From petty theft to check fraud, Dr. Phil’s guests say they’re addicted to stealing, and it’s destroying their families. Casey says he’s been pilfering for 16 years and has ripped off groceries, appliances, DVDs -- even one of Dr. Phil’s books! Casey estimates that he’s stolen nearly $100,000 in merchandise and says his estranged brother, Zack, is clueless about the extent of his criminal activity. How does Zack respond when Casey reveals another deep, dark secret? Will the brothers be able to reconcile, and will Casey change his thieving ways? And, Micki says she uses her good looks to get jewelry and credit card numbers from men, but her kids have no idea she leads a secret life as a con artist. Recently, she was arrested for stealing $10,000 in a check fraud scheme. Find out why one friend says she deserves to be behind bars. Don’t miss Dr. Phil’s strong message for Micki. Unbelievable

Quote From: finallyretired

I WATCHED THE SHOW TODAY AND THOUGHT I WOULD COMMENT ON IT BUT I SEE THAT YOU HAVE COVERED IT WELL. THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF THAT COULD HELP THESE TWO IDIOTS IS JAIL

I am so glad I read the message board after today's show.

I was totally disgusted with both of these guests who seemed to feel the need for therapy 'after the fact.' There's no way they deserve to be patted on the back and sent to therapy as a reward for their actions. The very fact that Dr. Phil offers them therapy when they should absolutely go to jail is very upsetting to me. Its totally unbelievable to have at least these two individuals in front of a television camera tearing up for help (and getting it) even though the help they need should include jail therapy. Now if the rest of the world could be so lucky to commit a crime and get on the Dr. Phil show to escape the consequences of their behavior, what a better world this would be.

01/23 Con Artists and Thieves

Personally, I thought both of these guests were looking to keep out of jail, I've often wondered how people could get away with this stuff for so long, my first time even TRYING I'd be caught I'm sure of that, or I'd lose so much sleep I'd turn myself in, and yet these two can do it without remorse for YEARS, not lose sleep over and JUSTIFY what they've done.  These two weren't stealing to feed their families, they did it for the THRILL, so what went wrong ?

Casey by all accounts is very intelligent, with his gift for languages, he could've been an abassador or Diplomat, and instead he turns to crime, its such a waste, he's pitiful.  Now does he deserve to be held accountable, OH YEAH, no matter what he was before, he is now nothing but a COMMON THEIF, though I did learn something valuble from him, from now on, there will be NOTHING around my home that ANYONE will be able to steal personal info from.

Maybe Miki will get an eighty year old judge that will fall for the dumb blond, "I'm to pretty for jail" act of hers.

Sadly she has an overblown sense of her looks, I do hope the one service she did though was to show elderly men that when a pretty, young thing starts hanging off you, RUN AWAY and keep your finances intact.  The only thing she was sorry for was she was caught, and now she has humiliated her children, and taken away their stability and sense of security, and the older ones are old enough to question whether or not her LOVE for them was just a CON GAME.  Too good for running a cash register or flipping burgers, there are many people smarter and better looking than her doing JUST THAT for various reasons, and besides, many stores and fast food places are now getting fussier, and NONE of them want to be the repositories for CRIMINALS who made a CHOICE to be so.  Shut up and do your time, the world owes you NOTHING, you want a man who will look after you, get a Sugar Daddy.

Jail Time

I missed the first part of this show, but caught the last half with the female admitted thief & con artist.  Sorry....It's just impossible for me to feel any sympathy for her & wonder why she thinks she's entitled to any help from Dr.Phil & his resources.  I simply feel she should have her little fanny put in the slammer, now.  She's a common thief, no more no less and doesn't deserve any favors from Dr.Phil or the court system just because she thinks she's "hot"....which she may have been at one time, but time is running out on that for her.  So, she's "too smart to flip burgers".....she should have to find out how smart she has to be to sit in a prison cell 24/7.  Unfortunately, she has children & they will suffer, probably going into foster care.  Their Mother should have thought of that a long time ago, now is too late.

Gimme a Break!

Micki is an amoral, self-centered, lying thief who is absolutely no worth to society right now.  Too good to flip burgers, and too smart, but living in her car.  She is all that her children have, or so she said.  Well, then, her poor children sure don't have much.  These thieves think they are better than the rest of society when they are really just bottom feeders.  Micki would not want to change her ways at all if she weren't getting caught!  And to want to admit all this to her daughter on national TV...what a mom she must be!  I hope she does go to prison.  She is using her children as an excuse to escape what treatment she deserves.

Casey has stolen from every honest person.  Stores add to their prices to make up for shoplifters like him, so those of us who pay for what we want and need pay for him, too.  He seemed to alternate between remorseful and proud of his horrible behavior.  His promiscuity is truly desperate.

