Women beware: Men are on the prowl! Some guys win your heart and dupe you for thousands of dollars, while other men learn the slick techniques of pick-up artists so they can get you in the sack! Go inside a classroom where single men are being taught The Mystery Method -- a step-by-step technique on how to meet, attract and date beautiful women. The instructors say this method teaches guys to be more confident. When the students hit the bars, will The Mystery Method help them land a lady? What do the women think of their techniques? Then, meet Ross Jeffries, the self-proclaimed "Father of Seduction." He says he’s taught thousands of men to seduce women through language. Now he fears that he’s created monsters, because many of his followers are seducing woman through deception, and he says that’s exactly what The Mystery Method is all about. A heated debate ensues between Ross and The Mystery Method instructors, Nick and Scott. Is Ross’ technique actually as benign as he claims? And, Victoria says she fell in love for the first time with a guy whom who she thought was the perfect man, until he she says he ended up scamming her out of $100,000. Did Victoria miss the warning signs? How can she pick up the pieces of her broken heart and move on? Talk about the show here.

Find out what happened on the show.

Men or men: Women are women.

Quote From: jeanjohnso

Why can't women or men go to the police dept and request a back ground check on people they are worried about or get a gut feeling things are not quite right. This should be public records.

Men are genetically conditioned to pursue women to foster the advance of the species.,    Women are programmed to receive the advances of men.  It's nothing new.  It's being going on since the beginning of mankind.  It is the natural order.  It makes no difference how man achieves his purpose (except rape , which probably doesnt didn''t hold true in prehistoric times)

Women know exactly what they agree to do.  Dr. Phil's very good looking bleached blondes were never asked if they were on birth control pills.  Wanna make a bet on that.  Sure they were and the yent to bars searching for sex.  The only condition was - if he turns me on..  In the end to it all, all a woman has to say its No"  No matter how smoothe and sexy the come on is.  It is ultimately up to the woman..  It doesn't make any difference whether he has or has not taken "seduction courses."  The woman always and always has had the ultimate control - "NO."

Beyond ignorant!

Quote From: johndg1

Honey, you must  understand that "women of color" are only attractive to "men of color."  Sorry about that girl but its true.  You have to stick to your own kind. Guys, well that's another story .  Hot stuff for some white women.  Sorry about the competition, but its the truth!

Holy crap! Are you from this planet and in this century??

Your post that responded to the woman of color was so beyond ignorant I couldn't even believe it was real.

I happen to be blonde, blue-eyed and Caucasian but I can't help but feel embarrassed for your blind ignorance!

The Truth about Mystery Method and Pick Up

First and foremost, lets get the facts straight.   Mystery, who's name is Erik, was NOT on this show.  The Mystery Method is Eriks stuff, stolen by these Frauds that were on the show.   Eriks company is called Venusian Arts.  (arts of Love).  These guys on the show have been sued by Eriks company, as they Erik has his company stolen out from under him in my opinion and apparently soon the courts opinion. in a case that will soon settle., Eriks book, called,
" the mystery method" written by Chris Odom and Mystery, isthe original work on meeting women.  It followed The Game, written by Neal Strauss, which came out in 2005.

I have met Mystery, Matador, and several other guys in the "pick up" community.  I have taken their seminars, been to their bootcamps . been out with them personally.

In these programs I have spoken to many men, from age 21 to 58, all of whom wanted to learn how to date and meet women.  I can tell you from first hand knowledge, MOST of them just want a girlfriend and or wife, and have not had much luck with meeting women either because they have not dated in years ( recently divorced) or have no idea how to meet and talk to women.

Women go out in groups, 90% of the time.  In my experience, many many women reject a mans approach "automatically".  The average woman has been approached hundreds and some thousands of times...and your 800 and one.  How are you going to be any different.

The truth is that meeting women is intimidating for most guys, especially when they have to approach 3 or 4 women at once to meet one they like, with 3 other women judging the guy, and of course, the woman he is trying to meet, knowing that her 3 friends are judging this guy as well.  PRESSURE.  YOu bet.

Im over 40, was in a relationship for years, now I am back to dating.  Its challenging, with what  I learned from Venusian Arts, much easier and I have had much more success in actually having a normal conversation and getting past all the social veneer that goes on.  Actually, being real.

