(Original Air Date: 01/17/07) Most kids dream of growing up and moving away from home, but what happens when your adult children still haven’t flown the coop? Amanda, her husband, Mike, and their baby are all living in her parents’ tiny three-bedroom apartment. Amanda’s sister, Heather, says Mike and Amanda are so disrespectful to her mom, Brenda, and stepdad, Mike, that they need to be kicked to the curb! Heather says Amanda is lazy, and Mike lost his job as a correctional officer when he was convicted of selling drugs to the inmates! Brenda says she can’t bear the thought of her daughter and grandchild living on the street. Can Dr. Phil get her to cut the purse strings? Then, Brianne has been with her boyfriend, Greg, for nine years and says he’s the biggest mooch she’s ever met. Greg has never paid rent and admits he’s had between 50 and 75 jobs in the last six years. Brianne’s Aunt Terri says Greg is a lazy loser, and she’s sick of his excuses. Will Greg be able to get on his feet, or should Brianne cut her losses and move on?  Tell us what you think.

Find out what happened on the show.

Get Your Act Together

Those lazy men need to get the hell out of the house and get a taste of life. I wouldn't stand for anything like that taking place in my home. Especially when there is absolutely no respect for the person who is paying the bills in the house. Go to the court house and get an eviction notice and serve it on their lazy butts and they will have to go. That stupid guy who had a good job and started selling drugs to inmates at the prison where he worked deserves to be homeless. He sure didn't use what little brain he must have when he did that. His wife should divorce him and get on with her life. He is nothing but trouble. What is he thinking saying $8.00 an hour isn't enough? No it really isn't enough in this day and age, but ya gotta start someplace. What does he expect a high paying job, when he is a felon? Then acting as though that apartment is partly his, because every now and then he goes out and buys groceries and is paying his way. Come on, get real you stupid no good piece of crap. And the other guy at the end of the show....Dr. Phil where do you dig these people up? I'd be ashamed to come on a national TV show if I was that dense. Who would hire that guy anyway? They both are losers. Too bad we don't have the draft anymore. That is where boys learn how to be real men., in the service. Can't go crying to mama then. Hey Lazy Boys, did ya ever think about our men and women in the service who are fighting for YOUR freedom. Just how much do you think they make per hour? You two are sorry specimens of men.

Look at what that one guy is teaching his little boy.......NOTHING ONLY HOW TO BE A LAZY GOOD FOR NOTHING TAKING UP SPACE ON THE EARTH AND NOT CARING WHO IS PAYING FOR HIM TO EAT AND HAVE A ROOF OVER HIS HEAD. BOTH OF THESE LITTLE BOYS SHOULD REALLY BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. There is nothing wrong with the wife wanting to stay home and take care of her little boy, but when you need to help out, you need to get out there and get a job too.

Take care of your responsiblities

When i was 17 i got pregnant and i married the father of my child, since we were married we moved out and my husband joined the military just to support me and our child, And i was 17!!

Even with a record you can still get a job at Taco bell they don't even do background checks, and i have seen people with more kids then one make it on that salary, maybe it is not the best life or the life you want but you have your own place to live with your own rules.

I have a cousin who is just like this and Her baby's dad is just like the guy on the show!

YOU GUYS NEED TO GROW UP AND STOP LIVING OFF YOUR PARENTS!!!

Lived through this

Quote From: mzsnoopy

I am the oldest of three children.  We are all grown adults but me and my middle sister have sit back and watch my youngest sister take advantage of our folks.  My sister is close to 35 and has 4 children which she has successfully used the kids as a bargaining tool.

She has not been able to keep a job and has a drug problem.  She was living with your children at my folks 3 bedroom small home.  I have came over and caught her smoking pot on my parents front porch, and heres the kicker my mom has been in recovery for over 3 years.  I told mom about it but she did not want to do anything because of the grandchildren.

My sister finally moved out of the home after her boyfriend got out of jail he was in jail for credit card theft, he broke into my folks home the last time they took a vacation.  My folks are both retired and loved going to the coast for at least a month every year.  But after what happened last time they are don't want it to happen again.

In the last year I and my sister have watched my folks age about 20 years.  We don't know what to do all we can do is sit back watch.  I called my mom and told her to watch the show but because it hit so close to home she couldn't watch it.

This has affected everyone in our family; my boys which are 15 and 11 have told me about how the have been around their aunt when she used illegal drugs. I WILL NOT ALLOW THEM TO BE AROUND HER ANYMORE, furthermore after she took her boyfriend back they don't want to have anything to do with her.

WHAT CAN WE DO???  DO WE REALLY HAVE TO SIT BACK AND WATCH THIS KILL MOM AND DAD BOTH EMOTIONALLY AND PHSYCALLY???  We have accepted the fact that my folks are doing this for the "GANDCHILD" but because of this she a puppetteer pulling the strings to my mom and dad.

I have talked till I am blue in face to mom and dad and it dosen't seem to do any good.  If anyone has any ideas let me know I would love to hear them.

