. These people lost their homes and all their possessions in a fire, maybe you aren't as bad off as you think...

pity party

Quote From: vielbaum

I agree their were way to many gifts for each person.  Their are many of us who would have given anything to be in that audience.  Like we ever had a chance.  For the average person struggling with money and personal problems this show was very depressing.  Do you really think we enjoy watching people receive thousands of dollars worth of gifts when we can't afford to buy even one.  I watched this show last year and this is the last christmas give away i will watch.  Not to mention our teenage children watch this and make us look like dirt because we couldn't dream of affording one of these items.  I to am in need.  I won't bother you with my story...just an average struggling person
so many people who are feeling sorry for themselves.  if you put more energy into doing something to CHANGE the way things are - instead of thinking you are owed sympathy - maybe things would be better for you!!

Your Feeling's are so true. And I am sure that the kind Dr.&His Family would love to help everyone.

Although this is Hollywood we are talking about  Not Dr.Phil  He has guide-lines he has to follow.

I would have loved to be there to.Until I realized we wouldnt have been able to pay the Taxes on all that "STUFF" Think about it " It's just STUFF.........Thats why our children all think they have to have everything, is because it's pushed in there faces everywhere !  So here is a little tidbit, that may help.

And this is why it feel's so bad when we cant give to those we love! Is because it feel's good to give.

THERE IS A TREMENDOUS HAPPINESS IN MAKING OTHERS HAPPY,DESPITE OUR OWN SITUATIONS. SHARED GRIEF IS HALF THE SARROW,BUT HAPPINESS WHEN SHARED,IS DOUBLED.IF YOU WANT TO FEEL RICH,JUST COUNT ALL THE THINGS YOU HAVE THAT MONEY CANT BUY. 'TODAY IS A GIFT,THAT IS WHY IT IS CALLED"THE PRESENT"  (Origin unknown)

12/13 Dr. Phil and Robin's Holiday Special

Quote From: shmigelz

I mean its all fine and dandy to sit in a comfortable chair infront of 10 million people and tell them all how they are getting all these FREE GIFTS worth thousands of dollars each, givin free to them by all these companies everywhere.... Each and everyone of those people in the audience is already extremely fortunate and the Dr.Phil family.. well come on we all know they're aren't going to bed hungry at night....

BUT seriously my point is this. Dr. Phil has REPEATLY PREACHED how he was grown up in a broken home with a alcoholic as a dad, no money, little/no food, etc. A basic HELL... He's not the only one of course but still that's not easy... But even that is HEAVEN compared to all these kids in AFRICA who are dying from AIDS by the age of 2 yrs old or being born with AIDS, simply because the drugs couldnt be afforded to be brought there, or there is not enough money to send the drugs there... Even if the drugs themselves are free. So many kids/families/etc live in MUD huts! with flies all over then all day long! No/little food ALL day long! No medication/drugs EVER for things we would easily get treated for.. If the DR. Phil show and/or his family who just LOVE to give free gifts away on TV.. How about this.

Why NOT take all the gifts and either say 'we only want money' or 'send the gifts to Africa' or 'Asia' or any poor country where the little kids/babies barely get food nevermind FREE GIFTS!! The holidays are about GIVING to others less fortunate... I mean yea this yr Dr.Phil says we're giving to families in need in Southern California affected by the fires.. But come on really, either they have home insurance AND in the end get a BIGGER/NICER house then what they had before! and/'or they live in Souther California so they gotta have money anyways!!!

So if Dr. Phil really wants to KEEP IT REAL and ALSO HIS FAMILY WANNA SPEAK UP AND OWN UP, how about the ALL go to Africa and work for free in some poor village for ONLY 30 days, and bring all the free xmas gifts/money/ and medical drugs/supplies/ and heck why not FOOD to make these families WHO really need it, HAPPY!

Its only 1 CHRISTMAS in all the Christmas's in the world that we celebrate every single/damn year.. Your wanna step up, well there you go. STEP UP!

Helping Children  is what it is all about. They are the future. If we dont get the Children of the U.S. Fed and clothed, than there well be no future for those we wish to help in other country's. That is why we pay taxes.......Even though most of our tax money's are just line'n someone's pocket's.

