Dr. Phil continues delving into the lives of twin sisters, Yvette and Yvonne, who abuse pain pills. They live with their mother, with whom they have a volatile relationship, and the household is filled with fighting, screaming, cursing and even passing out in front of their children. Their father, Timothy, a former drug addict, joins the show. Why do they become emotional upon seeing him? Next, find out who else Yvonne blames for her drug problem. Then, Dr. Phil presses the twins to face the truth. Will these sisters acknowledge the emotional impact that they are having on their young children and make a change? And, when faced with the ultimate choice, will Yvette and Yvonne choose life or death? Talk about the show here.

Find out what happened on the show.

Choices

I watched your show about the twins and i know where they are coming from.  I am a mom of two and developed a habit at 36 years old.  To decide to go into rehab was the hardest thing i had ever done thinking about leaving my children for 90 days but in the end it was the most rewarding.  Going through treatment was challenging i comfronted demons i thought i had put to rest emotionally it was hard but worth it i now know more about myself then i ever had.  I have a great relationship with my children as well.  Unless these women are totally honest with themselves and other treatment will not work.  I slipped 6 months after i got out but went to my girlfriend and my children and told them right away what had happened being honest is key to anyones sucess.  Dr. Phil keep up the good work and i will be praying for these girls.

It is an ACCENT you genius!

Quote From: jus4fun

No this is not a drug slur they are speaking. I think it is a speech problem and it seems the whole family has it. Mixed in is a slight southern accent (I too am from the south and learned to speak in the south), but southern accents do not mispronounce words like they all do. Even the father speaks with this imperfection??? Could be do to who they all hang around with much of the time???
IT IS NOT A SPEECH PROBLEM OR A DRUG PROBLEM ALL OF YOU KNOW IT ALLS~IT IS CALLED AN ACCENT IF YOU WOULD CONSIDER SOMETHING AS COMMON AS THAT FIRST.  NOT EVERYONE IN THE WHOLE UNITED STATES SPEAKS THE SAME YOU KNOW!  I GREW UP/ STILL RESIDE IN THE TOWN THAT HEY LIVE IN.  MATTER OF FACT, MY BROTHER AND I WENT TO ELEM SCHOOL WITH THEM.   ANYWAY, WE ARE FROM SOUTH, I MEAN REALLY SOUTH LOUISIANA, SEVERAL MILES FROM THE GULF.  WE HAVE A STRONG FRENCH INFLUENCE AS MANY OF OUR OLDER FOLKS SPEAK FRENCH.  SO THERE, IT IS NOT A 'PROBLEM', IT IS OUR ACCENT AND OUR CULTURE.  LET ME KNOW WHERE YOU ARE FROM SO THAT I MAY INSULT YOUR CULTURE AND BACKGROUND!!

02/07 Pill Popping Twins, Part 2

I watched the show today and my heart went out the the twins.  I am going through similar problems in my life battling drugs off and on for over 18 years.  I lost custody of my twins when they were 8 to my mother.  They are now 18 and I have a 5 year old.  I have been to treatment 3 times so I know what treatment is about.  But no amount of treatment can help a person if they are not ready.  I actually cried when I watched this show.  I hope they can get the help they need and flourish to be healthy women.

Amen, someone who understands!!!!!  We should not be bad mouthing these women, but instead trying to lift them up.  Drug abuse numbs people from dealing with issues and problems from their past or present.

Dr. Phil called addiction to drugs a disease. No, it is not a disease. It is a choice people make. One does not get a disease by choice, except AIDS.  Those two drug addicted sisters made the choice to take those drugs. That is called a choice not a disease.

Jim

You are so harsh.  Let me pray you do not have a loved one get an addiction.

I am sorry but isn't what Dr. Phil is trying to do???? Help them!!!!! Do not forget, that you can not help those who do not want to be helped or don't even recognize that there is a problem.
Also, whenever the problem started they made the choice to start taking drugs and alcohol knowing very well the risks involved(in 2008 who does not know that drugs can be addictive as well as alcohol???).
These ladies have to take ownership for their actions and to be responsible enough to make the decision to go to rehab. NO ONE CAN DO IT FOR THEM!!!!

To MOMTOJDML: Kudos to you for turning your life around and being a responsible person, as I am certain that it was not easy. Wish you the best of luck and keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!

It isn't so!

One of the twins said that it was the fault of the doctors giving out these strong pain meds that causes the problem of addiction.  This just isn't so.  I have received these strong medications for 4.5 years and have been able to manage just fine with a very low dose, without increasing to a point of total disfunction and an out-of-control life.  True, a very small % of the population will develop an addiction, but doctors should not restrict prescibing these really helpful medications just because 2% of the population can't handle it.  There are those of us that could not have a normal life without them and I'm very thankful for these strong medications.  Very few of us that need these medications will get addicted to them.  We may become dependent on them for a functional life, but we will not become drug addicts!

Bad Choices

The one twin said she loved her kids more than anything.  Well, that's not true, she obviously loves the drugs more, or she wouldn't put her kids through this.  She CAN make a choice and I think she's made hers.

Concerned About the Children

My heart goes out to those children, now they are in the hands of their grandmother who admitted she drinks and gambles and yells at them often.  What kind of a life style is that.  I do believe Child Protective Services should keep a close eye on this family.  These children hopefully will get help as well and will not follow in the family footsteps and stop the addiction cycle.
