Some teens are catty, mean and love to spread lies, but what happens when gossip goes too far? Kim says her daughter, Kailey, was the victim of a prank. Two of Kailey's cheer squad friends took a picture of her while she was in the shower, and the image supposedly made its way around the football team. Now, in the aftermath, the whole town is buzzing. You won't believe what the fathers of the alleged perpetrators have to say about the incident. Another girl claims she was also a victim when one of the girls took an unwanted photo of her as a joke. Hear from this alleged victim. And, Mandie and Nikki threatened the life of a classmate on MySpace after they thought she was going to steal Nikki's boyfriend. They were convicted in a court of law three years ago, and now both families say they face losing their homes because of this teen gossip. What do the girls say about their actions? And, Elizabeth started a Web site that allows anyone to gossip about anything. When a victim of lies posted on her site tells her story, will Elizabeth change her view? Share your thoughts here.

Find out what happened on the show.

GOSSIP

TALK IS CHEAP JUST LIKE THE PEOPE WHO SPREAD IT.

GOSSIP IS CHEAP TALK.  IF YOU CAN NOT SAY SOMETHING TO SOMEONES FACE THAN

YOU SHOULDN'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL.

DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU.

I DID NOT RAISE MY KIDS TO BE BIBLE THUMPERS, BUT I DID RAISE THEM TO BE RESPECTFUL

OF THEMSELFS AND OTHERS.   THEY WERE TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT LIKE EVERYONE AND THAT NOT EVERYONE WOULD LIKE THEM BUT THEY DID HAVE TO BE TOLERANT AND KIND.

gossip show

watcing show now,  first segment,  good advice to girls,  but  .... that's gona take time and probably therapy and  why wasn't that offered??? or ackowledged?  and then....posting nude photos...if it was an adult, the fbi would of been there with charges of child porn...now.. why not the same consequences for these girls..and for them to be reinstated on cheerleading team....WRONG...

now....address....this technology should not be anonymous...would you say that if your face was there saying it??and people knew it was your comment...accountability...necessary,,,but not there..sad that people are cruel and technology should not promote cruelty,,,,

define gossip???talk of what happened and that's ok...  lies,,,not ok...let's talk and share and perpetuate positive talk about people....and we'd feel better about ourselves for doing it....see my site  on my space...tired of the hype....join in!

Kailey's school

Those girls should have been kick out of that school. If they did it once they will do it again.  Where are the police in all of this. I think charges should be filed against both of these two disrespectful and sick girls. I think both of  these girls need to learn a hard lesson. This school or school district should be sued. For not taking action on this matter.

Once again, someone is hurt by myspace...

I will admit that "on paper" myspace sounds like a very cool idea.  It's pen pals...amplified!  How great is that?  HOWEVER, as a teacher of high school students I am firmly convinced that myspace and other online "communities" that seek to shrink the world and bring us all together, are nothing more than instruments that amplify the spinlessness of humans, becasue it takes the accountability out of communication.  It is used as an outlet for all that is evil and ugly and dark in people.  GET A JOURNAL...KEEP IT UNDER YOUR PILLOW...DON"T PUT IT ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB! Why would anyone want to be a part of that? If that isn't bad enough, it...quite simply put...takes the work out of being a predator.  There is nothing valuable in these sites...yet.  I want to believe that the technology will catch up to the idea and someday there will be a safe and good way to get to know the world.  Right now, it is dangerous and ugly.

MS B

Quote From: ddnlj1

While I realize the girl has some serious problems, so do millions of other people in America. The difference is that most of them are nobody's. They don't have access to the best rehab centers in the country. Their families don't have high-profile friends like Dr. Phil to lean on. Many people in this country struggling with mental illness or addiction can't even get into a treatment program because they don't have medical insurance.

Britany has the best of everything. She has access to anything and everything she needs to get her life straightened out. If she refuses those things, we should wish her well and move on to help those who are in desperate need but don't have all the assistance afforded to Ms. Spears. Just because she is in the public eye and living the Hollywood lifestyle does that make her problems and issues more worthy of help than someone living, say, in Des Moines or Phoenix?

The people in Des Moines or Phoenix do not deserve that.  I would not inflict her on anyone.  I was thinking more like, you know, falling off the face of the earth.

Ridiculous!

I'm just absolutely dumbfounded that Dr. Phil didn't tell Mauricio what for.  Kaylie was OBVIOUSLY exploited.  If it had been 2 member ofthe football team that did this, rather than 2 cheerleaders, people would be crying sexual assault/exploitation!  Why is this any different?  Mauricio should be ashamed of himself and his pathetic daughter.  I hope Kaylie and her family sue him and the other family like the other victim is doing.  Maybe then he can work on his patranizing attitude of "forgive and forget"

They need to be taught...

I dont usually write on these message boards however today's show really got to me. I watched as that poor girl was emotionally tortured by her so called friends. A teenage girl is already dealing with issues like body image, social image, trust or just trying to figure out themselves in this world and these girls played those major life changing issues like toys. I think they need to be taught the ramifications of their actions like the other girls in the latter part of the show. If you notice the girls that made those threats actually learned that it was not a light matter because of the punishment and difficulty that they had to endure. Since the parents, school and community are sending the “prankster” girls the message that it is no big deal maybe the law needs to teach them before the really go out there and hurt someone past the point of apology.

tsk,tsk,tsk

Telling victims of bullying to buck up and move on is really easy to do when it's not your naked picture that can end up on the internet. Take the same situation but make the picture taker an adult male and we're talking criminal act. Honestly, I think the girl who took the picture should be brought up on charges of child pornography. Anyone who then passed that picture on could be charged with being in possession of child pornography. This was a picture taken without consent. It was illegal. What are we teaching our children when we tell them they don't have the same rights as adults when it comes to things like this?

We are living in a different age. Kids are more likely to act on their impulses because they are not taught consiquences. Think of it this way. What should happen if an adult was bullied and harrased at work creating a hostile workplace? What if an adult were photographed naked without their permission and it was sent around the workplace? Should these adults buck up and move on or file charges?

As far a I'm concerned telling our children there are no consequences for the cruel attacks againsts them is just another way we devalue our children. Punishments should fit the crime but the key word here is "crime".

01/21 Real Life Gossip Girls

Quote From: ramair

A picture was taken of a girl in the shower? With what? A camera-phone, I'll bet. Such phones shouldn't be allowed at school. All these teen gals, and guys, need is a basic emergency-use cell phone. But, bringing any cell phone to school is risky. At the local HS, at least one is reported stolen every week.
The photo wasn't taken on school property, but at a sleepover party at someone's house. But I agree that camera phones shouldn't be allowed at school. For one thing, students use them to cheat on tests.