Time better spent

Quote From: suchamuch

Dear Dr Phil and Robin, and anyone reading this,

If it were going to be Philmas, or Robinmas, how would you feel if, in order to avoid mentioning your names, people everywhere, over the airwaves, radio, television, in newspapers and in written advertising, began to put a vague name to your birthday and called it, for example, the upcoming 'feast', without telling anyone your name?  If one of you had been dragged through the mud, slapped around, spit on, battered mercilessly, and then crucified (that must have hurt SO much!), in order to save one, ten, or ten thousand lives, wouldn't you like to be remembered BY NAME on your birthday?

In psychological terms, it is a well-known fact that to each human being, the sweetest sound is that of his/her own name.  When we want to make someone feel important, we care enough to ask someone how they like their name spelled, and how they like their name pronounced, because the intention is to show respect and show that we recognize that he/she is unique and, as such, precious and special.

Why deny Jesus that?  He is both true man and true God, and has feelings, probably ten thousand times more than we do, because He is PURE LOVE.  I very much disagree when people who call themselves Christian, designate Jesus' birthday under the vague, rather commercial, rather entertainment-oriented term of 'holiday'.

Because of this, I hope that if you cannot change it for this year, at least next year, and the other years after that, you will honour your Christian backbone (spine) by calling this program, centered around giving and generosity, the Dr Phil and Robin Christmas Special.  It's only right, and there shouldn't be anyone feeling left out, because THE important person, in the Name of Whom we go to such lengths to please others and make them feel loved, is Jesus, and He is entitled to His birthday, whatever religion is being practised by shoppers, viewers, or anyone else.

Hug and God bless you both for all the good that you do, and give you always a growing faith.
Alex xx : ) (cross)

Alex,

Wouldn't the time you spent writing about what something is called or not called

have been better spent feeding the poor, helping the sick, or helping with any of the other really

important life and death problems going on?

All you ended up doing is sounding like a control freak.

Giveaways

Why is it that you don't give away some of your prizes to the viewers at home? Only the ones in your audience are worthy of giveaways? If it weren't for the people at home watching your show there would be no show! Because they can afford to get baby sitters and time off work and tickets to fly to your set? We take the time to watch your show at a certain time or tivo it for later. I haven't a clue why you don't add an extra ten to twenty "gifts" to give away online. But I wish you would explain your theory.

I don't like the fact that Ellen is gay, but I like the fact that she gives the viewers at home a chance to win prizes from her show. That makes me think she cares for the viewers at home as much as her "in house" audience. Which makes me watch her show, even though my husband disapproves. I hope you would consider doing the same and spreading the joy to those who can't afford the plane ticket and the baby sitter.

12/13 Dr. Phil and Robin's Holiday Special

Quote From: emosnake

...so how many times has YOUR house been destroyed by a fire?

  1. I have never been a victim, although my Sister was.Not by wild fire's just a freak thing. There is alot of history lost in house fire's. Thing's that these gift's will not replace.  This lifted there spirit's but will not bring back there child's favorite toy or the photo of there parent's wedding. Hopefully they have family that has some of the same photo's that they lost ,it is the time for sharing. That's what family is all about...........I Myself didnt let my teen Daughter see the show,She would have felt sad about the (THING'S) other's have. And as I have said to her many time's, "THEY ARE JUST THING'S even though She know's this,it's in there lives everyday on T.V. And it's hard for them to realize this (STUFF) Dosent grow on tree's........lol Remember that  line?       I'M SURE MOST KNOW THE FEELING WELL, IF THEY HAVE EVER HAD TO STRUGGLE.  DR.PHIL AND ROBIN I AM SURE YOUR HEART'S ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE. DONT LET THE REST OF US BRING YOU DOWN. MAYBE YOU COULD HAVE AN AFTER THE SHOW SPECIAL,FOR THOSE THAT HAVE THE GUTT'S TO GO ON T.V. AND KNOCK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE TRIED TO DO.  REMEMBER "YOU CANT SAVE THE WORLD"  ; )      MERRY CHRISTMAS

Living in Southern Calif 'doesnot' mean you are rich . In alot of cases,we would have more if we didnt..

Calif is the Gimmy state were if you dont have alot then you are nothing. Just ask the children at our school's that live in the small town's that hardly see a penny for there school's and the parent's buy the paper and pencils. Have the fundraser's for field trip's.......Parent's make there band uniform's.

These thing's do happen in Southern Calif.  Our town is living proof!
