I used to live in Michigan also

Quote From: heather175

I used to live in Michigan. I now live in Florida. I really miss home but I really enjoy the weather down here.

I was born in Ann Arbor & raised just north of there. I've on ly lived in FL since 9/01.

Hello, I used to live in Michigan also, I used to go to Ann Arbor all the time, it's a great city full of character and activites.  Have you ever gone to the art festivals?  They are very good.  And I loved the Hands on Art Museum.  I remember going there for a school field trip.  And the Botanical Garden( I can't remember the name) is absolutley beautiful.  I loved walking down town by the college and checking out all of the stores.  I lived about 40 minutes away from there down southeast Michigan.  I'm not sure if you have ever been to other towns, but I do remember one Botanical garden.  Hidden Lake Gardens, it's in Tipton and is amazing also, that is where I got married.  It's up in Irish Hills area.  I now live in Idaho and for awhile I did miss home a whole bunch, now I am doing good, too bad we may have to move again.  Last I heard, Michigan wasn't doing too great in the job department.  A lot of factories being laid off so I guess I'm lucky being where I am today with the job market booming.  It has to be very different living in Florida when you never get snow.  I don't think I would be able to adjust to that, I like the snow too much.  It was nice to hear from someone who used to live in Michigan, brings back memories.

Hi Elfie....

I used to go to the Art Fair with my Dad a lot as a kid. It was fun. Ann Arbor is known as the "mixing pot". I loved the museum too. My Aunt has worked for the U of M for over 20 years and the building she works in is right next door to the museum. So we went there a lot. I went on a field trip in school in like 4th grade to botanical gardens.

I know where Irish Hills is. We used to go camping there every summer. Plus my aunt had friends that lived out there that had horses. One summer went o some park place or whatever there & I walked into a big dinosaur statue & it left a huge goose egg right on my forehead. LOL! I got teased so much.

I actually grew up in Whitmore Lake (North of Ann Arbor). I lived there most of my life. But before I moved to Florida I lived in Oxford. I loved there. I really miss it. My Dad still lives in Hamburg & so do all his bothers & sisters. My Mom & sister & brother all live down here in Florida though. Well thank you for repling. It was so awsome to hear from someone who can relate to be a little home sick. Please keep in touch!

Was that dinasour at the Irish Hills Fun Park?  Maybe............. I can't remember.  I remember going up there to Stagecoach stop for there haunted trail ride.  It was so cool.  You go down the dark path and scary people would come up to your cars and try to get you.  One year, my husband and I took my sister and some of her friends up there in our truck, they all sat in the back, which was so cool because the people were able to get at them real easy.  One guy actually got in back with them!  Since then they put regulations on people so they couldn't grab people or do that anymore.  Too bad, because it was fun!   I know where Whitmore lake is, never been there, but I have heard of it.  Actually, I think my school used to compete with them for sports.   I used to live in Tecumseh which is south of Ann Arbor.  I lived there until the 6th grade and then moved to Adrian, which is about 15-20 minutes away from Tecumseh, but went to Madison school.  I moved here to Idaho and then my parents moved out last May.  I'm going back this October because my sister is getting married at Herritage Park in Adrian.  I went out last September and the town is just crazy now.  There are hardly any jobs and it is so rushed over there.  I'm not used to that anymore, since I live in the little city now  LOL.  Anyway, thanks for replying, it is nice to hear from someone that used to live in Michigan also.

I can't remember the name of the park. It's been so long ago. I know where Techumseh is. We did used to play football against them. I remember once going to a game in Techumseh that my brother was in ( he played football in H.S.) and my step-dad being a little freaked out because he had just seen children of the corn and there were so many corn fields there.

That's funny.... I may be going there in October myself for a wedding. A really good friend of mine is getting married in October. I think it's the 1st week in October. I hope I can make it. I haven't been there in so long.

I've been in FL since Sept. 01'. It's soooo busy here. I moved to the "country" here and now it's being built up like crazy. I', not paticularly fond of FL but I really don't want to deal with snow. So I suppose I will have to deal with one or the other or move. LOL !

