(Original Air Date: 01/31/08) You’ve heard the phrase, “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore!” Dr. Phil’s guests say to achieve justice they were forced to take matters into their own hands. Dr. William Moody says his constitutional rights were violated when he was physically and verbally attacked while arguing with a man about moving his car. But the dentist wasn’t on his best behavior either. You won’t believe what’s on this tape – but does it tell the whole story? What does Dr. Phil think? Then, 75-year-old Mona made national news when she walked into the office of her local cable company with a hammer and smashed up their equipment! She says they were rude and gave her inadequate service, and she doesn’t regret her actions. Was the grandmother justified in taking on big business with a weapon? Plus, meet a man who shot video of himself pulling over an erratic driver whom he thought was under the influence. Should you perform a citizen’s arrest if you encounter a drunk driver on the road? Hear what the experts have to say and join the discussion.

Find out what happened on the show.

sorry...the Doc is so WRONG

I don't care WHO you are...you do NOT HIT A WOMAN - didn't that guy have a father that ever told him that???  For heaven's sake!!  He was wrong, first of all, to get out of his car...and then he lied about what happened even when watching the video.  I'm really happy he's not my dentist.  As a woman, I'd be afraid of going in there, saying the wrong thing and walk out with broken teeth from his fist!!  Now lets talk about his lawyer...is that a childhood friend or something?  They look like two little boys that got beat up as kids...Neither one of them seem to be very professional and are a complete farce to their professions.  I feel sorry for his patients.  I don't think he'll have one much longer.

i don't agree

I am actually quite appalled by what that elderly woman did with the hammer. I understand that she was wronged, but breaking someone else's phone is hardly the correct way to go about the situation. I would think that someone with more life experience would have handled that in a more mature fashion and not stoop the the level of psychotic. That's how I would expect a hormonal teenager to act. If she ordered a sprite at a restaurant and the waiter came out with a coke, would it be ok for her to break the glass over the waiter's head? The fact that the audience and her own church was supportive of this action was even more appalling. I do not believe that woman has the right to sit there and look so pleased with herself for throwing a tantrum and thinking that is the way to get what you want. I would have thought that Dr. Phil would have told her that acting that way was beneath a sensible woman, but surprisingly enough, he didn't. I do not believe that what she did was justified in any sense of the word.

Mona and her hammer

I think I have never laughed as much for quite a while. I absolutely love the way Mona handled this. I know that it was a very foolish thing to do and the people talking about her going to a nursing home needs their heads examined.

My mother is 83 years old and has Comcast Cable and is always getting screwed around with trying to call them about problems with their TV, etc.

My mother only weighs 80 lbs but I could just see her doing this (if she thought she could get by with it!!!) She's a feisty little woman.

We DO need more people to make these companies that we HAVE to be associated with understand that WE pay their paychecks. It's a shame that companies have to be this way. That is why I changed to satellite and never have had a problem since!!!! All I gotta say is - You go, girl!!!!!

This Dentist is Clearly wrong!

This man obviously started the incident by pushing the brother first!!!!! How on earth can he say that he was defending himself.  The man was saying very angry MOVE THE CAR, MOVE THE CAR.  He started the WHOLE THING!!  Stop being a baby and step up to what you did wrong!

Dentist

 Hi

I can't believe everybody is so much against the dentist. I do find wrongs on both sides. First of all, who started it all by parking illegally ?
Second why should a woman be allowed to put her hands on a man but not the other way around?(Clearly visible on the video who touched who first.) She clearly tried to shove him but unfortunately for her he is stronger. It would have been a 4 foot 2 man shoving him and the dentist knocking him on his you know what, nobody would have complained it would have been self defense.
Then the lady and her brother refused to appear on the show? Why? The dentist did.
One more thing, it was quite hillarious when the lady that got shoved, declared in the video interview something like "Could you imagine what he could do to his patients?", that was hillarious, what was she trying to do, here, convince us all not to go see him for dental work, that he might snap and stick a dental tool down our throat? LOL!
Now the dentist is a hypocrit don't get me wrong, he makes a fool out of himself  and lies with his lousy lawyer, and Dr Phil has a field day destroying him.
He was never punched when he was in the car, just slightly pushed twice. If he was spat on or called the N word, there were a bunch of witnesses there that could attest to it.
Dr Phil I am a little disappointed, you were very one sided (Even though you said you weren't on the show) to a guest that had the guts to show up opposed to the other side which didn't, and when you declared "You should never lay hands on a woman" and the crowd went crazy, well I agree and I have never touched a woman but if one ever touches me and I haven't done anything to her, she will get knocked out. I wonder what Dr Phil would do if confronted by an irrate aggressive woman that try to hurt him? Talk it out? LOL!
Both sides were wrong here, I just hate to see such a one sided story.
I am Caucasian by the way, happily married for 17 years, 1 child.

