Some teens are catty, mean and love to spread lies, but what happens when gossip goes too far? Kim says her daughter, Kailey, was the victim of a prank. Two of Kailey's cheer squad friends took a picture of her while she was in the shower, and the image supposedly made its way around the football team. Now, in the aftermath, the whole town is buzzing. You won't believe what the fathers of the alleged perpetrators have to say about the incident. Another girl claims she was also a victim when one of the girls took an unwanted photo of her as a joke. Hear from this alleged victim. And, Mandie and Nikki threatened the life of a classmate on MySpace after they thought she was going to steal Nikki's boyfriend. They were convicted in a court of law three years ago, and now both families say they face losing their homes because of this teen gossip. What do the girls say about their actions? And, Elizabeth started a Web site that allows anyone to gossip about anything. When a victim of lies posted on her site tells her story, will Elizabeth change her view? Share your thoughts here.

Find out what happened on the show.

Shame on the parents

I can't believe the father of the girl who took the picture! If my daughter took a NUDE picture of a classmate without her consent, let alone sent it around school....I never would have fought to get them back on their cheerleading squad....PERIOD. Going against moral and school policy shows your children that there are no consequences for their actions. And the attitude radiating from the father's voice really made me angry! If a nude photo of his daughter was taken and distributed, he would definately be singing a different tune! Shame on the two girls who took the photo and more shame on their parents! Oh and P.S. that website the father made up about how  the girls who took the photo were 'brave' is a joke! That website should be removed!

That first story went way beyond gossip.

I'm sorry Dr. Phil, but you should be ashamed of telling those girls who were photographed to get over it.  What would you say to them if a man had taken those pictures and distributed them?  You'd call him a sexual predator, and you'd be right.  Those cheerleaders have committed a sexual assault on that poor girl, and they should be prosecuted. This is not a prank - it's a crime to take explicit pictures of an underaged child! They should be in jail, not back in school and on the cheer leading squad.

Gossip Girl's

I know how those girls feel that were gossiped about.I went to a Catholic grade school and this girl Barbara drove me crazy making fun of me everyday all day long. She got others to dislike me also.I hated to go to school.I told no one and it nearly killed me inside.I think the fact that the girl's are getting sued is wonderful.Something has to be done to stop this horrible thing that is happening to innocent kids. Please girl's stop talking about others.Remember God's commandment Love your neighbor as yourself and if you can't do that love your neighbor and get yourself help immediatly.

A situation in Denmark

In Denmark we just had an incident where an entire class aged about 11 went on arto, which is similar to myspace but aimed for teenagers (they use special software, so they can bypass the filters in the school).

They voted for their favorite hate teacher and one specific teacher was called "pedo", which is an ashortening for something no parent wants in school.

It was discovered and all but one was suspended for a week for two. The board in the school and the head teacher wanted to expell the one student, but the city counsel whipped the entire board and the head teacher into place.

No court, no trial but professional politicians, who understood that teenagers are not mature adults, who know the difference between the spoken and the written word.

Parents would of course not give a chainsaw into the hand of their child without instructions, but they are willing to let the child loose on their own without proper supervision.

My advice is. Give your child access to the internet, but create a fake profile and monitor the activity, so disgraceful pictures and conversations, which are getting out of hand can be stopped.

To the so-called 'Guardian of society' (termed by Dr. Phil)

I have to admit I never join board groups or express much of my opinion about television shows, but this one girl on Dr. Phil made me realize that some things should not go unnoticed.

In her reference to her website concerning gossiping, this young lady argued that gossip is, more or less, an important part of society and in fact serves an important role with regards to allowing criticisms to being heard.

Just to help clue her in, we already have social standards that we use with regards to being critical to other individuals.  One of these venues is called 'law', that is, a set of social rules and standards which citizens are required to abide by.  We have many other venues which allow social criticisms and/or expectations to be heard.

I don't think we need a gossip venue to help regulate society (or help it better function).  What we don't need is precisely the type of website she has.  But then again, there is a lot of useless stuff on the net, might as well just add it to the list.

The victims

My hearts go out to the victims on the show today and their families. I hope that Dr. Phil is able to ensure these girls get some help to get over this situation. Perhaps counseling would be helpful?

I hope the victims and their families are treated differently by their communities so they can have the normal life they deserve.

Time to Move On

Quote From: pb4life175

If they think this is bad wait to college.  People do this all the time nothing new here its over if the family cant get over it MOVE out of that town!!!

Very true. This is a big deal about nothing. The two girls who took the photo got suspended from school, were dropped from the cheerleading team, and have apologized repeatedly. It was wrong, and the girls did deserve to be punished but it's also time to MOVE ON. What else does the family want? A multimillion dollar lawsuit settlement? This nonsense that a picture of someone's naked butt is going to ruin their entire life is ridiculous. It's an insult to those out there who are violently raped, beaten, or molested and have to TRULY suffer the rest of their life.

child porn

Quote From: drendo1

1) child porn is a federal offense.  (13 year olds are chidren.)  It seems strange to me that the picture could circulate through the whole school, and the sheriffs office can not come up with the picture.  The victum herself has seen the picture. (If this story was real)

2)Dr Phil was on Extra announcing that he had gone to see BS at the hospital.  Once again Sensationalism.

Since when is a nude photo of someone automatically pornography? Some of you people have sick minds.

01/21 Real Life Gossip Girls

Quote From: elleyfromohio

I could t not believe both of the girls who pulled this prank are back on the cheer leading squad, and go on with nothing more than a slap on the hand!  Both of them should have been prosecuted on pornographic charges.  The victims parents should sue both the school and the parents so this type of garbage stops.  It went on 10,20,30, 40 years ago, and it only takes 1 person to throw that pebble into the water to make the change.  I sincerely hope both of those brats are punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Exactly - its just another case of desperately blind and irresponsible parents buying their kids way to college -- they knew that this suspension and being thrown off the cheerleading squad would reflect poorly when their 'brave little darlings' were applying for college - so they hired a lawyer to re-write history.

The real shame belongs with the school - they should never have been weak enough to give in these thugs and their parents. THey've set a terrible precedence.

In this instance this mother should not have gone to the school but to the police - what those girls did was illegal and may be even be a federal crime since they emailed it. I do agree that they need to move on - but sometimes you want and need justice to move on.
