Don’t miss Dr. Phil’s exclusive interview with Brianna Denison's mother who is speaking out for the first time since her daughter's body was found. Nineteen-year-old Brianna made headlines when she was kidnapped while she slept on a friend's couch. Brianna's killer – an alleged serial rapist -- is still on the loose in Reno, NV. And, a controversial issue is heating up the headlines: Where should registered sex offenders live when they’re released from prison? Residents of Long Beach, California say not in their neighborhood. They’re outraged that an apartment building is allegedly housing 13 registered sex offenders, and the building owner is reportedly receiving $1,000 per month to house them. Former tenants, James and Getania, were disgusted to learn that the sex offenders were living in their building, and local residents weren’t happy either. Dawna owns several properties near the apartment complex. She says she’s losing tenants and the sex offenders are stalking others. Then, Jake Goldenflame, a registered sex offender who was convicted of molesting his daughter and young boys over 25 years ago, says he's still attracted to teenage boys, but says people like him have no resources and need to live somewhere. What does Dr. Phil think? Should the sex offenders be forced to leave the community, or should their neighbors just learn to live with them? If it's happening now, Dr. Phil is going to deal with it now! Join the discussion.

Quote From: bnparadis2day

IN MY MIND I BELIEVE THAT IT SHOULD BE MADE AWARE TO ALL THAT THERE IS AN OFFENDER IN ALL DWELLINGS!!! THERE SHOULD BE A COLORED SIGN ON THE MAILBOX OR ON THE HOUSE SIGNIFYING A SEX OFFENDER OF ANY TYPE.WE NEED TO COME UP WITH A SYMBOL AND MAKE IT LAW TO BE POSTED AT ALL OF THESE"-------------"RESIDENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just to let you know ,not all those dots on the map are sex offenders.most of them are crimes of mooning someone or peeing in a park. even though those things are not even close to nice to do they are listed as sex offenders in which the world wants to be hung.

SEXUAL PREDITORS

Quote From: gwarrior6

It's very scary to know how many sex offenders live next to you!  There are about 170 in the 10 mile radius from where I live (I need to move).  There's about 20 that live half a mile away!  It's a shocking reality check, thats for sure.

You can find out the # of sex offenders that live in your area, their names, addresses and pictures from the the family watchdog site:

http://www.familywatchdog.us/

What to do when the jails are so overcrowded that these sociopaths are free?

I WENT TO WWW.MEGANSLAW.NY.GOV AND SAW THAT THERE ARE 2 PREDITORS IN MY AREA BUT I HAD TO PAY A FEE TO GET THE INFO ON THEM THIS IS OUTRAGOUS! WHY DO I NEED TO PAY A FEE TO KEEP MY CHILDREN SAFE? MAYBE I DID NOT DO IT CORRECTLY PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS A DIFFERANT SITE THAT I CAN GO TO, TO FIND OUT ABOUT THESE  PREDITORS IN MY AREA.

I think before people start judging others they should be more informed to know exactly what they are talking about.  A sex offender is a human being whether you want to accept that fact or not. And "sex offenders" is not even the right term to use because many of them have only offended once and yet they are called sex offenders as though they will always offend.  And as far as labeling people, why don't they have labels for drug addicts, drunk drivers, and other felons who can harm our children?  Why do we squirm at the word sex offender?  We squirm because we hear all the "bad news" about those few who are sick and who would offend again and again.  So does that mean we should treat them all the same?  I don't think so.  I think the law is so unjust when it comes to so called "sex offenders."  It is bad enough that they can't find anyplace to live, and that they have to register, but for the police to send out fliers to the community is not only wrong, but it puts the person and their families in danger. How many people have been harassed or killed because they find out a "sex offender" has moved near them?  Maybe you don't even care and think it serves them right.  But you do not even know them or the story behind their arrest in the first place.

I have children and grandchildren and my heart goes out to those who have gone through some horrible experience because of a sex offender.  But they are not all the same.  And many are never given a second chance.  They have to die with that label.  And no matter what their story is- behind all the hysteria- some have been punished more than anyone should ever be punished.  Some have never seen their grandchildren because the law prohibits any contact whatsoever with children and this is for all sex offenders, whether they are pedophiles, whether they offended once, whether it was a 19 year old that was turned in by a 17 year's old mom, or whether they were drunk and urinating and someone saw them and turned them in.  There are way too many reasons why people are labeled sex offenders and to treat them all the same is totally unjustifiable.

