my daughter and granddaughter had mrsa

Last year my daughter had a kidney stone...i took her to the emergency room and then a few weeks later she developed a lesion..she showed it to a dr friend and he said that it was a boil and it is caused from being overweight....my daugter tld him she had never had one and she had been overweight most of her adult life....then i insisted on her seeing our regular family dr...when she examined kelly she tld her that she thought it was a boil..by then several had came and went...kelly voiced her concerns that it cld be mrsa and the dr said no that is not what it is and gave her medicine...after taking all the medicine they kept coming back and she called the dr and she gave her another round...still came back...then my granddaughter who is six asked me to look at her back...i thought she might have hurt herself, but within a few days there was one on her thigh and the one on her back was an open wound and puss filled...that was on a sunday and i tld my daughter that i wanted her in the dr. office monday morning...when a culture was ran it was mrsa...kelly called the family dr to tell her that now her daughter has mrsa and that she  had it all along...then the dr. asked what the child was given and she perscribed that for kelly...they bought now have bruises where the lesions were...they were tld that it wld take months for these to clear up...and what really bothers me, if my granddaughter hadn't have gotten this my daughter wld still be self medicating herself for this...she was treating them as if they were boils...why aren't dr's more educated abt this and what to look for...i have to agree with oprah when she says if something is bothering you listen to your heart....kelly's heart tld her it was mrsa and she tried to tell the dr, but she was just brushed off...if she had been listen too my granddaugher wld not have had to gone thru this....and another thing that is frightening is that a nursing student that works at our local hospital said so many patients were coming in for something else and then when they leave they develop mrsa and now the insurance is refusing to pay for them to be rehospitalized to treat the mrsa...they are telling the hospitals to take responsibility...

Universal Precautions

I recently contracted two viruses while working for a home health and hospice organization. I was not in an actual health care position, but I witnessed with my own eyes nurses who did not use universal precautions.  I believe that one of the nurses or aides somehow brought the viruses into the office.

My daughter worked two nights at our local hospital as an aide.  She saw that the aides and nurses there were not using universal precautions.  MRSA was present in that ward, as it was most likely in the others.  Having a six-month-old daughter, and a mother who has low resistance, she quit the job.

Precautions and procedures are in place for a reason.

Help you can get right now

I am sitting here watching the show and am amazed how no one has mentioned a treatment you can get now that kills MRSA- that product is nanoparticle colloidal silver. You can buy this at most health food or vitamin stores. I prefer the product that is manufactured by American Biotech Labs as they have done studies showing how this product can save lives. I have personally used this product for chronic sinus infections and also given to my elderly mother in law for a MRSA infection she got after eye surgery. She went through 5 different antibiotics and nothing worked until I gave her the silver and she applied to her eye. Whithin 3 days the infection was better and within a week it had cleared. Her doctor was amazed. Please do the research on the web regarding this product and be careful of products that are not nanoparticle colloidal silver. There is a lot of information regarding this and no one should wait to see a doctor if you have MRSA.

Outrageous!!!!

I am absolutely outraged at the information presented in today's show by the medical establishment which has caused this problem to become more and more serious because of their continued overuse of antibiotics and their developement of even stronger ones, which in just a short time create more antibiotic resistant strains.  This has got to stop!! If you really want to protect yourself or cure yourself of this horrible disease, stay out of hospitals and away from the medical establishment.  Visit your local health-food store or contact an alternative-medicine practioner or one practicing homeopathy.  Alternative treatments are the only means to cure this.  A natural anitbiotic called Oil of Oregano (Oregamax) brand is the best I have found will get rid of this very quickly.  The oil is the most effective and the strongest, but the capsules work well also.    I am disgusted and outraged that our Congress is trying to regulate safe supplements such as vitamins and herbs with no proven deaths attributed to them, while they allow the medical establishment to kill over 100,000 people a year through diseases like this and other medical mistakes.

Outrageous!!!

Healthy & Trying not to be paranoid..

I have heard that we shouldn't be so paranoid about wiping down surfaces in our house.  Products like Lysol and other antibacterials kill all bacteria, even the good kind that actually help us stay healthy.   I thought that doing over using antibiotics and antibacterials is what created the Super Bug in the first place.  If we keep using the antibacterials all the time, we're just going to create more Super Bugs in the future.  I keep my house clean using Eco friendly products that I know are safe for my kids and dog to be around.  We are a very healthy family and I hope it stays that way.

On the other hand, I do see how its a good idea for hospitals, school locker rooms, and places like that to be scrubbed down always.  Those are definitely high risk areas.

MRSA in my 2 year old daughter

My name is Deanna and I have a 2 year old daughter Shelby.  She has struggled with severe ear infections since she was 3 months old.  We decided about 5 months ago to have tubes inserted to help with this problem.  About 8 weeks ago she started having severe drainage from her left ear.  We made and appt with her ENT doctor and the prescribed ear drops, normal protocol I guess.  We gave my daughter these drops as directed for 10 days.  On the 6 day, I was NOT seeing any improvement so I contacted the doctor again.  They advised to continue with the drops for the full 10 days.  My daughter seemed to be getting much worse.  We took her to the ER and she was seen and they advised me to contact the ENT to get more ear drops, which I did.  After almost 3 weeks of fighting this, Shelby was very sick and we took her to the ER again.  This time a doctor decided to culture her drainage.  We found out 3 days later that is tested positive for MRSA.  Our family doctor prescribed Bactrim, a commom antibiotic used to treat MRSA.  Shelby used the medicine for the 10 days as directed and she was tested again.  This test also was positive for MRSA.  I have made numerious calls to the doctors and specialist and I feel like I am getting no where, PLEASE HELP ME find answers.  I am VERY concerned for  my daughter.  HELP ME!!

I HAVE THE SUPERBUG!!!!

I have been battling MRSA for about 9 months!!  My doctor has taken the same "lax" attitude about it.  I have been "tested", he was NOT required to report it to anyone.  That bothers me!!  My doc says it is something that we "carry" and as mine moves back and forth from armpit to armpit he just prescribes Bactrim and says if it doesn't stop, at some point he'll put me on the med for a couple of months and see if that helps.  I didn't get this while being IN the hospital!  I have NO IDEA how I got it to the point of knots/breaking out/sores, etc.  My doc can't figure out how I get in on my armpits, back and forth, but just scoffs at it like it's not serious.  I'm soooo frustrated!!!!

My husband now breaks out (anywhere on his body!!).  I am terrified I will give it to my kids (I have 4!!).

My doc NEVER indicated there was a "specialist" that I could see, like an infectious control doctor!!  The 19 yr old young lady on Dr Phil today said she gets large spots the size of a pingpong ball.  Mine get to the size of a fist, I have to drain them daily, they hurt soooo bad, and I feel like a freak.  I'm not getting them as often as I was, but am still very concerned.

If you are reading this and have any advise (professional please!!), I need to know what I should do, see, not do, whatever.  Thank you!!
