Are you stuck in an emotional, marital or financial rut? Dr. Phil has advice for reshaping your future, and he’s bringing reinforcements! Joining him is Bishop T.D. Jakes, pastor of one of the fastest-growing mega-churches in the country and author of Reposition Yourself. First up, Dr. Phil and Bishop Jakes tackle a shocking story that made headlines. Tongues wagged when New York Governor Eliot Spitzer resigned over a sex scandal. Should his wife, Silda, have stood by his side? Robin weighs in with a woman’s perspective. And, Rachelle says her husband, Rob, was unjustly fired from his job as a police officer more than eight years ago, and the incident was highly publicized. Rob says his life was turned upside down and admits he hasn't been much of a father or husband since the firing. His four children say they want their "vacation dad" to be their full-time dad. What's really at the root of Rob's pain, and what will it take for him to return to being the man Rachelle married? Share your thoughts, join the discussion.

Find out what happened on the show.

Our business

Quote From: gsplover2

Unless Gov. Spitzer took state money , it becomes  no ones business, but THEIRS, as to what they want to do about their marriage.  For GOD'S sake leave this unfortunate woman alone.  Everyone should butt out because their marriage is a contract between those 2 people and no one else.
I hate to disagree with you Bishop T.D.Jakes, but when Gov. Spitzer took office in the United States of America that made it our business.  I think he owes the American people a full explanation of all his wrong doings.  I think there is more to this story then meets the eye.  I totally stand by everything Robin had to say.  Much of the world feels very sorry for Mrs. Spitzer and her children.  No one deserves to be slapped in the face the way she was.  I think she needs to get out of that relationship and start over with her children.  That sex pot does not deserve a wonderful family.  Let him go back to the life he apparently finds so attractive.  Sorry Bishop you really are wrong in your thinking.

Feelings

Quote From: cndrlla

Please try to regain your faith and find a church in which you can feel comfortable.

God didn't do this to you...your husband did! Remember, we all have free will. Your husband was driven by the enemy...don't let the enemy take away your faith...if you do, he wins.

I don't know if you understand that I had put my WHOLE life into God and church because i knew that it was the  only thing that could  "fix" my marriage, I truley believed it wholeheartedly!!!! I also feel that when this happened that all the things i knew to be true were wrong and I went through a time of thinking "I must be crazy" it must be me, eventually I believed the he (my ex) had "stolen" God, my trust, all the things that i truley beieved and knew to be true.  his lies and deciet, and then his total disregaurd for me in the end.Like I said I have been in recovery with a good councelor and believe that eventually I will feel safe again.
thanks for your imput.

I have nothing against Bishop T.D. Jakes, but confused why Dr. Phil has him on the show so often lately.  I would of much rather heard more of Dr. Phil's views on this topic not the Bishop's - That's why I watch the Dr. Phil Show - anyone agree??

I totally agree.  I also would have loved to hear more from Dr. Phil and his whole concept on this story.

a Letter to Police Dad

Boy i just want you to know that it is so sad that you feel like you've done anything wrong. You did what you had to do and no one would fault you for that, and anyone that would judge you isn't out there risking their lives for us everyday.

you got a raw deal, but guess what, there are always blessings in disguise. i was laid off once and was devestated, only to find a job i liked ten times better and made three times the money at!!! Had that never happened to me i would have probably have been stuck at that same job, miserable and making less money. When it happens you feel like the bottom has dropped out, but you have a wonderful wife and children to catch you. Please trust in them and start standing up and being proud for what you did. I agree with Dr. Phil, i would be the first person standing up at any party PROUDLY telling my story about how i once stopped a criminal/dui (i'm not sure what one it was) but point was, if he was willing to run an officer of the law over with his car, what chance did any of us stand with him in the world and dui's he could have killed not only you but a family of 6. YOU DID WHAT YOU HAD TO DO & THE RIGHT THING, DONT EVER FORGET THAT!

That police dept should be ashamed of themselves for letting you go, but be thankful, after this head hunter gets done with you, and finds you a phenomenal job, you'll look back and realize you werent only great at one thing in your life. The really bright side is even though im sure you were a great cop, it is a very dangerous job and your wife and 4 kids can breathe a bit easier knowing you'll be coming home at night.

