The slogan "Yes, we can," and the words hope and change are the foundation and spirit of Barack Obama's platform. As the inauguration approaches and the optimism and excitement grows, so too grows the hype. The pressure on the President-elect is so enormous you may be wondering how even a strong man can withstand it. Hear from a range of commentators, from Washington insiders Ari Fleischer and Arianna Huffington to members of the millennium generation, and learn what they have to say about the campaign, the challenges Obama faces and the qualities he possesses that will help him succeed. And, what can this new first family expect as they move into a life that will certainly play out under the microscope? Then, see shocking photos showing how a couple terms in the White House may have aged previous presidents. Is Obama at risk of maturing twice as fast while commander-in-chief? Dr. Travis Stork, co-host of the hit series The Doctors, illustrates the toll stress can take on a president. Plus, a trend-spotter shares the biggest trends Americans can expect when a new period in history begins!  Join the discussion.

Double standard

Quote From: emsantes21

No! Thats was just an example of how stupid people can be I'm making my judgement based on the fact they voted for him and he has ZERO experience! Read all of my post not just pieces!

How much political 'experience' did Bush have before running for President?

**Governor of Texas from 1995 to 2000 (of which 2 of those years running for President)

****5 years

How much political 'experience' did Obama have before running for President?

**US Senator from January 3, 2005 – November 16, 2008 (of which 2 of those years running for President

**State Senator from January 8, 1997 – November 4, 2004

****10 years

So why the constant double standards?

Move on and lets see how well he performs to the unprecedented challenges that he and the rest of us face with the financial crisis, housing, education, jobs, the wars.

Real Original

I don't often watch this show but flipping around trying to escape the alphabet networks Obama can do no wrong reporting I came across the show and thought I would get at least something unbias. Ether Oprah is putting the whip to you or your just another blind follower of Obama it doesn't matter.  I do agree with one thing said on the show young people seem to be involved as never before.  It's just a shame that with all the revisionist history they have been reading they can not recognize  a socialist when it's right in front of them.  I do not disagree like so many that he was not rightly elected.  It's just a sad time for our country that we would fill our House, Senate and now Presidency with people with so much hate for this country and destine for the people. Now nothing stands in the way of the Politarit.  It's not what they say its how they have voted and the policies they make.  I will pray for this country to come back to it's senses.  But if Obama succeeds our great country will fall so I cannot pray for his success.

01/19 Pressures of the Presidency

Quote From: multiracialmom

First of all, Bush has not right to make any remarks on how Obama is leading this country. He has placed us all in financial burden, losing homes, and not to mention not responding quickly to Hurricane Katrina victims. I don't wish his last 8 years on anyone. But he is so far out of touch with this country and has been since 2001. We need to be fair with Barack. Yes he gets an abundence of media coverage, but what can I say he is popular. He has placed himself in todays world. He is up on the new technolgies, the music and the slang. He makes people feel like he is just an ordinary guy. Bush has never done that. He is so high on that horse of his that he never knew what it is like to be a hard working citizen of the U.S. I am a single, multiracial mother of a 5 yr old boy. I work my behind of just to provide for us. Bush knows nothing of a struggle.

This inaguration is a big deal for the african american culture. And it sickens me that people make comments about how he isn't black and they can't understand the hype. Well understand that African Americans have come along way. From Slavery, to segregation. My grandmother is bi-racial. And growing up she was considered black. On her birth certificate she is black. Myself the same. If you look at Baracks birth records....I bet u he is also considered BLACK! It is decusting that people can see others get ahead. You always have to make some excuse. Our 44th president is Black. GET OVER IT!!!!

I am white and Australian, (if that is important at all)  I,  like many people right across the globe are relieved and very happy that Obama will be president!  For those who say that he has no 'experience', what exactly have the 'experienced one's' done to your country and to most of the world, nothing but misery. Bush will be remembered by the turmoil, wars, living out his power without  ever understanding the needs of his own country,  he did not try to resolve issues that needed his attention but focused on being an iron fist, many young sons, daughters, fathers and mothers paid heavily for his decisions.  The economy is a disaster which has rippled into every corner of the world,   Bush wanted to be god yet could not put a coherent sentence together without it making headlines all over the world, what a joke, he has not left one positive legacy for which his country should be proud

Obama might not have 'experience'  but at least he is educated, articulate and is a first real hope for peace on this planet. For the people that are complaining they don't 'know his policy',   have to realise that he is inheriting years of mess which others that are 'experienced' have left to him and the people,  just the fact that he has given so many of us hope is a good start.  His policy is and should be known as  hope..  there is no quick-fix strategy that will happen over night to remedy the vast  and endless problems that have been left for him.

