I am sitting here watching the show and am amazed how no one has mentioned a treatment you can get now that kills MRSA- that product is nanoparticle colloidal silver. You can buy this at most health food or vitamin stores. I prefer the product that is manufactured by American Biotech Labs as they have done studies showing how this product can save lives. I have personally used this product for chronic sinus infections and also given to my elderly mother in law for a MRSA infection she got after eye surgery. She went through 5 different antibiotics and nothing worked until I gave her the silver and she applied to her eye. Whithin 3 days the infection was better and within a week it had cleared. Her doctor was amazed. Please do the research on the web regarding this product and be careful of products that are not nanoparticle colloidal silver. There is a lot of information regarding this and no one should wait to see a doctor if you have MRSA.
Do you have any links to these studies?

My 5 year old has CA MRSA

Like other people on the show we have had little advice on what to do. I have no clue if we got rid of it but hopefully we did. I'm freaking out right now. She had the same thing as that little 18 month old girl. She doesn't have a current outbreak and I think we have got it under control if not gone, but obviously we need to have her tested again soon. She got this MRSA, community aquired when she was potty training, we went in every store everywhere...god only knows where she got it from.
Anyone have any advice?

I'm worried I may have MRSA!

Last October I got these sores in my nose that are VERY painful and would not go away. In December I went to the doctor for another problem and asked about my nose. I was told I needed to leave the scabs alone, apply antibiotic ointment to the sores and they would go away. Well, they finally went away in early January, but they are coming back.

I first heard about MRSA about the time that I got the sores in my nose but no one ever mentioned that the infection could affect the nose so I blew it off. Now, after watching the show today I am scared to death! I could not believe how many times it was said that MRSA could be in the nose. I have two children and a one year old grand daughter that I am now very concerned about.

What testing needs to be done to verify if this is MRSA? What questions should I ask my doctor without sounding like a paranoid freak? I just so happen to have a doctors appointment tomorrow morning and I want to ask about it, I just don't want to sound stupid. I know nothing about MRSA, except that it's highly contagious and can be deadly. Any help that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated!

MRSA Info/ I have been battling it for 4 yrs!!!

In March of 2004, I developed a pea sized knot on my 'bottom'.  It was incredibly painful, and within days, I couldn't sit down.  I went to a Dr. and was prescribed Avelox.  He called my knot a "boil" and told me it was a staff infection.  He didn't swab the wound or my nose to check for MRSA.  The Avelox worked well enough to make the boil go away- after it had exploded and drained on it's own.  Within a week of stopping the 10 day treatment of Avelox, I got another boil.  This time under my arm.  I went to another Dr. with the same results.  He gave me a different antibiotic.  The results were the same.  The boil would clear up and I would get another within days of stopping antibiotics.  After several more boils and several more Drs. I found a Dr that actally swabbed the boil and my nose and I was told I had MRSA.  Although the Doc didn't know a great deal about MRSA, she did prescribe 30 days of Bactrim, and gave me an antibiotic RX to swab inside my nose.  I did not get another boil after that for about 6 months.  Since 2004, I still get boils about every 5 or 6 months.  I have noticed that I get one when I am really stressed out and when I am eating a lot of junk food and sugar. I have done a great deal of research on my own, and have found that eating an organic diet and staying away from sugar, flour (bread) and fried foods have helped keep the MRSA at bay.  During my research, I heard about the fact that the spice, Turmeric, has been used in India for hundreds of years as a natural blood purifier.  I figured that since it was just a spice you can get a the store, it couldn't hurt to try it.  I had a boil to appear one night and it got huge quickly.  I took a tablespoon of Trumeric in a cup of warm water, (yuck) that night, and by the next morning, it was GONE.  I mean gone.  Since then I have purchased Turmeric tablets at my local Whole Foods Store, and I take a couple of them every day and I have not had much problem with boils, as long as I don't have a junk food binge for days on end. I also bought my own Sauna, which many health spas have.  I have found that the deep sweating also helps to keep the MRSA from flairing up.  I hope this helps someone!!!

MRSA - Colloidal Silver

I heard a Master Herbalist speaker about 6 months back. If I remember correctly - COLOIDAL SILVER - was recommended for the MRSA.

It is an herb that can be purchased through www.naturesunshine.com. It's called Silver Shield. I don't know dosage or anything like that, but I do know that herbs should be taken at least 1 hour apart from medication.

I hope this helps.

MRSA is NOT A VIRUS!!!!

I am  biology teacher and I think it is awful that Dr. Phil's show is giving WRONG INFORMATION! MRSA or Methicillian resistant Stapholococcus Aureus is a BACTERIA!!!! Viruses and Bacteria are completely different and act in different ways. First of all, viruses do NOT respond to antibiotics!!!!! MRSA is resistant to Methicillian, so it is a BACTERIA!!!! I think that if Dr. Phil is going to try to help people, maybe he should stick to topics that he is better informed on. And a "superbug" needs to be explained about what it is, not just thrown around in conversation like people know what it it!!!!!

Battling MR

My husband and I have been battling MRSA for almost a year now. We have each had it 4 and  5 times being on antibiotics for 30 days each time. Our MRSA has responded well to the antibiotics but hey what is it going to take to rid our body of this horrible bug? We are now both scheduled to see an Infectious Disease doctor on the 11th of April. It's really taking a toll on us emotionally and physically.

Superbug

I went to the doc with a swollen left side of my face from a small bump above my lip.  They drained it and gave me antibotics and told me to come back yesterday.  A lot of the swelling had gone down but the doc said it had quit draining and was hard so they had to reopen the place,  I almost came unglued.  They said the biopsy was a staff infection and to take the packing out today and begin to clean it out with a cutip and peroxide which we did.  I go back friday and I am so scared that I have sprayed everything with Lysol and we are washing our hands a lot and putting a ointment in our noses everyday.  I will call and find out what kind of staff that I have.  I don't want to get perinoid but I do want to be careful.  My face and life is important to me plus my husband.

If you can give me anymore advice I would be thankful.

Hello Mellisa,

I live in North Alabama. In the past year I have seen a Master Herbalist out of Pelham, AL.   www.go-natural.com   She has helped me tremendously with herbs for my health; as well as others I know.    I remember her make a reference to MRSA and using Colloidal Silver   www.naturessunshine.com are excellent products. I use them. The product name is SILVER SHIELD.   I don't know what dosages, but I do know that herbs should be taken at least one hour apart from medications.   I hope this helps you.
