(Original Air Date: 04/09/08) “Fat slob!” “Lardo!” “Lazy butt!” Obese people are often the target of ridicule, but can you imagine hearing this type of verbal abuse from your own spouse? Dr. Phil takes on fat abusers, people who intentionally belittle their husband or wife simply for being overweight. Roger says he was very clear when he told his wife, Linda, before they were married that he couldn’t stand fat people. Now 20 years later, Roger says Linda has gained 40 pounds and is about to lose him. He says sex with her is like “rolling around in a bowl of Jell-O” and is considering divorce if she doesn’t shed the pounds. Should Linda take his behavior as a wake-up call and end the marriage? Then, Alisa and Leon have been married for 28 years, but now that he tips the scales at 305 pounds, she calls him “Fat Butt.” She filed for divorce because she says she can’t stand looking at his stinky, flabby body. Their daughter, Amy, also puts Leon down and says he's the reason that she’s full-figured. Don't miss Dr. Phil's surprise for Leon! And, viewers were left speechless by Rick, who called his wife, Karen, a fat whore, fat pig and even the C-word. Has he changed his abusive ways? Join the discussion.

You are a shockingly cold person. You suffer from one eating disorder but you don't allow the possibility that others might suffer from OTHER eating disorders too?

anorexia is not "will power".  It is an eating disorder.

And where do you get off telling people who is allowed to have an opinion! From your posts it sounds as if you have an anger problem in addition to anorexia.

"anorexia is not "will power".  It is an eating disorder."

THANK YOU!!!!!

Bryan?

Its got to be expensive to support a diet that has a person overweight or obese. That is too much money wasted in groceries and fast food. I don't know about other people, but I don't have the money to eat like that.......
All I had done was to respond to this post by pointing out how inexpensive it is to eat after all. The fast food places have huge items for very cheap prices. I also mentioned a very true fact about the size of dinner plates. I never once said that people don't have a choice as to what they eat, I just mentioned a couple of things that have been proven by the medical field.  You're the one who took this off into left field. In the future I will know not to reply to any of your post's if I'm not in the mood for a argument.

good come back!

Lady, I am soooo proud of you and what you did! That is an incredible story and I love the fact that you had finally had enough! As I mentioned before, we women can always lose the weight but men, with their shortcomings, don't really have any choice. The parting shot was perfect and I wish that I could have been there. Way to go!

Another point that I would like to stress here. When a woman, or anyone for that matter is under huge amounts of stress it causes too much "cortisol" to flood the system and helps you to gain weight or prevents you from losing it in the first place. There are so many factors that contribute to weight such as, lack of restorative sleep, stress, hormones, and for women, it's natural that we have more fat cells than men because of our biology to reproduce, and that is just to name a few.

To the men out there with a problem with your life mates weight! The day that you are able to give birth, and actually be "willing" to go through with it? We will look exactly like the trophy wives that you want so badly. Is that a deal? Whatever happened to the unconditional love that you signed on for in the first place? Maybe you think marriage vows should have an extra clause in there concerning any change in our appearance or our health issues.

It's funny, a man can look like Porky Pig and and have a multitude of faults, but somehow that seems to be OK in their book, talk about double standards!

he needed that!  whatever happen to a person looking into a persons heart?  i teach my kids to check a persons heart out, not, just the looks.  i am over weight also. my husband knows how i feel about all this weigh

i gain and he trys to help me, anyway he can. all he says is i'm corcern about your health. i told him i,m going to go get a lap band and he says ok.  i have been, in the pass, made fun of for being fat. anymore, i just blow it off, because fat or thin , were all looking good in God's eyes.

Hello Pokie!

I'm really happy to hear that you have a loving and supportive husband. So few women do! It always blows my mind when people will talk about how "great looking" someone is but because they are such a jerk I just can't see it, I find them "unattractive. Then there are those people who are not classically good looking but will have such a great heart and wonderful personality, that I find them to be extremely attractive. Do you know what I mean?

I too have been blessed with a wonderful and loving husband. He's the type of man who will say to  me, "you don't need makeup, you're beautiful just the way you are". It's little things like that, that really make a difference. I really don't understand how a person can say that they love someone and put them down in the next sentence. I truly believe that true love "is" blind!

I happen to think that my husband is the most handsome, sexy man on this earth. I have no idea if it's true or not because I'm seeing him through my eyes, and that is all that matters.  I've been told that he's handsome, but I look at him through my eyes and I'm the one who knows his heart so I'm obviously a little on the prejudice side where he's concerned.

I was disabled due to Severe Chronic Pain about 7 years ago or so and my husband has not only stayed by my side, but has been my "soft place to fall".  He is incredibly supportive and helps me with everything from housecleaning and grocery shopping, to taking care of me when I'm feeling really bad. And this is after hes put in over a hundred hours in at work every week! Do you realize how many couples divorce because one of them becomes disabled? I couldn't imagine leaving my husband over something like that!

I'm really sorry that you've had to endure insults from ignorant and insufferable people. I really can't begin to understand that!  One of these days something will happen to ALL of us, beauty and thinness don't last forever, and neither does our health. On top of of that we are all going to age, that is just something that can't be stopped! I don't have very many lines on my face for my age but the ones that I do have? I'm proud of them! I'm proud of the fact that I'm not 21 anymore! I have maturity and wisdom that one can only achieve from age. I feel sorry for those who feel the need for plastic surgery to try and stay looking young forever. They obviously are lacking in self confidence.

The Lap Band is the safest form of this type of surgery isn't it? I'm very happy for you and I hope that you heal quickly and have a very happy & healthy future ahead of you.  I agree, fat or thin we all look good in God's eyes but when he looks into some of the uglier hearts out there, he probably won't be so impressed!

May God Bless you and keep you safe,

Jewels

So, you think fat people don't KNOW they look "awful"??? (No 'e' btw)

I don't think you really know what you're talking about. I know of no people like that.

Why do you feel the need to have no sensitivity? How would you feel if someone spoke about anorexic people this way? That they are gross, and they should just learn to eat. Hmm? How would you feel?

I would like to try and clarify this statement.  When you said "I know it looks awful and I'm fixing it!", did you mean that you know that the "anorexia" looks awful and that you're working to put some weight on?

Why are you focusing so much on the LOOKS aspect of anorexia?? What about the HEALTH aspects?  Your post clearly shows  where you are coming from and that pond is quite shallow.

Why worry so much about what OTHER people look like?  Not all people agree with you, not all people have the same priorities as you.

Why are you so vicious about this?
I'm so frustrated with this. I got into restaurants and listen to larger people order huge amounts of food and actually heard one person complain about how much they'd ordered...um so then don't eat it all take some home! I'm just sick of hearing people whine "oh I'm so fat!" then go ahead and order tons of food. If you're that upset about it DO something about it like I am my anorexia!!! DO something!