Take some responsiblity for your lives.  No one owes you anything.  Radical concept -- if you want something, work for it!

con-artist?

My girlfriends and myself call people like miki especially --MEAL TICKETS-----

we have seen them bat their eyes at men only to see what they can get out of them----

It is sort of a game to them and you would not believe what they can con men into giving them.

Personally my friends and I are all widows at a young age with children and it has not been easy especially since our husbands deaths have in some cases let us very desperate. We have re-educated ourselves --flipped burgers--waited tables --maybe nothing too glamorous but none of us have asked anybody for a hand-out or lowered ourself into giving ourself away to make an easy living. What kind of message is she giving to her kids. If Dr. phil doesn`t think he is being conned than Robin better lookout!

Well said!

Quote From: denisedorgan

When you interviewed the woman who is a professed con artist..My personal opinion is that she was working real hard to run a con for your viewing audience..this is the indication that as a population we rate ourselves by what is in our closet, what material things we have, what we can obtain without sweat equity and a genuine disregard for our fellow man. .I saw no sincerity in her at all. This is a last ditch effort for her to attempt to show the court that she has a (problem). I am so tired of people who are obviously guilty of committing crimes, and attempt to circumvent the system by saying they need counseling.

Sure she may need counseling I just find this is an excuse for criminal behavior and now that she has been busted she is looking for another avenue to prevent herself from paying for the crimes she has committed.  The last thing I will say is I am steaming at the fact that MY hard earned tax dollars will be spent to house, feed and counsel her for her lazy, self entitled behavior. She is guilty, has admitted her guilt she should just move to the sentencing phase and not spend MY tax dollars on an indigent defender to defend her.

She's trying to use Dr. Phil as her "get out of jail free card" by showing that she's trying to get help for her problem. I bet she's upset she didn't get her free trip to L.A. courtesy of the Dr. Phil show. The only remorse I saw was in getting caught.

If it looks like a duck.....

I am a little confused; if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and sounds like a duck, what is the question?  Getting caught in criminal activity, looking at due punishment for wrong choices, and did I see tears!  So perhaps I missed something, but criminal activities, freely chosen, deserves legal administration, court activity is the answer, not self absorbed sympathy parties.  Sorry but todays' show was pretty darned shallow and I seemed to have missed the whole point of it!

ZOWIE!!!!

Once again, it's the children who suffer. It's impossible for me to wrap my head around Micki's (and Casey's) extreme entitlement philosophy. I'm flabbergasted there are people like this who appear normal in the world but lie in wait to take advantage of another human being and as far as Casey goes, put people at risk to contracting HIV. Guess I really do live in a small town!

I don't think either should go to jail. They should pay restitution and/or give everything they stole back. I believe in second chances and mercy. They are not violent people. BUT, if they don't follow through on their therapy and probation requirements, well, then, they make the choice not to change no matter what help is offered--they really are sociopaths and pretty much hopeless.

I know what it's like to be scammed

I know what it's like to be scammed......shortly after I was diagnosed with cancer, an acquaintance and her daughter suddenly became my new "best friends"...they basically invaded our lives, manipulated us and scammed us out of more than 10K, then when we had nothing more to give, they called and left a nasty message on our answering machine saying they wanted nothing more to do with us! I find it unbelieveable that people can be so cruel, that they scam people when they are most vulnerable, I am told they've moved on to someone else.

addiction

Some people may belive these people are kleptomaniacs, but they do not fit the criteria of Kleptomniacs.

I was really suprised when Dr.Phil used the word "addictions" to describe the theft of other peoples property. If they really were kleptomaniacs I would feel sympathy and empathy for thier disorder, but they do not fit the diagnostic criteria!

For the first man, he does have a problem, but it is not addiction or kleptomania, he has an issue with care and regard for other human beings and himself, and a disregard for authority. However, I do not believe he has an "addiction" to stealing.

The woman seriously does not fit the bill for the disorder kleptomaina, she is a con artist looking for a way out, she is not addicted to stealing, she is not a kleptomaniac, she is a thoughtless and cruel individual who said herself "knows right from wrong". Yes she got caught and is facing prison time and is desperatly seeking a way out.

I really have to wonder why is it when someone does something over and over that is self destructive and hurtful to others that the word "addict" is thrown into the mix?

Saying some one is addicted is a diagnoses, just as much as saying some one is compulsive obsessive, kleptomanias, anti social, what ever, these things do exist, however I think that the word adiction is applied way to liberaly, not every issue is an addiction, and to just throw that out there really bothers me.

any way those are my thoughts.

Tammy