Start smiling........Life is way too short and your too great of a family.....i wish you all the best of luck!! Cudo's to your wife for standing by your side throughout all of this...she must love you sooooo much.

You can't be serious!

Quote From: songbird53

I think Rob is guilt-ridden.  He killed someone who tried to drive off- how about shooting out the tires?  No one pulled a gun on him, etc.  Whatever happened, he was not prosecuted.  He lost his job.  Not his life!  Rob- GET OVER IT!!  What a shame the way he has made his children and wife pay with his self-pity.

Dr. Phil- I wish you would have kicked this guy's behind!

Are you nuts...? No, he killed someone who had no regard for human life, respect or decency......let me run my car at you and in the blink of an eye make a life altering decision in SECONDS! Shoot at tires, i don't know but i'm guesssing 99.9 % of us reacting to life or death wouldn't be thinking about TIRES. I would have shot that bastard 1000 times over and then again.

Until your in that EXACT position you couldnt say what you would do.........i don't know if i would have had the presence of mind to stand there frozen or shoot him...i would hope i would have shot him, i can tell you what i wouldn't have done though...........um, screw the tires, that wouldn't have even been a thought on my radar.

YEA FOR ROB and if your a criminal out there you know the risks that your putting your own life to be taken.

Guilt ridden...ha, i don't think iv'e ever heard a more moronic statement, he's feeling LOST, not guilty, theres nothing to feel guilty about......men especially define themselves by what they do, instead of defining themselves by who they are, so being unfairly ripped away from it and especially if you liked the work and were good at it makes you fel like your floating out at sea with no direction to go. Once he and every other man and woman realizes your job is WHAT you do, not WHO you are....people will be more at peace with themselves.

Speaking of what has been made our business, I heard on the CBS Morning Show that several hours after being sworn in, the NEW gov. of New York disclosed that both HE and his WIFE had affairs during a rough spot in thier marriage in '99. HE for 3 years. Who is next in line after the Lt. Gov.-LOL? Seriously, I guess it is different than Spitzer's current situation.

You'd be surprised....I used to listen to her for years. She firmly believes that woman are to blame for men straying.
Welll, I can't buy into that. No matter how a woman treats her husband, or a man his wife, straying is still a choice. But, what you're telling me is no surprise. I've only tried to get her on  the radio once. There was too much interferance from a closer, weaker station with the same call numbers.
I have read  The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands. In which she says that any husband,  treated well, will treat his wife well. Unless, she concedes, he's a jerk. Would love to see Dr Phil debate her, wouldn't you?
You got your hummingbird feeders out, yet? I put one out Sunday. And, another yesterday. But, I've never seen any "hummers" before the second week in April. Doesn't hurt to be prepared, though. Will be going to Savannah Sunday and hand-feeding the pigeons again.

Why is it that a woman isn't responsible for her behavior?

Her standing by this guy is a BAD example. Women aren't so weak minded and frail that the get knocked off balance and they only way they can maintain composure is be braced up by a man.

Seriously....this just gets me. Not all women are feeble minded weaklings.
I've said the same thing in one of my posts. In reply to someone defending Silda Spitzer's standing by her husband. For the "good" of their three daughers. But, what kind of example is this to them?

I agree...well, you know me well enough to know that there are always going to be grey areas IMO, but cheating is NEVER something good to do. Not saying someone wouldn't have a good reason for it, but they should at the very LEAST give their spouse the option of leaving first. Behind-the-back-sneaking-around-lying cheating is always bad. People have a right to know if their spouse is having sex with someone else.

It would be interesting to see them debate...Dr. Phil and Dr. Laura are both very very very conservative from where I stand, but, it's debates like that that become interesting, because of their similar view points they might get into a more nuanced discussion rather than two polar opposites who just scream at each other on a superficial level.

That book of hers disgusted me to my core, but I am sure that doesn't surprise you either! LOL

I haven't put my feeders out yet...we got snow the other day! It melted off a few hours later, but it's still just a bit too chilly to bother. I will be putting them up the first week of April for sure, that is when the first few start to show up here in Utah. I am SO excited! If it stops getting below freezing I might put them up earlier. I have a plan to have them eat out of my hand, or, out of a hand held feeder anyway. I think I can do it! LOL!

Aren't birds amazing?