And do you really feel comfortable knowing where they all live?  Can't this give people a false sense of security?  Sex offenders of all sorts are walking around every day.  They may be someone in line in front of you at the bank.  They could be someone you had a nice chat with at the grocery store yesterday.  They could be someone cleaning your carpets. They could be anyone you come in contact with on a daily basis.  So what now? Do we register where they  work or what they do for a living? Wake up, people!  We have normal everyday people who can have a clean record and all of a sudden may wind up killing, raping, or molesting someone.  What parents and the community needs to do is take care of their children and do the best they can to keep them away from all danger.  We will never have a perfect world.  We are all sinners.  That is how it will always be.  We cannot go on picking on one class of felons and make them our main focus.  I wish the world was safer for our children, but it is not. We  will always have drunk drivers, killers, rapist, burglars, drug dealers, and all kinds of law breakers no matter what we do.  I just wish people knew more about sex offenders before they classified all of them as being evil or being sociopaths.  I feel sorry for those who can't see what they are doing as being totally wrong.  And I feel sorry for those who are so ready to cast the first stone.  I sure wish Dr. Phil would have talked to me for this show.

Hum. I don't recall corresponding with you but ok. Sorry. I didn't mean to offend anyone with this reply but it's the basis of the subject. If parents would correct their kids early like the bible says (foolishness is bound into the heart of a child, but the rod of correction will drive it far from him), it sets kids on the right path early. Our education system is so messed up today and kids aren't being corrected like they should by the parents or the schools because of fear of the law. So bad kids lead to bad adults often as we see from the prisons being full. So many people live in fear today. We try to protect ourselves and our kids but we always have to be looking at everyone with suspicion. These offenders are possessed if you will by offending spirits. Yes they are real and very active today no matter how much you deny them. There's no way they can fight them by themselves. Many offenders problems starts early in life and escalate further. Some kids listen to acid rock with lyrics saying to kill their parents and some do just from being instructed by the lyrics. When Madam O'hara pressed to take prayer out of the schools back in '64, this made things worse. Education in math, science ect. is great but there also has to be spiritual education. When gangs fight and kill each other, their not fighting just to fight. They're trying to gain power and domination over the other. I've seen time after time parents that pray for their kids daily seem to have angels following them. Something happens where they normally should have been but oddly weren't there that time or just missed them. So I believe if kids start out early with proper education, correction and good spiritual growth, we would see far less offenses than there are today.
Don't be sorry...... You have a right to speak your mind.  We should be offended that people call Christians "holy rollers."  To leave God out of it is the problem and people just don't see that.  They don't believe in God or they could be angry at the world, but it gives them no right to offend us as Christians speaking up for what we believe in.  Just because they do not believe in God's word, it gives them no right to judge those who do.  So I can preach if I want to and it will offend someone, oh well.  As a Christian, I am tired of being offended by those who are not.  And I do believe that God set rules to be followed and that not all people will ever follow them because it is just our sinnerful nature that we commits crimes and do wrong to others.  No matter what --I believe in God's word and if the country had not turned they hearts from God, it would not be in such the mess it is in now.  Oh what will it take for people to wake up?  God bless you all.

Teach your sons and shut up already

To all the sex offenders hugers out there,  I hear all the mamams, and wifes,  out there complaining that their sex offender is different,  MY poor 19 21 25 year old boy, was trick by a 12, 14 15, year old girl, and that they shouldn't be held in the same class of men on the sex offenders reg. they are not there are different levels, an can be gotten off the web site Dr. phil is giving out.

This show was not about your little mama boys or sad man. it was how to protect our children

not a pitty party, about mama's boys who broke the law.

I can hear it now, my son needs to be protected from lying little girls,  well I guess you should of sat your sons down again and gave him anouther sex talk when they turned 18, and told him about the new risk out there,  along with how not to get a girl pregant, or stds.  You  should of warn him about the lying little girls, and if you get caught you will go to jail, and you will have to reg. as a sex offender for 10 years or the rest of your life.  There are many dangers out there, and  they didn't have to do the act,

The child is not going to jail forlying and  having sex, the adult will,

women and girls have been blamed for years and years, for the the mans lack of control sexually. so give me a break, they could of  should of keeped it in  their pants.

The tide has turned and the free pass older boys and men, saving sex with children are over,

It was the law when your sons and husband  Ignored andcommitted the act, there for they will paay for breaking the law like everyone else.

and ignorance of the law is no defence, in any court room.

