Topic : Dr. Phil Now Segments

Dr. PHil not feeling the "NOW" segment.  But, I always need my daily dose of Dr. Phil. Keep doing what you are doing because I LOVE your show!

While I was watching this episode of Dr Phil now I think that there is to much focus in the world on celeberties.  Why not focus on the people that have worked hard for everything they have and have to fight to keep what they have.  I have stopped going to the movies even buying cd, or dvds because I was just giving them more money and I dont want to give them any more money I think that they get too much as it is.  The way gas prices are raising I might not even be able to afford tv, internet or my phone soon.  It makes me so angry that pictures of celebs are selling for 1-2 million dollars when there are people in the world that are drowning in debt, dont know if they are going to be able to pay there bills next month because there husband, wife or child got sick and now not only did they have to pay for gas to get them to the hospital or doctor but they have to pay the doctor or hospital which puts them further and further behind.  Then they have to take that money out of there ever shrinking budget which takes away from grocerys and next weeks gas.  It makes me sick that people are paying that much money for pictures people shouldnt  care about.  There are so many other things in the word that money could and should go to.  If people in the world would stop buying this trash then people like me wouldnt have to see it or hear about it.  I dont care who is or isnt wearing underware, when people pass its sad to hear but dont interupt regular tv programing for it that is what the new is for and dont drag it out for months. What happens after they pass is between there family and friends not the whole world.  It gets to be too much when its the only thing you see when you turn on the tv.  There are so many things wrong in the world today lets not turn our focus onto people we dont know and will never meet.  Dont feed into the crap and hopefully it will go away.  Turn off the tv and play with your kids, go for a walk, or just get out of your house.  What is on TMZ, and other shows like that is not life it is people getting stalked and harrassed or it is just a bunch of young girls trying to make something of them selves in the wrong way.  

I don't mind the "NOW" segments.  They really don't change my opinion of the show one bit, negative or positive.  If Dr. Phil gets a few more regular viewers from them, then FANTASTIC!  That means higher ratings and more seasons of a daily show for me.  I like Dr. Phil and I'll listen to his discussions regardless the setting.  In fact, when I watch morning news I say to myself, "this would make a great "NOW" segment."  This morning I had such a moment the second I heard about the 8 teen girls under arrest for beating on another girl and taping it with intent of putting it online.  Then when I saw one of the mother's interviews, I wanted Dr Phil to interview her.  She was mental!  Great "Now" show, or regular show about bullies.

About tabloid and the stalkaratzi:  I'm so over it.  The only tabloid show I watch just started called "Pop Fiction."  I feel bad for celebrities, they get paid to entertain us because that is there job.  I don't bother my doctor when he's not at work, so why should stars get pestered when they aren't working.  They do red carpet and other publicity events so pictures can be taken.  My sister and I play a game where we stop and think before we get out of the car how horrible it would be to have a dozen of people with cameras yelling at us.  I don't support the rag mags, shows or websites and if others joined in ignoring, they'll go away.

 I did watch Dr Phil's shows on that and then Ms Spears.  Spears I actually care about because I feel so sorry for her right now, and would hate to see her get hurt.  I've watched her grow up and I feel for her.  I also think the "media" was unfair to Dr Phil. 

I have to admit, I haven't seen many of these, I've been out of touch with TV for about 3 months now. The ones I DID see were at the beginning of the season, and they were not subjects I was really interested in so I was irritated that the normal schedule was pre-empted.

However, the premise for the NOW shows is a good one, I think. It helps to get potentially explosive and polarizing issues out there in a moderated discussion for the world to witness instead of relying on the internet, news media, or local gossippers to fill you in.  How many of you regular Dr Phil viewers tne in to other types of interview shows? Judging by the number of posts on B Spears awhile back, I would guess that most of the people who watch Dr Phil and come here also rate "Entertainment Tonight" and "Extra" as the shows they regularly watch.

I'm not saying that's a bad thing, I'm just saying that maybe the good doc is trying to widen the viewer's perceptions by introducing discussions on current events as they happen. You know, start  dialogue before the majority has it's collective mind made up by it's usual methods.
