How would you feel if an airline banned you for how you looked? According to two young women, they’ve been banned for life from flying Southwest Airlines. Sarah and Nisreen made national news when they were escorted off a plane because they say the airline had a problem with them because they were “young and decent-looking” and their flight attendants were “middle-aged.” Southwest denies treating the women unfairly because of their appearance and says the women used vulgar language, obscene gestures and aggressive behavior. Joining the conversation is Kyla, who says she was told by Southwest that her outfit was too skimpy, and two other passengers who say the airline booted them because they were women. Then, McKay is a 15-year-old on a mission to end cussing. He founded a No Cussing Club at his high school and wants to inspire others to stop swearing and examine the power of words. McKay’s campaign has even motivated his mayor to pass a proclamation for a No Cussing Week in his hometown. Don’t miss reactions from the teen’s family and classmates! If it’s happening now, Dr. Phil is going to deal with it now! Join the discussion.

airline attendants

Back when my son was five, I had to fly to German with my two children.  I was exhausted already and so looking forward to being reunited with my military husband and having the whole ordeal behind me. I had flown from Colorado to South Carolina to visit my parents because I was being the dutiful daughter and visiting my parents before I had to leave the country for the first time in my life to be in a foreign country at least three years.  My parents didn't see it that way.  I was using them as a hotel stopover.  What????  I was devastated.  I could have gone straight to Germany from Colorado. It was the first time I had ever been on an airplane.   I was 30 years old.  My children were 10 and 5 years.  I was emotionally and physically drained.

We were on the plane and after a while, our meals were brought to us with what the kids were eating arriving first.  I had my son's plate in front of me cutting his meat and an attendant came up to me and practically growled at me, "that's food for the children".  It was embarrassing by the way she talked to me.and my hackles started rising. I wanted to give her a peice of my mind but I didn't want to get arrested for being "out of line".   Don't tell me airline attendants aren't ever snotty.  Because I was chubby, she thought I was going to eat my son's food???  When my brain starts working overtime, I would even imagine that these people are so bored with what they do because they aren't educated to do anything different, they have to make some drama and they can spot a target and make it happen.  I know I'm being melodramatic and I know that all airline attendants aren't bored or even on a power trip.  I have a very dear friend who use to be one. She has so much going for her in personality and special gifts and knowledge, she could entertain the president if she needed to.   What burns my butter is that these girls kept saying they were accompanied by their parents and there were girls behind them who were being loud and obnoxious.  I believe they deserve a hearing on this insident and restitution and an apology.  But I wasn't there and I'm not sure I like the way Dr. Phil handled the whole interview.  It was obvious he is sympathic toward the airline people.  People say things about an embarrassing moment and later on, don't even remember what they said on the subject.  He kept trying to intimidate them and insisting they were lying about what they said by reading "his notes". It was like he was more interested in his notes and not what they were saying.   I "listened" to what they said and I didn't get that they were trying to be deceptive about the situation.  I got that they were totally distressed about the way they were treated and totally confused about why they were treated so badly.   And what's with that other previous guest??  She was totally off in left field.

Flygirls

Ok, what was she doing banging on the door to the bathroom anyway. I have been on enough flights to see that they have the lights on when the bathrooms are occupied.

thank you ramair!!!

Quote From: ramair

At least she watched the show. Did you? How these girls' brattiness escaped anyone who watched the show is beyond me. And, it wasn't just the airline's word against theirs. Another passenger noticed, and commented on, their behavior. Throughout the flight.  It didn't start with the altercation. It started before the plane left the runway.

Thank you ramair!  That person obviously just focused on the words "twentysomething" and "brats" and twisted it into something entirely different from what I was saying. Then to top it off she tells ME not to pass judgements?

ANYONE who watched the show could not have missed the attitudes and brattiness and sense of entitlement of these girls.  And you didn't even have to pay close attention to see how they twisted things and even tried to deny what was on paper right in front of them.  They were brats and they were twentysomething but that does NOT translate into me "assuming all twentysomethings are brats".

fly girls

It is obvious that these girls are looking for monetary settlements. The airline has apologized. They also gave gifts. Some not all behaviors should be addressed. This country has these crazy laws that you can sue any body. People take advantage of that. Dr.Phil you should be taking on more serious issues. Your show becomes boring when you start talking about people and their greed.

OMG

Ok...these two girls need to SHUT UP. Sorry, but I don't believe a word they say. I don't usually react this way, but HOLY HELL.

What a couple of egocentric little spoiled brats.

SERIOUSLY......

These 2 young ladies should be embarrassed and I think that they are at this point.  I am an attractive young woman who has a terrible fear of flying and Southwest Airlines is the only airline that I do fly as long as they fly to my destination.  Let me tell you why....  before each flight I go online to try and deal with my fear of flying.... the number 1 suggestion that was given to me was to approach the pilots and introduce myself to create a personal connection.  Well, given what happened on 9/11 - I thought that would be impossible.  Not only once, but on several occasions - Southwest pilots took me into the cockpit and explained how safe it is to fly and what occurs during a flight.  This was just one of my amazing experiences through Southwest Airlines.  Every single flight I have taken with them has been a wonderful experience - from making my reservations to changing my flights to boarding the plane - helping me with my fear of flying - to the landing - and departing the plane.  I have worn various outfits of all different style types depending on where I am flying..... These girls are attention seeking and I think Southwest is wonderful and will continue to ONLY fly with Southwest..... What they are claiming is shocking.... and I don't believe it.... I love Southwest.....

get over yourself

C'mon! Any time you stuff a lot of people in a small space, we each have to bend over backwards to be even more courteous than normal. Banging on the door? Demanding water as soon as you get in the door? It's obvious these girls were abusing the whole idea, "the customer is always right". That's just not the case when the customer is demanding, spoiled and so full of themselves they can't even show the slightest courtesy to the staff and other customers. Why do these folks think it's ok to act like complete idiots in public and treat the crew as though they were there to serve them rather than what they really are: hard-working folks that are in charge of the safety of each and every passenger on that plane. I hope these girls don't fly Southwest any more. Less crap for those of us that do.

MC KAY , A Wise Young Man

I am so sick and tired of cell phone users shouting curse words on the train that I wear earplugs. They are so cocksure that their "audience" is so enthralled with their gift of gab, they talk even louder. WHAT SELF-CENTERED, RUDE FOOLS THEY ARE.. Behave yourselves and wash your mouths out with soap when you get home. Young McKay's father has reared his son correctly even if HIS  mother did not teach him how to set an example for his son.    McKay....keep your principles.  You will become something good with your efforts.  Know there are lots of us behind you.

03/14 Dr. Phil Now: Fly Girls

Quote From: poodie

I'm very disappointed in you Dr. Phil. I've watched your show for years every day. The last few days have been very disturbing. You always talk about the wellfare of the younger generation. Not only did you let this young woman back on the show after she said she wouldn't do another talk show, you also allowed the indecent pictures of her prancing around in her underwear when the credits roled. I don't beleive she has any respect for herself.  Everytime she has been on TV, she can't seem to cover herself up. As for those other girls, I'm sure the other passengers are correct about their loudness and disrespect for others. I've seen it many times flying up and down the east coast. All these girls, can't call them women, want is money.  First is, I want an apology....well wait I've talked to a lawyer.   How does Robin feel about this situation?
If I were her, I'd have a few words with Dr Phil for calling Kyla a "bombshell." And, some of the questionable remarks he's made about other women, such as the Deal or No Deal gals, who have been on recent shows. I'll bet Kyla just ate his "bombshell" comment right up. She seems to live for that sort of attention .Watch out, Dr Phil. You might be eating in the dog-house.