Hello?  "Free speech garbage"????  Are you kidding me?

And exactly how do you know what our founding fathers intended?  Exactly how old are you?  I don't believe they intended people to have Uzis, but you right-wing types seem to think they did.

The constitution is fairly clear on some topics, like free speech garbage.  I find NAMBLA disgusting, I think most people do.  But the problem becomes who do you want to decide what is free speech "garbage" and what isn't?

You?  I don't think so

G. "Dumbya" Bush?  Please no

So who?

IT'S CALLED THE RIGHT TO BARE ARMS,  AND IT WAS ONE OF THE FIRST THING OUR FOUNDING FATHERS BUT IN THE CONSITUTION. TO PROTECT OUR RIGHTS, AGAINST OUR OWN GOVERMENT OR FOREIGN GOVERMENTS.

DO THE CRIME DO THE TIME...

Quote From: tina3940

First off, you don't know my son and you don't know the situation. So I won't let you get to me, I am sure your life is wonderful and perfect and nothing and nobody will ever make any mistakes. I am happy for you. I suggest you watch 20/20 next Friday , and the one that was on last night, maybe someone can let you know what it was about  Friday March 7th. It was about this subject manner.  So as far as these young men having sex with young girls 15. Well, maybe you don't know some girls that are 15, they sure act, look, talk,  and dress older than I did when I was that age and guess what, that is a problem. So it isn't that these young men WANT to molest a child, they think they are with an adult, someone close to their age, they were fooled.  And no, not everyone asks for I.D.  My son didn't get his drivers lisense till he was 19.  I am very sorry for anyone on here that has gone through terrible things with their children. Some people out there are truly monsters, hurting kids but there are some young men out there that are getting a label of a monster that they just were being normal young guys wanting a girl friend with a girl that seems to be their equal. Our kids know so much more these days. It is making our children grow up faster than they need to. Look at alot of the role models they have. Britney Spears sister is pregnant by an older kid than her. Come on!  My husband is 5 years older than me. My daughter dated a guy 18 when she was 15, she ended up marrying him after 8 years of dating. He sure was no sex offender but I could have turned it into that if I wanted to. That is what happens sometimes, something innocent gets turned into something ugly out of anger and fear.

I know your his mom and you can only see it though your eyes,  but I see it a different way, though the law. I'm sure when your son got his license, you reminded him if he drinks and drives and gets caught, he will go to jail, lose his licenses, and it will be hard to get in school, get a job,  and you would tell him that the act of drinking and driving would not be worth all that he will lose,  so don't do it, you don't have to drink and drive,

The samething aplys to your son and the law he broke when he had sex with a minor, He shouldn't of had sex with someone he didn't know. He was in charge of his own body, not her. the boys will be boys excuse is not working any more,  you can not control any one but yourself, he choose to have sex, he took a risk, as the person who drinks and drive does,  that person doesn't want to kill someone, or in the best situation, go to jail, lose their licenses, and pay for it, by losing out on things he would of had if he didn't commit the act.

I will say it again ignorence of the law is not a defence, this girl did not rape your son, he went there willing , he took that chance,

people lie, its up to you to protect yourself,  ask anyone out there who has gotten a std, from a sex partner, most will say, they lied to me, they said they where clean. and now they have to live with it, the act of beleiveing someone can hurt you.

Virginia sex offender registry

Here is a link to the Virginia site, run by the state police.  They also just did a 'sweep' of illegal aliens who are also sex offenders; I know because we had a registered offender on my court of 9 houses and his name disappeared from the site.  He was from Bolivia based on what I could find out, and also illegal. Now he is at a detention center, waiting to be deported.

Quote From: getrealtime

You can what if something to death. if we what if anyone charge with a crime there would be no one in prison, if a man takes the plea, he knew what he was in for,  heres one for you what if he did it and he took the plea because he would serve less time, and after he gets out he rapes someone you love, and what if everyone felt like you do, there was no sex offenders reg. and if there was one it could of saved the person you loved a life time of tears.            your what ifs........................

I pray nothing like this ever happens to someone in your family or someone you love. Because if it does you will see how important the "what ifs" are. And you may not believe it but innocent people are accused and put in jail every day. Some pleas are taken out of fear of the system. A system that does not work in many cases for either party. It is the only system we have but it comes up lacking.

I would covet your prayers for our family and loved one and the accuser and family. This is a bad situation and we all must endure with faith and love for all involved. Please try not to be so willing to believe the worst because you hear the words S.O.