This has not lead to multiple sexual encounters, but rather, multiple women I have gone out with and seen who is out there and what they are like.

This whole "women beware" sounds great for a tv show, but in real life, I can tell you that many people are very lonely, do not go out, and are afraid of dating, both men and women.   What Mystery and Matador teach is about making a woman comfortable, understanding thier needs and wants, and how to get past the uncomfortableness of approaching, dating, starting a relationship. etc etc.

While the show tells women to watch out, I have met several women who have told me and my friends that they have never been treated better.  All that has gone on here is Mystery is teaching what women want by actual demonstration, survey, asking them ,and trying things out.   And I can tell you, the truth is they want the same thing as men, love, happiness, good sex, trust, companionship, and so on.  And sometimes, ya, they just want to have some good sex.

I've seen some very happy couples as the result of "pick up" with guys who would have never met their girlfriends otherwise, and women who would have never given them the time of day, had they not learned the communication skills, the approach skills, and the arts of love.

So lighten up, because none of us would be here without some form of pick up that lead to our creation.  This is NOT something new.

Disgusted

I have to express this:

I was disgusted by these men who came on the show today to promate their so called how to BLANK a women scene.  I thought  they were shallow and really deep seatedly insecure to feel that they have to program themselves to approach women.  This isnt treating women like they are a person. It's making them subjects!  The rationale I heard from these men was too stupid. Oh, no  we arent doing that.  ya ya ya... What a waist of air space.  In particular the gentleman who claimed he had a handle on his mental sugestion techniques.  Oh, brother!  Creeps are the only ones who function like this in a relationship. It "is" manipulation!!!! and I believe it's a form of control.  I dont know how Dr. Phil managed to sit there and listen to their nonsense.  He's lucky I wasnt on the stage because I would have nailed these gents but good.  Verbally that is, since they think that they are so good at what they do,  no women could "ever" take them for a ride.  ha!

Don't even go there!

First of all I have not read any of the websites from the men who were on today, but some of these techniques might work for married women. LOL!

As for the rest of the single women out there, these men were on the right track, but need a little women guidance. I like the way that Dr. Phil brought in the 3 women they worked their "charm" on... because at first they were okay with it, but as they heard that the main point is to get women into bed, they became disgusted! We are treated like pieces of meat by sooooo many men when we are dating, all they want is to get into our pants and then leave us there distraught and longing for true love once again.

Yes, we think about sex, but it's been proven men think about it WAY more! We want to be romanced not manipulated! There are the "Sex in the City" women out there, who prefer to treat men as they treat us! However, that is not who these men are targeting. As far as I know, that kind of women doesn't need the fancy tricks to get her into bed. She is looking for that man, for that night, and Joe Shmoe with his fancy classes isn't going to be the reason she goes home with him.

As for the rest of the women looking for romance and love and commitment; and yes I have been told I seem to be unapproachable by my husband’s friends and how do you talk to a women like you. I respond with a smile and a "You're so cute! I always liked a guy who could make me laugh!" It's about the approach, but if we find out later that's been altered and a lie we will feel betrayed and wonder if it was EVER the real you? We’ve all seen that chic flick.

I've thought of this idea before while looking at a women’s mag. that says "How to get and keep a man" and it was the same idea as what the men on the show had, only it had training on how to ROMANCE a women NOT manipulate her. Maybe a class or two on tact and how to approach the women you want using YOUR personality, not a made up story and put downs. It needs to be run by men AND WOMEN who are married or in a serious relationship! Then it could be tested on unsuspecting singles, but with the intent they just want her number and ONLY by men who want a real relationship not just a one night stand! (As you can see I don't have all the bugs worked out yet, but it's a good start.)

Wow

Quote From: gwarrior6

These potential gigolo farms are teaching men how NOT to be themselves and do the exact opposite of what they would do in the situation.  It reminded me of those Extreme Makover shows, but slightly perverted, the "overhaul your personality" edition.  And really, at some point, a girl doesn't want bull-sh** mind-rape games, because it's a waste of time and energy.

Even if "pick-up line" university teaches them how to approach women, it doesn't teach them how to approach other people in non-romantic situations, which if they are painfully shy, they'll still have a problem with. And then what?  After they get the girl then how do they know how to conduct that relationship?  Does the girl respect Mr. Wonderful after she realizes he just knew some pick up conversation?  It smacks of corny.

