If everything was a easy as making excuses....

7 years ago I bought a condo in the historic district of the city I live in. Main Street is 3 blocks long and is part residential, a park, and mostly historic buildings and shops. I love my neighborhood. I can go out a 5 am and  find neighbors walking. Oh, the police station is a block away. Walking is safe. The first committment I made to myself when I moved here is to walk...walk...walk..and I did. Yes that is past tense. I love the antique shop windows, the old guys who are always sitting outside the coffee shop at 5am, and the nice early morning air. I was doing this every morning and as many nights a week as I could. I was feeling great. I live on the 4th floor of my condo complex, so after the walk I started taking the stares just one flight...then 2 and so on. There is absolutely no negatives here. I did it every day, yet all it takes is a little break in the routine to start the excuses. After the first excuse, it gets easier. First a day...then 2. Soon I have missed a week. It has now been more than a year since I last made the walk. As I type this, I think about how silly I feel when I get in the car and drive "downtown", 2 blocks max.

Typing this has reminded me how much I really did enjoy the walks. On my way out the door.

No Excuses Workout Tips…

Quote From: bdjohnson143

OH MY GOSH.  There is no excuse, but I swear, I find one every day.  I just had my second child 3 months ago and I really do want to get back in shape, but somedays my will power is good, somedays, not so good.  I need some good tips on getting motivateD!  Also, is there any way other than surgery to remove excess skin?

BD, my dear!!!   Congratulations on your second child!!!  I imagine you are tired and at times, are at your wits end!!!  Honey, you need to take some time for YOU!!!!  The only way I know to lose that extra skin, which I am assuming is from child bearing...is to exercise and tone.  I know that isn't what you want to hear, but it is so true!!!!!  There is NO magic pill, powder or promise that will make it go away.  What I can promise you is that the older you get, the harder it will be, so procrastination is NOT your friend!!!!

Get it off now.  Everyday, you must push yourself a little harder than the day before.  In the morning do just ONE thing you don't want to do.....do ONE thing in the afternoon you don't want to do, and repeat for the evening....You have to push and show yourself who is in charge!!  Walk a mile with the kids, do a bunch of crunches, walk real fast up and down the stairs of your house.  Be constantly in motion.  Eat right, keep hydrated, meditate and what ever you do, involve your kids early with regard to exercise, nutrition and hydration.  Be a roll model for those babies!!!  Give them more than your mom gave you!!!  She did her best, as did my mom, but times have changed and with new knowledge comes new responsibility.  Lead by example so your kids won't experience the turmoil we are going through.  Be a true LOSER!!!  Lose your fears, your negative thinking and your excuses.

As i sit here and read all the things people are writing, I think why do I do this to myself.I am the only one who can change ME.And I am the ONLY ONE STANDING IN MY WAY.Today was the first time I watched the weight loss show, and I want to make a commentment, not only to myself...but to my kids.Like Patti said, we are the example.I don't want my kids to go through this.It is so hard to "start"being healthy, but if you are raised that way I'm sure it would be alot better.so thanks in advance for the support and kind words.I hpoe I can do the same for some of you.

Honey, Your awakening brings absolute tears to my eyes!!!!  You live in Utopia!!!!  It's there for you and has been for the last 7 years.....it will be there for you for many, many years.  You can ignore it, which appears to have not worked well for you, or you can embrace it, which seems to suit you VERY well.

I believe in you with my heart and soul!!!  Keep getting out there and smell the roses daily!!!  I expect great things from you...I think you get "it".

In my book, you are a true LOSER!!!  You have lost the lackadaisical attitude of yester year.  You now realize that every day matters!!!!  One lost day leads to the next and the next, until, we don't remember  why we made the decision to abandon ourselves.  Thanks for seeing the light!!!

YOU ARE REMARKABLE!!!!!!  The light bulb has gone off in your head and you get "it"  !!!  YOU are a true LOSER!!!!!  You have lost your past visions and are seeing into the future!!!!

YOU ARE RIGHT!!!  The only one who can change you is YOU!!!!  Your worst enemy is YOU!!!!  AND the only one who can get you past this is YOU!!!  YOU have tremendous power to change not only YOUR life, but the lives of your children and there is no greater privilege or responsibility to ensure that happens!!!

I'm telling you this: there is NO GREATER THING YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR CHILDREN, THAN TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR MOTHER!!!!!  ( Dr. Phil gets the credit for that one!!!!)

Baby Steps, love........Baby Steps.......slow and sure and the change will evolve and will be permanent.  Your children will grow up living a healthy life and you will be around for all the grandchildren, great grand children and great-great grand children!!!  and maybe more!!!

I can't tell you what a LOSER you are!!!  Your light bulb has gone off!!!  You get it!!!  So get busy Sister!!!

You can do it too.. I am!

Well I'm overweight and im 23. Im ready to loose 30 pounds, and I've been eating healthy and walking hiking trails every day for the past week and a half. I feel so great just from walking about 2.5 miles, 4 to 5 times a week. The two reasons that I'm doing this is to better myself and my health, and to make my boyfriend to go "Wow" when I get to see him from graduating Boot Camp! I am so proud of him, so I want him to be proud of me also. If your trying to loose weight like I am, congrats!! Keep strong and were all in this fight with you!

Focus on the why!

I'm have gotten to the point where I have realized that I want to do something fantastic with my life. I'm 44 years old and if I dont do it now I will have to live with the regrets of not giving all my effort,  and at this weight who knows how long I would live. Go for it!...I'm greatful for the Dr.Phil show and I give all the credit to Jesus who gives me the strength and passion to focus on my dream for life.