Nice talking to you.

I need help!! I am a single mother of 3, my divorce should be final in May. I would like to make some new friends. I feel like I am all alone , and I am scared. It would be nice to be able to talk to some-one. I have decided to go back to school full-time, to become a Medical Biller. I didnt have a back up plan, when ex hubby left. It would be very nice to be able to go out and talk to some new friends about different things that are going on. Of course I am a good listener. I am living in Saginaw. Sorry to sound so pethectic and lonely,  but I am lonley and scared. Have a good day
You are not pathetic.  Divorce its not usually a happy thing or something joyful.  Let yourself feel sad so you can get past it for you and your kids.  I am a stay home mother of 2 and a step mother of 4 and a grandmother of 2 and I am only 30 years old.  Life has a way of catching up to us.  I too live in Saginaw Michigan.  I actually live in Thomas Township.  I am an ear to bend and a good friend.  Being a mother is the toughest job on the planet.  Give yourself permission to feel exhausted.  Your job is tough.  If you need an ear to bend I have two of them!

Hello,

Up until a year ago, I have lived in Michigan my entire life. Not as far north as you, but close. I am from Detroit area. Okay, well, I was not THAT close, but I now live in Tennessee.

Is there life after divorce? Hmmm.....for a long time, I didn't think there was. (Turns out that my now X-husband was just saying that to try and scare me!) And it worked for a long time. 9 years to be exact. And finally, after I said enough was enough! I divorced his sorry butt! Well, what does one do after a divorce? Well, it is different for many people. For me, it meant going back to school to become a Nurse! Even if others didn't agree. My mother freaked out! "You need to get a job working in a factory, and take care of those 2 kids! You had your whole life to go to school, and you didn't, now it is too late! Go get a factory job and support those kids the right way!" It wasn't easy following my heart and sticking to my guns (or in my case my bible), but the thing I said was "Try, or fail trying!"  What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger! That is my 2 second advice on divorce. Here is my 3 second advice on friendship.....

Try this web site. I don't know if I am allowed to post it, so forgive me, but you said you want to make friends, well, here is a good place to start. It is called christiansinglesdating.com

Now, now, before you say anything, yes, it is a dating site, and yes, it is where I met my 2nd husband, and what was the cause for me to move to Tennessee (it is actually a really touching, romantic, and unbelievable story if you like to hear it) but it is not only a dating site, but also, there are a lot of woman which I have become pen pals through. Woman who have done, and gone through what I have. Where I thought "I must be nuts! This can't be normal!!!" When actually it was. So, if you would like to talk, or what else, that would be great. I hope what I said makes a small difference. Take care, and good luck on the medical billing. Two words on that. cha-ching!!! Good luck on the medical billing. I hope you do great!

Hi there! I am a single mom in Alpena. I have never been married, but I do know how hard it is to raise a child alone. I do have a very supportive dad and daycare provider. I also went to school and plan to graduate in May 2006 as a Medical Information Specialist. Don't say you're pathetic sounding. We all have our own sad stories. I am lonely and sometimes scared, too. If you want to talk, please e-mail me. My address is in my profile. Take care of yourself!

Hi, I live in Gaylord.  Im a mother of 2 boys and I am looking for someone in the area that might have children and would like to have play dates.  This is probably going to be hard seeing as there have only been 2 people that have posted here but if anyone would like to just chat that would be great too.  I think that Michigan can be a lonely state in the winter with all the snow and a lot of people just stay indoors(like me) because it is just too darn cold out there.  I do take the kids out on slightly warmer days.  Its funny how when your a child the cold never seems to bother you becaus eyou are having so much fun but when you get older you feel the cold as soon as that door is cracked.
Hi there! I am a single mom in Alpena. Not really close enough for playdates, but willing to chat if you want. I agree about Michigan and the winters here. I am so sick of snow! My e-mail address is in my profile, if you want to talk! Take care!
