Elderly/poor persons: Easy made victims

Quote From: kittykabuka

Just today a friend of mine told me that her girlfriend listed her room for rent on the Internet and a woman answered the ad, telling her she would send more money then she was asking for, but if she could send some of it back to her so she can make her move here Thank goodness the woman was smart enough to know it was a scam and told the woman to forget it It just doesn't stop.  They will find anyone out there to take the bait Nothing in life is free and anyone asking to have you send money back to them is not being honest.  Then I watch Dr. Phil and sure enough it's about Scams Be safe and be sure to tell your elderly family members and friends not to fall for them.

It is my understanding that the elderly and poor members of our society are the ones that fall victim to these scammers, scams.

Some never recover from their falls of trust.

I feel we need more trust in the land to begin with...Yet, I don't see how it will ever happen when some of the world have decided that the ill fate of others that they have personally taken hostage, is not in anyway their fault...

Perhaps these victims creating folks own personal judgment day before God will shower them with a different understanding.

We Are All Blessed

Love, Light and Peace

Tonie

Get Rich Scam

I have been a victim of these scams.  I am 58 yrs old with what I consider good intelligence and I became of victim of one of these almost 2 yrs ago.  I got an email from a lady telling me that she saw my resume on monster.com and that my experience matched what they were looking for. I have been a bank teller in the past mind you.  Well, she told me that they have international clients that accept insurance premiums from the states and needs someone to cash these checks and I would keep 10% of the check for my work on it.  I received a 2900.00 check and was to send the difference of 10% via Western Union to Europe.  Some of the things in it, were red flags but what I kept going back to was the fact that I understood only employers could puruse your resume on that site, so it must be legal.   One of my sons is a federal agent and I didn't say anything to him, I wanted to show him I had a great job going once it got going.  My bank told me that they had been getting at least 5 of these a week.  My case went to the feds but since it went out of the states there wasn't anything that they could do.  I, today, get inundated with emails about this kind of stuff all the time and my email address is only 3 months old!!  So how they get my email address is unknown to me!  But my story needs to be told to get the population to put a person's story behind what Dr Phil has said - this is real!

The Kid that threw out Robert Kiyosaki'S name

I have been reading and studying what Robert Kiyosaki teaches for the last few years and have never once read or seen any place where he says that "flipping" is a good idea.  On the contrary, he teaches against it even though he does it himself, because the bottom line is it's a gamble.  Anyone who would buy a piece of property sight unseen should not be in the real estate game.  I am very grateful that Robert Kiyosaki has taken upon the task of teaching people to be rich.  Without his help I would not be where I am at, and my future is looking very bright.

Diane Find a new Man!

I just wanted to tell Diane that was on the show, to get rid of her "just good friend" that won't get a job and won't commit. She has been seeing him for 3 years, and if he does not love her enough to stabalize his life for her, then he never will. Also he is calling her a "friend" on national TV. Diane needs to move on and find a real man.

Diane you are a beautiful woman and self-supporting.I hope you received a lot of dating offers after being on Dr.Phil's show. Good luck to you!

Dr. Phil is a talk show host!  He is also a man who  usually gives the type of advice that makes you think "Oh yeah, that's right!"  He also happens to be a Psychologist with a license to "hang out a shingle" in Texas.  He could not open a private practice in California unless he licensed himself with that state.  He states that he has no desire to return to private practice.  He is NOT praciticing without a license because he is NOT practicing.

Defending Dr. Phil

I have followed Dr. Phil since his Oprah days and I continue to enjoy most of his shows.  I look forward to more great shows.   Dr. Phil has helped, many people in his private practice days and via this forum but still  he has his detractors accusing him of either malpractice or of not being a doctor at all.  I know Dr. Phil addressed this on this show, but sadly he was attacked again AFTER this episode by people who should know better.

Recently "The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet"  spent nearly 10 minutes criticizing Dr. Phil, claiming he's NOT a doctor and never has been, is an entertainer "pretending to be a doctor", and so on and so forth.  Ironically, this came about from a "legal" segment regarding the issues around Brittany Spears.  You would think as so-called "legal experts" and "investigative reporters" they would be careful to research their claims before airing them on national television.

Both regulars on the show, Geraldo Rivera who reported many criminal issues in his career and a former judge (can't think of her name right now) give their own advice on legal issues on this show.  These two SLANDERED Dr. Phil with their outrageous claims that he was never a doctor and, in their words, "find it sad that he is manipulating the public" into thinking he's a doctor.  Interesting . . . this judge wants us to respect her opinion based on her many years on the bench, yet she refuses to acknowledge that Dr. Phil is a real doctor who has retired from private practice and has the right to retain his title as "DR" and continue to give us his expert advice.  It's even funnier that Geraldo Rivera who has NEVER practiced law in his life claims he IS an expert on the law and we should listen to his advice on such matters.

The sadly funny conclusion to all this is that on that Thursday or Friday show in which they predicted that an "outside person" who be given "control" over Brittany because as she is an adult  and "No judge would give this kind of custodial responsibility back to a parent to whom a child has had conflict."  The assured us as "experts" that that would not happen . . . Hhhhhmmmm . . . Isn't that exactly what the judge did just several days after that asinine proclamation by Rivera and that retired judge and isn't that what Dr. Phil himself had predicted would happen knowing what decent and caring parents Brittany has.  Brittany is now in custodial care of her father.

I personally think the entire crew of The Morning Show ought to issue an ON AIR apology for their slanderous comments and Dr. Phil should demand it.  This wasn't some trash tabloid magazine, but a nationally televisied show with respectable reporters and so-called experts who need to show some respect to the REAL experts out there!

With Respect,
-Steve

I like DrP and his show and I think that he has helped a lot of people with a lot of good advice, both guests and viewers. I think that anyone in the business is open to critisizm. (And we know that it doesn't always have to be the truth) I think because of DrP's celebrity status and his personality, there are people out there who want to find something negative about him and start rumors, etc.... One thing I will say is I think the shows have changed and are geared more toward ratings, but after all it is a t.v. show and t.v. shows are all about ratings. I think perhaps DrP is trying to find a happy medium between a good talk show with advice for people who need help in thier lives and also make sure that the ratings stay up. It's possible that he could go to far to keep the ratings up if he's not careful. I like the shows even with all the drama and emotions and sometimes extreme situations. DrP manages to come up with help or advice for even the most stubborn guests. I have noticed that sometimes even when people come to the show for help, they occasionally don't take the help offered.