I couldn't agree more!

Quote From: godgaveus2

So, call the other driver stupid for blocking the driveway.

Sorry, stupidity isn't a crime.

However, putting your hands on anyone else in an offensive manner IS.

The Dentist was the FIRST to put his hands on others when HE pulled the guy from the car to begin with.  AND it could very well be considered car jacking since the Dentist actually sat in the other driver's vehicle and attempted to move it.

PERIOD.

End of story.

The rest is just protection from the Dentist on behalf of the driver and the woman.  As for the Dentist, he just went from bad to worse.  The video is icing on the cake for the other driver and the woman regarding a lawsuit.

IF the driver "parked" where he was was an issue, the police nearby would have told that driver to move the car from blocking the driverway AND would have put a stop to the Dentist as he was blowing his horn for the claimed 5 minutes.  Then again, the Dentist changed his story so many times to account for the FACTS as seen in the VIDEO.

The dentist was WRONG from the start to the finish. I was sick listening to him LIE about what happened when time after time the film told the story. He had no business putting his hands on the woman, pulling the guy out of the car or any of it! I hope justice is served and he does go to jail. His ignorant attorney thought that because the woman wasn't 'hurt' there was no problem. Oh sure, put the shoe on the other foot and it would have been all about race.

Look at his last name,

Quote From: thebump

I watched the tape over and over again. At what point did the woman swing or attempt to swing at the doctor????? And where in the world did the doctor get the idea he could get in someone's car and drive it??????? Lets face it. The doctor was out of control. He also said the police placed him in a neck hold and took him away. Can anyone find that segment of the tape?????? Lets call an angry liar an angry liar. He was wrong, period. Was the guy in a car a moron for not moving? yes. Was the doctor justified in any way shape or form in what he did. NO HE WAS NOT.

Look at his last name, "Moody."  Dr. "Moody," is very moody.  That's his personality.  He thinks he can do whatever he feels like it.  If he would have tried to get me out of "my own car" he would have been sorry.  I keep my doors locked when I'm driving.  I certainly don't want a jerk to try to open my car door like "Dr. Moody."

He'd never gotten out

Boy, is this guy lucky that he came out alive. I don't care if the driver was in his way....he had NO!!!!! right to push the owner of the car and jump in to move it himself. If that had been my husband in the guy's place, Dr. Moody wouldn't have been sitting on the Dr. Phil show today.

I can't believe that nobody has even mentioned the possibility of grand theft auto. I am alot smaller than Dr. Moody, but don't try to get into what I own and take control of it.....give me a break...what are you thinking Dr. Moody?

It's alot better to sit behind the wheel of your own vehicle and cuss somebody out anonymously, than to take the law into your own hands.

If Dr. Moody doesn't get some kind of anger management help, he will run into the wrong person and end up dead.

Oh pleaseeeeeeeeee

I think Dr. Moody needs to man up and accept admit the error in his actions.  Of course he was frustrated.....we all are at sometime or other with another motorist.  Everything he did from the moment he got out of the car to the excuses he makes for his behavior are extreme and sensationalized.  C'mon, Moody....the woman obviously didn't "attack" you, but you certainly exercised excessive force on her.  And your these complaints about being sworn at........try working in a public school sometime!  Be a MAN and learn to control yourself!

Cox Communications

I can sympathise with the woman and her Cox Communications dilema - We, too, had a problem with Cox when we decided to switch over to them and keep our number, which they said we could.  My husband is a professional in the medical field and his number had been in circulation for many years.  We switched over from SNET to Cox.  Our phone was cut off.  We called them and they said that they would turn it back on.  My mother tried to call me and there was a message that our number was "no longer in service"....we called them again.  They said that it was an SNET problem.  SNET said it was a Cox problem...we, as the consumer, were stuck in the middle.  SNET told us they released our number to them and Cox said that SNET would not release the number to them.  This went on for about a month.  I then called Cox who would not give me the phone number and address to their corporate office in RI.  I went to the computer and obtained that.  We sent a letter to them, to which there was no reply, but again, the phone problems continued.  Finally, so frustrated that we were willing to drive from CT to RI to knock on the corporate door, we called SNET and asked them how we could come back to them. (and we kept our old number).  We now live in AZ and we did have an opportunity to sign up for services with Cox...We would not do that....any correspondence we get from them with a return envelope is opened and sent back to them on their dime with a big red "NO THANKS".

I would NEVER EVER recommend Cox to anyone...and that gentleman that you had in the audience defending Cox is full of you know what....they do NOT resolve problems.  He's a bigger liar than that dentist!!
