Obama – The Savior or False Hope?
One important aspect of being a patriot is to be an informed citizen and understand what you are voting for. Before blindly following the popular opinion of the “crowd”, please consider the following common sense thoughts with an open mind.
1) Costly multi-billion dollar stimulus packages and bailouts have not worked. Why should one believe the answer to the current economic problems is to do the same thing only on a larger scale?
2) The financial problems in the US were caused by too much debt and spending. Shouldn't the solution be less spending and more savings? Obama’s solution to current problems is more debt, also called “stimulus”, to create more spending. Is this logical? Does one drink more booze to sober up?
3) There is no such thing as a free lunch. All booms are followed by busts as individuals, corporations and governments living beyond their means must save and pay down debt. Delaying the bust only creates a larger bust down the road. Fighting the free market caused the current crisis and like swimming up-stream, fighting the correction with stimulus (debt) will draw out, prolong and worsen the crisis.
4) You can’t have something for nothing. The answer to prosperity is freedom, small government, hard work, and savings. Larger government, deficit spending, and ever increasing social programs are not sustainable. Isn’t this logical?
5) Sticking To Principles When times are tough it is more important than ever to stick to fundamental principles. The free market allows companies poorly managed to fail and successful companies to survive. A government deciding what company should receive bailouts and what company should fail is centralized planning and socialism. Bailing out banks privatized the profits and socialized the losses which rewards bad behavior and punishes good behavior. Are these logical solutions to vote for?
6) Homes that are too expensive for the average person to afford are a problem. Lower home prices, so that responsible borrowers can afford to buy them, is the solution. The government is fighting the free market when it attempts to bail out irresponsible banks and home owners. These socialist principles will draw out natural corrections and prolong the current crisis.
7) Debt and spending caused the current US crisis and the proposed solution is more debt and more spending. Debt and spending such as credit cards and buying “things” is what causes individuals to become poor. Hard work and savings is what makes a person wealthy. For nations it is no different. Debt and spending caused the US to become poorer. Perhaps the US does not need new stimulus (debt) but instead it needs less spending, less government, more savings and more production. This is common sense.
8) Banks have not used and will not use “bail out money” for lending to the public. Why? The American public is tapped out with too much debt which makes them high risk customers. How does this affect you today and in the future? Today it decreases the value of your money as more currency to bail out the banks causes each unit of currency to lose real purchasing power. In the future it saddles the future with a debt that must be repaid. Not to mention the fact that the damage has already been done and fighting the free market will prolong the correction that will happen regardless.
What is the solution to the current financial crisis? Do not let the government interfere with the correction and let the nation take the medicine. Let the free market chose where capital should be allocated. The nation is already sick and the pain cannot be stopped. All solutions will be painful but letting the nation heal itself will be much faster and in the long term much less painful than swimming up-stream. Obama plans to dig the hole deeper with more government, more centralized planning, more bailouts, more debt, less individual freedoms and more socialism etc. The key is less government, less social programs, more production, more savings, less spending and less borrowing. Isn’t this logical?
Is Obama a well intentioned honest person? Probably. Is he misguided and destined to hurt the nation he is trying to help? Probably.
Be careful what you wish for because you are likely to get it. America may not only be voting in, but cheering in their own demise. This is not their intention but the result will likely be the same.
