(Original Air Date: 01/31/08) You’ve heard the phrase, “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore!” Dr. Phil’s guests say to achieve justice they were forced to take matters into their own hands. Dr. William Moody says his constitutional rights were violated when he was physically and verbally attacked while arguing with a man about moving his car. But the dentist wasn’t on his best behavior either. You won’t believe what’s on this tape – but does it tell the whole story? What does Dr. Phil think? Then, 75-year-old Mona made national news when she walked into the office of her local cable company with a hammer and smashed up their equipment! She says they were rude and gave her inadequate service, and she doesn’t regret her actions. Was the grandmother justified in taking on big business with a weapon? Plus, meet a man who shot video of himself pulling over an erratic driver whom he thought was under the influence. Should you perform a citizen’s arrest if you encounter a drunk driver on the road? Hear what the experts have to say and join the discussion.

Find out what happened on the show.

Amen!

Quote From: irslick

Why did your audience find this woman's action so amusing?  She had no right to assult the company's employees.  I hope charges were brought against her for assult.  You didn't think the Doctor was in his right to assult the woman, why did you allow this woman to come across as thought she was someone to be proud of.  Worse yet, her CHURCH also approved this terrible behavior.  I wonder if it hadn't been a white elderly woman, if you would have found it so acceptable.

I was shocked at everyone (including Dr. Phil) thinking this was so funny and just worth a wrist-slap. I've worked in customer service for many years. I'm also a consumer and have had frustrating experiences with bad customer service. You have to understand that bad service usually comes when the head of a large corporation is trying to increase their profits, they cut the jobs and wages of the little guys - CSRs and

service technicians. The CSRs are usually over-worked and under-trained, so many of them lack the skills needed to calm an irate customer down.

Shame, Dr. Phil. If a man was angrily destroying stuff in his own house in the presence of his wife and kids, it would be considered domestic assault.

Role Models

I found that one key point was missed in this whole thing. The fact that Dr. Moody pushed the male first, before the Dr. got into the gentlemans car. That in effect coupled with the fact that Dr. Moody got out of his car first in order to "CONFRONT" the other driver, makes the Dr. guilty of assault not once, not twice, but three times. Don't forget the camera man was the second. The female who was the third, could have considered him a threat. As a small women to this very tall man, she may have used her hands to push him back and create distance between them. I saw him coming at her at the same time she stepped off the curb. Yes she put her hands on him, no I did not see it as assault. The real tradgedy though is that the Dr. has three children. He is supposed to be a role model to them as well as theiir parent. Anything that he does must be done with respect to them. I am also concerned over his display of anger in such a trivial matter. Though he may be respected in his profession, that doesn't mean he is not a person to be weary of. Remember this was over a blocked driveway and as the tape showed, there was a cop right there. He could have easily gone to them.

I don't blame him

Even though the Dentist was out of control, I don't blame him.  Some drivers are so rude and I hate it when they block crosswalks and driveways. The audience seemed to be against the dentist but laughed at the elderly lady.  What is the difference when you feel like you have been wronged?  What happen to common courtesy?

Bully Dentist

Dr. Moody is nothing but a self deluded bully. And, just like all bullies, as soon as somebody pushes back, he collapses into whining and crying and claiming that his "constitutional rights were violated". Give me a break. Mr. Moody, you started the whole thing by getting out of your car and trying to bully the other driver into moving. How dare you climb into someone else's car, shove the cameraman, and also shove the woman ( who was much smaller than you) to the ground? Your whining about being in fear of your life from her is ridiculous. You minimize your actions and exagerate those of the others involved. If you were so concerned about your safety and your family, then you would have stayed in your car, phoned the police with your cellphone, and waited for them to take care of the problem. If you sue the police and/or the other people involved, I hope I'm on the jury.

Vigilante Justice My **^*&!

I wasn't able to watch beyond the first couple of commercials today. A show that I watch daily, I have never turned away from your show before. Is this guy for real?  His lawyer gives lawyers a bad name. We've all heard of ambulance chasers, well his attorney fits that bill. He must be really desperate to take this guys case.

Dr. Phil, I appreciate you putting this on the air so that potential jurors and the public outcry will put this guy back under the rock in which he crawled from. I would venture to guess that his practice is not doing well and he feels that litigation against all of these people he thinks wronged him will give him an award. I am glad that the defense will have all of his embelished ideas of what happened to present in court to make him appear to be the fool he is.

Even more disturbing is his comments that his children are "his life". He will have taught them nothing if he continues to try and get people to feel sorry for him in a public forum. He teaches his children nothing about honesty, integrity, or rational thinking when he behaves in this fashion. You were right to point out that he should have never have gotten out of the car in the first place. He had other options and he CHOSE not to use them.

I want to point out also in case he reads these messages that his attorney described him as the one who first was assaulted by the woman. Let me make it clear, that we all observed him placing his hands on the owner of the car and pushing him away to get into his vehicle FIRST! Further, after she watched him assault her brother and assault the photographer and turn and return to his car (which by the way was not moved), he approached her with his hand up. She had reason to believe that she was about to be assaulted and by slightly pushing him, she was only defending herself from what she believed was about to be an attack on her person.

The officers in the matter handled the matter calmly and without unnecessary force. To hear him say that he was treated any less because of his race sends me off the deep end. It is individuals like him trying to make a buck on their own stupidity that raises our rates on insurance, cost of consumer goods, etc. I hope that this appearance sends this guy and his cheap lawyer back to where they came from.

I will never think badly of my provider again!

After hearing the grief that people put up with from their cable providers in the states, I'm thanking my lucky stars. I'm amazed that there's not  a whole bunch of little old ladies with hammers. It sounds like the whole industry needs to be revamped.Ouch! You have my sympathy.

Moody,He was NOT a professional in his actions!!

I guess this is another case of 'civil rights' by a black person....

Oddly enough it was 2 "minority's"....go figure!!

he was out of line from the get go...

As they say, It made me so mad I could spit...so they pull the race card...now I am going to pull it...

is this what will happen if we elect a black president?

I can't believe I had the nerve to say that...

I am not mad....just curious..

In this case a picture is worth a thousand words...
