Damn right the system is failing to protect us! There are too few judges like Jeanine Pirro and too many  attorneys like Neil Shouse. Most judges are pantywaists who are so easily influenced by the defend-the-devil-if-there's-enough-money-in-it  "DUI defense" attorneys that the deal too leniently with drunk drivers. Do we need tougher laws? If we got them, they wouldn't mean spit unless they're enforced. I think enforcement is the weakest link. The current laws would probably be tough enough if they were actually enforced.

What a joke! The driver has to blow into a breathalizer to start her car. Too much alcohol on her breath makes it impossible to start the car. But anyone snber enougg can do the blowing and start the car for her. Dawn might be doing this. Or borrowing cars!

Yeah, I've seen people on tv go as far as to get their "little" kids to blow in the breathalizer to start the car and the saddest part is, they think they're they're smart.  It sickens me because they get their kids to blow in it, then they take off with the kids in the car more often than not.  Law "enforcement" thinks they really invented something and law breaker ALWAYS out smart them. I wish the ones in my county were really there to "protect and serve" but they're only in that line of work for power and a paycheck. Drugs are running rampant in my town but the cops consider it "job security."  It's pretty twisted.  I guess that's what happens when one lives in an un-incorporated area.

I would just like to ask Dawn and others like her what gives them the right to drive while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and put INNOCENT families at risk?  It infuriates me!  If they want to drink and die of cirrhosis of the liver that's their business, but when they get behind the wheel of a vehicle, they aren't just taking their life in their hands; they're also jeopardizing everyone else who is unknowingly passing them on the road.  You know what infuriates me the most?  The fact that they're given not one, not two, but THREE chances to kill an innocent person and the only punishment is a revoked license and a brethalizer installed in their car and MAYBE JAIL if they repeat offend enough times.  Like the consequences are going to keep them from repeating the offense. 

 

 

My question exactly. If you happen to be following (what you think) is a drunk driver and you report it, the law-enforcement dispatcher wants to question you like you're the one breaking the law. What's the point of having laws if they're not going to enforce them, correctly?  We might as well be living under Anarchy, which by the way, I DO NOT want and neither do you, I'm sure!

Shouse is full of it! If drunk driving were overzealously prosecuted there would be far fewer killed by these idiots. Only a scumbag of the worst order could represent these repeat offenders. Shouse is a cancer on the legal profession.

Are there any speed traps. While in the national guard my husband got caught in ond. And the woman who caught him ducked behind her squad car. Thought the camera around his neck was an uzi! He beat the ticket with that camera. Shot pictures of her letting locals get by with speeding. He put that speed trap out of business!

I was sickened listening to Dawn and I do not know how those two women sat next to her.  Hopefully, Dawn will watch herself on the show and realize she sounded like an idiot. What really scares me is that Dawn is not alone, there are many people like her that believe their actions do not have consequences and they can do whatever they want.  What is her wake up call going to be?  Fortunately, she has not hurt anyone, yet.

I can't believe the hatred and viciousness in people's voices when they are talking about people who have a DUI. In 2006 I made a mistake that I will never forget about, and I will never repeat again.  I thought I was being responsible by waiting 4 hours after drinking one drink to drive.  When  I took the breathalizer I was positive that I would be under the limit becasue of how long I waited to drive.  I wasn't a heavy drinker before my DUI, and I don't drink but once in a while now.  I really took offense to the disgust that was in these women's voices.  I am one of those people who is not a repeat offender.  Doctor say alcoholism is a disease, well lets work together as a community to help these people to change, rather than talk as if they are scum of the earth.  I know that loved ones have been lost to drunk drivers and they are angry, but the way to handle this topic is through love, hard work, and support, not attacking these people and put them on defense.  Trust me, when people are defensive, they get hard headed and don't listen to anything you have to say to them.  I don't agree with what people on this board are saying about punishment needing to be harsher for first time offenders.  I can say through experience, 3 years of not driving because I can't afford $400 a month for regular insurance, and $7,000 later that if I had to spend time in jail, I would be in even more debt and hardship than I am in already.  Since my DUI I haven't able to get a job that would pay well, and in the state that I live in you have to put a DUI on an employment application as a felony.  I think that what I have been through in the past three years has been punishment enough.  If I didn't have people in my life who loved and supported me through this, I don't know where I would be.  I do agree that repeat offenders need to be held accountable though, people make mistakes, we shouldn't judge them until we see them make the mistake knowinglly again.
