Some teens are catty, mean and love to spread lies, but what happens when gossip goes too far? Kim says her daughter, Kailey, was the victim of a prank. Two of Kailey's cheer squad friends took a picture of her while she was in the shower, and the image supposedly made its way around the football team. Now, in the aftermath, the whole town is buzzing. You won't believe what the fathers of the alleged perpetrators have to say about the incident. Another girl claims she was also a victim when one of the girls took an unwanted photo of her as a joke. Hear from this alleged victim. And, Mandie and Nikki threatened the life of a classmate on MySpace after they thought she was going to steal Nikki's boyfriend. They were convicted in a court of law three years ago, and now both families say they face losing their homes because of this teen gossip. What do the girls say about their actions? And, Elizabeth started a Web site that allows anyone to gossip about anything. When a victim of lies posted on her site tells her story, will Elizabeth change her view? Share your thoughts here.

Find out what happened on the show.

Well Said!!

Quote From: scarlettstar

Bravo Dr. Phil!!

I love the way you politely told the press to "kiss your ass' over the whole Brittany situation!

I totally agree, and I love how you worded it!! The press is getting to be so annoying that it's unbelievable.

Anybody that hasn't been stuck under water knows that Dr. Phil would never do anything unethical or break a confidence. But the press has to make a big deal of his hospital visit to BS.

It's just like they cannot move past the fight between Hillary and Obama the other night. Move on!!! The press is just keeping it going. It is so ridiculous.

Support for Dr. Phil

I am also a big fan and am glad you stood up for yourself concernng the "spears" matter.  I wish they could Baker Act the girl.  People are driving me nuts saying that you aren;t even a real doctor.  I hear it on the radio, and just want to let them know how ignorant they are...  Doctor does not simply mean Doctor of medicine... Did any of these people go to college and have a Dr. Jones as a professor.  Dr. is an indication of a higher level of education , which you obviously have.  I have rarely heard anything come out of your mouth that I don't thing is a wise statement, so keep up the good work.

they will repeat their nastiness again and again

Quote From: im1irishangel2

Let me start off by saying I am appalled, I am also a huge Dr. Phil fan but I think he got this one wrong, the girls who took the picture should have been suspended and kicked off the cheerleading squad, not suspended then exponged the suspension and back on the squad!! If they had been boys who took the picture imagine the sexual harrament charges and/or jail time they would face!!! These nasty little brats need to pay DEARLY for what they did. That poor girl's life has been scarred now, yes she will go on and eventually it will be just a memory, however, jr high kids are nasty and will make the rest of her time there miserable, I have no idea if that jr. high feeds into the HS she is to attend next year but I pray that stigmata doesn't follow her there. Anyone who defends the actions of these girls by saying it was a mistake and they are kids needs to put themselves in that little girl and her parents shoes, what would you do if your 13 year old daughter had naked pictures circulation through out the school??

These rotten girls will repeat their nastiness and bullying over and over. Why?  Because there were no consequences to these  girls.  They were reinstated to the cheering squad which they should not have been, and the suspensions that were expunged (what idiot did that?)  should have  stayed  on their records.  And then Big Daddy jumps in and turns the girls into brave victims instead of coming down hard on these prima donnas.  There were absolutely NO consequences for their horrendous actions, so what is to keep them from abusing more people?  Shame on the irresponsible school and bigger shame on Daddy!!!

I don't buy the "it was a mistake.  They are only young girls" nonsense.  First of all, at 13 I would never have done anything vicious to anyone.  Why?  Because of the way I was taught..to care about the feelings of others.  Not even peer pressure would have gotten me to mistreat someone.  And it was not a simple mistake.  They did it more than once.  They have mean streaks  that will go unchecked because they have not been taught decency and empathy (hear that Daddy?  You get lots of credit for that one!!)

Dr. Phil got this one very very wrong.  Just let it go?  Imagine the way the world would be if we let all viciousness go without the slightest consequence?  These girls should have had to pay dearly for their nastiness.

01/21 Real Life Gossip Girls

Quote From: starlet234

I totally agree, Amanda.  I think it was in very poor taste to allow that girl on the show.  Gossip serves no purpose other than to spread hate and the Dr. Phil Show just gave them a public forum to entice others to participate.  Even if you hold someone in low esteem because of their behavior, gossip only serves to spread hatred and the problem is that it's victims are so often innocent of the accusations made against them.