I really feel for you! I lived through this. My sister did this to my parents who spent their money on keeping her up. . But my sister fell apart, and my parents eventually fell apart, the stress was overwhelming. Only someone in this situation could understand.  my parents were unable to save any  money to retire on, and they eventually worked until my father developed cancer and had to quit..   My parents aged and grieved over my sister and I knew her addiction was a sickness, but it was so hard on them...I only wish she would have stopped and seen what she was doing to them .The only thing I can suggest is that your parents need to come down on her the DR PHIL WAY, he has so much wisdom, and I wish he had his books and show when my family went down this road.  If  your parents  enable her, they will continue to suffer emotionally and financially;.They need PROFESSIONAL GUIDANCE, IT IS A VERY TOUGH THING TO DEAL WITH.

Minimum wage

This is driving me nuts in this episode. Minimum wage is $5.85 an hour not $8.00. I have to work for this amount of money and it is insulting to me that no one even knows how much money average people make.
Sorry if this offends anyone.

Kids, sisters and the mother from hell ..ARGH

AA to Al-a non and help the "guy" who opened the red sea to free his people too*

I swear I have a stomach that has bled on this one many times and I am on so many medications for a stomach that STOPPED digesting, I might as well give up food all together because the food does not stay down long.

Boy 34, lives far away and travels world wide.. BUT, when times were bad the kid would call and I would pay all his cell phone bills that ranged from 80-5oo a at a time. When asked to send him to choir camp fro the summer through a well known school on the east coast.. I sent him for 1000.00 and when he turned 30 years old and told me he did not need me anymore and that he found someone to pay his rent , he was happy and has not called me again. He is now 34 years of age.

Kid 2. deserted her kids 7 years ago because of gang activity, heavy drug use and had enough crap on her to make any mom have a heart attack. I got cusody of the children until they turn 18. At that time they were 1 1/2 and age 7. She beat the baby and badly effected the lil boy emotionally. Foe the next 5 years after that we really thought for sure she was dead. She was not and we had her put into treatment for the 15th time since she was 13. She has lived with us now for 2 years and it is time for her to go because she is a disaster again and yells at me all the time in front of the boys. LOUD and the cursing is horrible. If I had a calculalator the price of the children are "PRICELESS" her expenses in many drug treatments and all the hell she has put all of us through is partly PRICELESS and worth thousands and thousands dollars.

I am worried that some day she will come back and blow my brains out. She will too.

My younger son came back home 3-4 times untill he was 27 uears old and finally has a really good gaming job and is successful not mean and actually paid off to allow him home.

My step daughter only calls for when she needs money and has never sent my husband one picture of either of his grand-daughter.

My bio-mother protected my younger sister for years . My kid sister lived at home until she was 31 and never worked. She sold dope and my real mom would filter the money through an acct ..

My brother was just as horrid.

I left/ran away from home when I was 14 years old and never ever went back. I went back to school and I raised 3 kids all by myself with one dad and later on many marriages.

Should kids leave?

If they are activily going to college and getting their lives going, NO!

Working to improve their young lives, NO.

Sitting around and making your life hell. NO!

Get rid of the grown kid and make them grow up fast!

Believe this hurts you incredibly bad because some fight and scream and cry as if they were 12-16 years old.. I know .

Two sides

Quote From: ampugs

What do you do when the mother won't allow the son to use the phone, go out of the house, get a driver's license, or go anywhere without her?  He's 36 years old, but regresses to about 6 when she starts in on him.  He's not allowed to have friends.  He works full time.  He gives her most of his money.  Most of the time she sits in the driveway where he works so he doesn't talk to anyone else. She has him completely intimidated.  A little bit of a twist on this topic.
It  sounds like the son has some things going on too.  He may not like the control his mother has over him, but he is not willing bite the bullet and tell her he needs his freedom.  I do understand how parents can make you feel guilty, I grew up that way.  But, you just have to put down your foot and say, "I need my own life."  I had to do just that, but I was a lot yunger than this guy.  My parents actually did not speak to me for about 3 months after I left, but we are all the better for it today.

The first story

This first story reminds me of my sister so much, she lives in one of my parents rentals. She pays 300 when the rent usually goes for 750 (atleast it did 7 years ago). By the way the rental house is right next to my parents, and she is always calling them up and making them do fixes on the house. My sister even lived there for rent free for 2 years (she has been there for 7 going on 8 years now). She has 2 children, she actally takes naps during the day, she is 32 years olds. While watching this show, I told my mom I have thought about calling Dr Phil on this subject, but I know my mother woud hate me for putting this on TV, so I never did, even though I think Dr Phil could do alot of great help with this. Where the story differs is this isn't a money problem really, this is about my sister not taking charge of her life. She will not learn how to drive, and use to make my dad drive her into town, till 3 years ago when he said no more. She never thanks my mother for anything and completely disrespects our father.

I feel so sorry for this old couple that has immature children. Dr Phil is right they have to kick these adults out. There is one thing to live with your parents to get short term help, there is another to just live off of them. I feel very sorry for my parents as well, and its caused anger from me to my sister. My parents have never been able to take a vacation, because of her. My mother is scared to death that one of the children will get hurt and my sister will not know what to do. BTW my parents have 3 daughters 32, 31, and 25 (me). They are not suppose to still be taking care of kids.