Wishing Obama all the best, and as for the party I hope it rocks!

This inaguration is important for everyone,

I know that I won't change your mind, but Obama loves this country as much as any patriot.  Why else would he want to be president?

01/19 Pressures of the Presidency

Quote From: ace9911

I think it's great that we have a black president for the first time, I wish there were more before him, and hope that there are many after him.   Having said that, I do disagree with a lot of his values, and it's too bad he doesn't have the values of the great man who, really, opened the door for this to be possible--MLKjr.

Sadly, I think a lot of african americans voted for him simpley because he was black; i'm not saying everyone, so don't get me wrong.  Anyhow...even though I don't agree with many of his values, I hope he does great and I wish him the best.

Why would you think that Barack Obama doesn't have the same values as Martin Luther King, Jr.?  He wants America to achieve all that our founding fathers hoped for us - life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all Americans.  This means that he will fix our economy,  create jobs for all Americans,  protect our security, and develop a safety net for Americans who are less fortunate.  He will ask us to support him in that, and I, for one, will do all I can.

The truth about Oboma and how I feel as a citazen

As a US citazen that wen t to war to protect the rights for this nation.  this last election is unexecptable for a number of reasons.  One is the fact of his birth cert. has not be provided but in place of that is a live birth cert, which i will point out the missing  keys to it.  one being the cert number, then the fathers name, then the foot print, then the doctors name, then the state seal.  i think it is funny when other people such as the governor of Haiwii placed Obomas' birth cert.  in sealed files and no one i mean no one can get a copy of it.  the next issue i want to address is the 2nd ammenment, and the fact the Oboma wants to band all guns and ammuncation for hunting.  for one Oboma can pull my guns from my cold dead hands.  our four fathers set forth all this rights for this nation but no one remmebers that,  all they care about is the money and the power of the postion. the issues that the nation is have is a simple fix if this lobbiest, or what have you pull the head out of their but and have a complete full four contact to the ground. in my opion with some of these issues are as followed,  one please please stop the nation treasurery dept. from pumping more and more money into the market and do not allow Oboma to spend the propused bailout money into the market. i feel let the market bounce of itself.  the more money that the government puts into the market  the vulue of the dollor is going down.  the issue of the national debt for this nation is stupid, because every lobbiest or what have you wants to be the worlds police and i say stop for the simple reason . we as a nation can not even cleanup our own mess but we are expect to be at their beck and call.  i can go on and on with all the issues that this nation has and how Oboma wants to do with them but i am not going to in this message.  i will say this any man with the name hussane needs to shut on sight no question asked.  we really need to go back to what our four fathers set in place for us as a nation.  please feel free to email me or call me for anything that is on your mind.

How was Obama not "rightly" elected?

Well, I guess I should explain that.  What I meant when I said that was, for one, MLKjr. was a strong Christian man, and his values/actions reflected that.  Now, i'm not sure if Obama is a Christian or not, I'm just basing that on his stands on such issues as abortion, gay marriage, etc.  How can he call himself one, when he goes against what he claims he believes.  As far as what you said I agree.  Don't get me wrong, I'll def. support him in that.

Grandparents

On this show  The women who made the statement, that parents were trying to fine daycare for their children and the grandparents were playing Bingo need to take care of the grandchildren.  I want to know where she gets her information.  The ones I know who play Bingo are in Nursing Home and are in bad health or they would not be there.  Most Grandparents I know are still working because the are only in their 40/50.   The Great Grandparents are helping out when they are need.  Grandmothers are going to the children's home and cleaning up the house, as well as, picking up the children from school.   She owns the Grandparents of this nation  an apology.  We, also, got grandparents raising grandchildren,  Because the parents of the grandchildren are in Prison.
