its all good you want a simple life,,we all would.. but ....i think GOD will for you is to work...why then would HE give you the intellegents you have just to do nothing and let you and your family live the way you do..He gave you a gift..this is the way you repay HIM?? some people would give anything to have what you have. God gave everyone a gift to use. its up to that person to use use it.. you my friend, are throwing it in His face..God will provide for those who help themselves..you are not..

 What someone needed to tell him was that Satan knows the bible too and who's voice is he listening to.  If what he is doing is not good and true then it is not of God. I was really surprised that you did not call the HRS to have the children taken away from them.  They are living in substandards and it is all about the kids.  The father and mother need prayer for God to open their eyes.  The father looked very lathargic on stage.   I was just sickened by the way they are living.    I live every day trusting in the Lord but the Lord gives us the desire but we need to do our part to make things happen.  We are the body of Christ. Meaning that we are the arms and legs to which the work of the Lord gets done and we have to do something.  Thanks for the ability to let us vent.

 Since this was originally aired back in Feb, I would like to knowif there's an update to this family. I'm also a religiousChristian-centered person, but I agree with the pastor and Dr. Phil in that the Bible isn't a buffet to pick and choose.  I've experienced family members "picking and choosing" scripture to suit their needs, some of it used to justify criticisms to others. .Perhaps all religious people do it to some degree or another, but this family is an extreme example of "picking and choosing" and missing the boat on what the scriptures teach and I feel for those children and I feel forJanna. I applaud her sense of commitment, but she has to step up since her husband won't. I understand her mother's POV, but I don't blame Janna for not listening to her as her mother is constantly critical and not displaying it in a loving action.

Maybe Dan can be a stay at home dad working on his dreams while Janna gets a job. I know that's not exactly the traditional way to be a stay-at-home parent in their religious beliefs, but something has togive here.

Anyone know any updates to this family?

That these parents need counseling and those kids need to be taken away from them. This is child neglect in it's highest form and personally their college educations were a waste of money!

I'm not saying that this man shouldn't get a job, because he should. And I'm not saying the bible doesn't say that a man is not required to provide for his family, because it does; but just not a 1 Timothy 5:8. This is without question the first and foremost verse that people use to support such a view. But if you read the context, it's not talking about a husband's responsibility at all. It's talking about provision for widows AFTER the husband is dead for goodness sakes ! The person or persons this passage is talking about are the widow's children and/or grandchildren who do not provide for their widowed mother and/or grandmother. They are the ones who are worse than unbelievers if they do not provide for their widowed mother and/or grandmother. And certainly not the father. Because afterall he's dead. So how can he be worse than an unbeliever for not providing for his family from beyond the grave ?  The context is clear as the difference between night and day. And anyone who disagrees is obviously suffering from cognitive dissonance.

Is it me or did anyone else come to the same conclusion as me...that this husband/father is not thinking with a full deck?  Like, maybe he's behind the wheel but the engine just ain't runnin'?  He definitely appeared to be mentally ill to me. 

i think that this guy found a gold mine in jannas parents and told himself that he shouldn't have to work when her parents are going to pay for everything. But since they said that they will stop supporting them from now on, now janna said they will get a job. come on, that is the oldest hustle in the world.

How could these people put their children through a life like this?!? Two college graduates sitting around watching their kids sleep on cold hard floors with no running water or food! Apply for state help or something! He could be a substitute teacher and make a $100 a day or she could waitress at night ! I would dig ditches before I would let my kids go hungry! Please give these people some birth control! what kind of quality of life for the kids is this!?! I am so infuriated by these lazy, selfish people!
