As economic times grow increasingly frightening, many Americans are asking, "Will I find a job? Can I support my family? Will my savings survive?" Dr. Phil is joined by Bishop T.D. Jakes, best-selling author and leader of one of the fastest-growing mega-churches in the U.S., to answer your questions and share strategies for staying motivated during this time of uncertainty. First up, Susan says her 19-year-old daughter, Emily, is living in a fantasyland and refuses to grow up and get a job. Emily says she's not lazy, just laidback. Will Emily hear the wake-up call like her mother  hopes? Next, meet Lisa, a wife, mom and self-proclaimed domestic dictator who says it's her way or no way. Find out how she reacts when she receives a surprise visit from the Bishop. Lisa's husband sits down one on one with the pastor. How does Lisa respond when she observes their conversation? And, their find out what Lisa's teen daughters have to say about her. Then, Jennifer says she has to wear the pants in the family. Her fiancé, James, says her constant pushing makes him feel like less of a man, and their engagement is on the rocks as a result. Can Dr. Phil and the Bishop help keep their relationship afloat? Talk about the show here.

Find out what happened on the show.

07/08 Ask the Bishop

oh my oh my, watching this show makes me feel like a saint and I know I can always make improvements when it comes to my life/relationships. Those women need to get a grip and grow up and act like women. If I had to live with that, I would be running for the hills.

What bugs me about the second couple is that, like far too many others, they've put the cart before the horse, way before the horse, having a child before getting married, way before getting married. This child is already almost a toddler, and they have yet to get married. And, there might not even be a wedding, thanks to the woman's threatening to break of the engagement if the man doesn't get a second job. In this economy, she should be thankful he even has one job. And, that she has one. Besides, if he were to get a second job, she'd probably piss and moan about him being gone so much. Anyway, with finances so tight, she thinks he needs a second job to make ends meet, why did they have a child? Providing a child's most basic needs from birth to 18 is an expense that should be carefully considered before becoming pregnant.

typical woman

I am sorry to say that there are a lot of women out there like these two gold diggers on the show. Check out any online dating site and you will see all of them, must be financially independent, professional, look like Brad Pitt, make me laugh, stimulate my mind,  blah blah blah blah,  too many people looking for wifm.

What happened to character, integrity, honesty, romance, passion, friendship, standing by the person you suppposidly love and building them up instead of tearing them down?

It's all over the television waves, anger, critisism, violence, whatever. God help us.

John.

I have to agree it is as if society has lost its mind in the maze of materialism !

u ask what happened to character integrity honesty and romance ?

well it is MIA in these times and not in one place but seemingly all over the world

these waves as u call it ,will increase in intensity and worsen with each passing warning sign the sleeping world ignores !

I have been doing some in depth autopsy work study into religion and this is also very prevailant in Internet Christianity !

would love it if Bishop could do a show on that per chance in the future !

Ive noted that  this thing your calling tearing down is a growing syndrome epedemic that is hitting really hard dont believe it go check out the behavior on some of the oldest but most popular messianic /christian based boards like zola board see it for your self !

as shocking as it is , this business with legalism in religion has caused people to become so judgmental there no earthly good !

and that will in my opinion prove to be the one thing that encourages America to accept socialism and it is the critical point for this failing Nation !

we are already in society living under practical bludgeoned to death documents when it comes to the constitution !

when those documents were created it was for the people ,and it was predominant for a Christian people building a Christian nation ,well those days are comeing to a close and time as we know it will change in ways we can not imagine

I believe God mercifully veils the future of it all from us !

but for the ones who see !  Now is the time to begin your hardest task at hand !

Just some of the reasons I tend to gravitate away from popular opinion  when it comes to true information

were a nation on life suport and fading fast folks !

time does not stand still and wait on Nobody  !

I have a VIP QUESTION I WOULD LOVE TO ASK BISHOP

Amen to that  !  I was tickeled to death some one said it !
Bravo  we need more people like you !

LOL!  It is not the truth they want to hear oftentimes but it is the truth they need to hear

( priceless)  the truth always cares enough to speak whats hardest to hear but listening ears will always cherish that faith comes by it ,and we need to know it !  GOOD POST !

Women who control, the men who have already left

The woman on the show who was referred to as the Queen needs a grand wake-up call.

When a man is being ordered around in the way her husband was, she needs to seriously evaluate what he might be doing and thinking. He has already left the room by tuning her out, he may well have left the relationship (and possibly sought some one less controlling elsewhere) and she may think she is still in control.

I am a passive male very similar to that husband. I am willing to speak the thoughts that have travelled through my mind. I am also willing to take responsbility for my thoughts and actions. Is the wife willing to step up to reality or is denial her way of coping?

Fear is at the bottom of that control .... try admitting the fear instead of smashing the ego of another into paste.

Let's get real about how much control we really have over another and how much control we need within ourselves.

SOUNDS LIKE ME!!!

Those two woman that live there life like "it's my way or the highway" sounds like me.  I live with my Mom and I'm the one that is always in charge.  My mom is always the quiet one she always have.  I'm not as bad as these ladies but bad enough.  Thanks for having that subject on there Dr. Phil!!!