There's a writer from the New York Times, Neil Strauss,  who actually went into this community and came out of it with confidence not only in picking up women, but in all aspects of his life. Whether it be dealing with his landlord, interviewing celebrities and then dealing with over charges on his credit card. I know that this is true, because I'm in the community and I've experienced this hands on. This isn't just learning how to pick up women, it's how to built a lifestyle. If you're constantly pushing your comfort zone in social situations, eventually you won't fear anything.

Is it wrong for the girl to respect Mr. Wonderful, because he was trying to get to know someone as special  as the girl. That he would pull out the 'big guns'. Hey, if it's corny to try to get to know someone special.. I must be bathing in cream corn.

A Unique Perspective?

Maybe I can help bring a unique perspective on this topic. As a woman who once dated one of these types of "dating coaches" (yes, believe it or not, they can have healthy, monagamous relationships!), I got to sit in on countless of my ex-boyfriends "workshops". Maybe I can help to shed some light on a few things:

Most of the guys I saw in the classes didn't want to become super players who could sleep with hundreds of women, they just wanted to be able to get a nice girl that they are attracted to, but for whatever reason were unable to. Many of them had stories of this one girl that they fell madly in love with, but their feelings weren't returned. I guess you could say these guys wanted more choice in their dating lives (many didn't even have any choice at all!). It was actually kinda heartbreaking to see some of these guys. A lot of the other guys that came were guys who were previously married, but felt out of place in the dating scene nowadays. And a lot of the other guys were either shy, slightly nerdy, or some combination of the two. Some of these guys were so shy that they literally couldn't talk to a woman they didn't know. They would jumble their words and have problems speaking. I even saw some guys cry because they had such trouble not being intimidated by a beautiful woman.

Remember high school or college? Imagine the skinny kid with glasses who slouched and looked down at his feet all the time and played videogames with their friends after school. 99% of girls probably never batted an eye toward them (I know I didn't). The problem is, these types of guys would fall head over heels for girls who were holding out for the more charismatic guy, the guy who was a little more socially savvy.

Telling these guys "to be yourself" didn't do them any good, and many of them told me it just made them feel worse. How can you tell a guy that when "himself" is being overlooked by all the women that HE WANTS? These guys would be overlooked by smart, beautiful women and they didn't know what to do about it. Some of the guys just needed some encouragement and some teaching on how to best express their own unique personalities IN AN ATTRACTIVE WAY. My ex would routinely show me e-mails from past students who would express such gratitude and telling him that they finally got a girlfriend that they love and that loves him for him, but she would've never been able to see who he was before he learned how to better interact with women in an attractive way!

And yes, I saw pictures of my ex-bf before he became a "dating coach", and he was the kind of dorky guy that I probably wouldn't have given a chance to (harsh? probably, but true). And yes, he still had some dorky stuff that he does, but those things were endearing to me because I was able to see who he was!  Oh, and my ex told me that the guy Nick on the show has a nerdy side too. I think he said he is like a chess champion and loves board games, or something like that.

P.S. As someone who has met Ross Jeffries...HE REALLY IS THAT CREEPY. None of the other "dating coaches" really like him, and he just seems like a bitter, old man that wants people to take his classes to make money. He teaches a lot of manipulation and hypnosis and is nothing like any of the other guys! VERY CREEPY.

Tell me that you don't know it is very wrong to make a blanket statement about women of color only liking men of color?  No.  That is not the truth.  I am a women of color and my husband is white.  My girlfriends and boyfriends are in relationships with differing people.  In fact, it is very rare to see the same ethnicities together anymore.  By the way.  I have never, not once, been unable to date anyone I wanted to.  No competition for me back in the day, before marriage.

Ross Jeffries is just jealous

I know a lot about the "seduction community" because I was an active member for several years before I settled down and got married.  The second guest, Ross Jeffries, does deserve credit as one of the originators of some of the pickup techniques mentioned on the show.  But please keep in mind that he is in competition with the guests who were advocating the far more popular "Mystery Method".  There are many of these seduction schools, and there is a lot of fighting among them as they compete for students.  Jeffries' extreme ego and decline of his business are the reasons why he spent so much time on the show trying to "warn women" about pick-up artists.  He was just trying to hurt the competition.  Jeffries' techniques can be just as deceptive and insulting to woman as any other.