Hope this gets posted.

happy to know im not the only out there who thinks that this was a grave mistake in having that representive on...

I am with you on that one.  The school dropped the ball but what do you think of the parents of those girls? Calling them courageous?  Outrageous!

Cheerleaders = Double standard

If a guy were to take a picture of a young cheerleader in the shower and transmit it over the Internet he would be in jail for passing around kiddie porn,  I think the cheerleaders should be expelled from school and in prison.  At the very least the school should have stood by their policy, but instead they rescinded on the suspension record and allowed the cheerleaders back on the squad.  The students are foolishly being sent mixed messages, they (the cheerleaders) knew exactly what they were doing when they did it and they should be punished for it.

gossip girls - two sides

There are always two sides to every story.  I don't think Dr. Phil should have had the two myspace gossip girls on unless he was going to have the victim and her family on the show to tell their side of the story.  When you have only one side to tell the story they can say whatever they want and the public will never know the difference.  What a shame.  This must be more serious than the families are letting on.  Did they continue to harrass the victim even after the myspace incident?  They were in the same school weren't they?  As far as the families losing everything --- don't they have homeowners insurance?  And what is the deal with the three mortgages on the one families home?  You can't tell me that within the last two years they have spent that much money on lawyers fees for their daughter that they have to have three mortgages on their home.  Seems to me that they may have been in financial trouble before this and now they're trying to make is sound like it's all this other families fault.  I sure hope once the lawsuit  is over that someone gives the victim's family a chance to tell their side of the story.  .

Real life gossip girls

Quote From: travelguru

Finally there is another person who shares my views! This reply is "right on" - if parents knew what their children were doing things like this probably wouldn't happen. And, why do pre-teens and teens need cell phones, especially in school? I'm sorry but that is NOT the place for them. I've heard people say computers, cell phones, the internet, etc...has created a lot of our societal problems today. Just look at the stuff you can view on the internet! Not only view, but there are sites that let you build a web site for free and here you can post anything! MySpace, YouTube, and others, these sites allow anything to be posted, true or not! I won't judge all teens by the ones who are up to no good and even up to criminal-level activity. There are many good teens in the world who do good things! Bless Them! It's the bad ones that we hear about, have always heard about and probably always heard about! What scares me the most is, these kids are the future, and what kind of an adult will they be!
I think you are being entirely too judgemental and extremely defensive, because someone had a different view.  Yes, I do think the girls deserved to be punished, but for the parents to lose their house.  I think that is way extreme.  Also, the parents of the girl that was victimized is not doing much to get past this.  It sounds like they are reliving it everyday with this lawsuit.  I think it is time to try to heal and move on.  My daughter had a so called friend that got a hold of her my space password, and filled her my space with terrible names and accusations.  This so called friend acted like her best friend the whole time of this nightmare, it wasn't until we contacted the police and they were going to investigate, that she fessed up.  Don't care for the girl much, however, what purpose would it served if I sued the parents and tried to take their house?  Thank God, my daughter has moved on and hopefully learned a valuable lesson.

Photos of underage girls

Quote From: mmmarty

If a guy were to take a picture of a young cheerleader in the shower and transmit it over the Internet he would be in jail for passing around kiddie porn,  I think the cheerleaders should be expelled from school and in prison.  At the very least the school should have stood by their policy, but instead they rescinded on the suspension record and allowed the cheerleaders back on the squad.  The students are foolishly being sent mixed messages, they (the cheerleaders) knew exactly what they were doing when they did it and they should be punished for it.

There was a story I saw on the news a few months ago. Its a 4 year long story, there were a few girls around 11 to 13 years old, took naked photos of themselves. Then sent the photos to there boyfriends which were of the same age, well one thing lead to another and alot of kids ended up having. The cops got wind of it but couldn't do anything cause it was kids taking the photos of other kids. Well after 4 years some 18 guy ended up with the photo (not one of the boyfriends) and ended up texting it to another person, he got arrested for sending out "child" porn, cause he was over 18. This happened I believe in New York. But I was shocked at it.

I don't think the girls should be in prison but I think a good harsh punishment should be needed cause it was something unwanted, its not even like she posed for this and it got out of hand. I feel very sorry about the young girl this happened too. And I do think the 2 girls got a real light punishment. But what I don't understand is why no adults have seen this photo? Someone has to still have the photo or is it totally deleted now?
