After years of suffering in silence, a family turns to Dr. Phil for help on a forbidden topic. Their silence stems from years of incest that took place between all five siblings. Becky, the oldest sister, is terrified those years of molestation and pain could cause her younger brother, Kenny, to die on the streets as a homeless drug addict. Find out what happens when Kenny faces his brothers and sisters as they confront their incestuous past. Plus, Alexis wants help with a heart-breaking secret. Her father got her pregnant eight times, beginning when she was just 15. Her children don't know that their grandfather is also their dad. Should Alexis tell them? Talk about the show here.

Find out what happened on the show.

We Need To Make These Officals Take Responsibility

Growing up in the Mormon Church It became clear that incest & sexual abuse is the norm in Mormon families.  Part of the real problem is that Mormon Church officials routinely cover-up the abuse.  They routinely lie, under oath, in court to protect the (usually) male offender - this has been well documented.  Utah is a theocracy controlled by the Mormon Church and it's an offender protected state.  Anyone can do an Internet search & find thousands of cases of sexual abuse perpetrated by Mormon Patriarchs.  It's not just Mormonism but all fundamentalist religions.  This family needs to file a law suit against the church officials who were made aware of the abuse & did nothing.  EVERY Mormon child needs to file suit against these people.  I've found that the ONLY thing that gets the attention of the church is to have there money endangered.

Do you want your Doctor's Office Visit's broadcast on national television?  HECK NO!

(Well maybe from some of your all posts.... maybe some of you all do...)

There is nothing wrong with that kind of thinking and I think most people think this way.

I am just shaking my head!

No I don't want my doctor's visit broadcast on national television or want to see yours but if someone wanted to talk about theirs and I overheard it and didn't like it I would just GO AWAY! I wouldn't tell them to shut up and keep it to themselves. Why are you on here posting if this hurts your sensibilities that much? I have been quiet about my abuse for FAR too long and so have all victims of abuse. As for saying that MOST PEOPLE think this way, where do get the right to generalise about other's feelings. Most people I know who hear about someone being abused are sympathetic towards them. Surely we are far past the centuries of sweeping stuff under the carpet?

Congratualtions to those who went on the show and helped all those other people to come on the boards. I have been posting on the CSA board for a number of months and I can't tell you what wonderful people I have met there. Since the show aired more and more people are coming forward and that is great. Why should we be quiet? We have done NOTHING wrong. We will NOT be abused again!

My name is Alexis and I believe that you already know my story. Honestly if you want to be close minded and naive fine, but how dare you come on here making out like WE are all out of our minds for opening up. I am really grateful that you weren't my Mom. I would hate to think that my mom is that blind or foolish to think that if we don't talk about it it will go away or won't happen.. After the last few days, I received many positive responses to my apperance on the show, and I WILL NOT be made out to be looking for pity. I DON'T want your pity, i don't want you to feel sorry for me. you obviously have some underlying issues that you need to deal with. Until you do, don't judge those of us who are on here looking for help, or support, or just someone to understand!!!!!!

I don't think that you can put it on just organizations...

and

To me this show was TMI:  TOO MUCH INFORMATION  I think it is really sad.  I can't remember when stuff like this started coming out of the closet.  There was a time when it wasn't discussed and then all of a sudden was.  I know when I started having kids I was protective of my children and haven't had any incidents.  If I would have caught someone hurting my child in this way I probably would have hit them (although I am not a violent person).  If I had any reservation about my babysitters or the young boys they babysat... I wouldn't let my kids stay there.  Kids should be playing with toys and not having sex.  And this is something I think about this family:  as children they should have been playing with toys.  I feel bad about hearing it.  I don't want to know it.  I think the hard thing is that our society gauks these people which I think PREVENTS their recovery.  And now they did this as children, and are TALKING about it as ADULTS....  I think they should regress and do the things they should have been doing as KIDS like:  Play putt putt golf, swimming or bowling or things like that.... hobbies....  I just hope they don't carry it the rest of their lives.....and can get past it........

It is people like this that are maybe responsible for hidden secrets of shame. If you ignore it it will go away. Incest is everywhere, saying it only happens in a certain church or organization is not helping. I had trouble with anyone helping me, at school at church, therapists, you name it. It is society, not Mormons or catholics, JMO.

I am more insulted than upset with our friend who thinks we all need to keep our secrets. Being that I made the apperance, to come on here and find out that what it took to come out and say something, was not good enough or not worth listening too, way to make a person feel good about themselves.

It is people like that who make the victims continue to carry their feelings of shame and guilt. And the only reason people want to keep it secret, is because of their own shame for letting it happen to someone they know and love.

I love your name by the way, makes me want to hug you!

I know that everyone is entitled to their opinion, I guess what I have a hard time with is they can come and read what people have gone through and say stuff like that to us, really ticks me off!

I am glad that you were on the show and you should be proud, don't let small minded uneducated people bother you, They are so not worth our acknowledgment any more.

Do you know that song, "Did You Ever Know That Your MY Hero" You are our hero!

I was very impressed with your appearance on that show. You have a tremendous amount of strength. I too was on that show and I hope that someone out there has benefited from us talking about such a "taboo" topic.

May God bless you and I hope that you receive the help and support that you need.

I don't know if you had a chance to read everything on here, but you should. there has been tremendous response to the show, and I know that it feels good to know that we might have helped someone find the courage to make it stop. Blessing my dear go both way, it took all of you a lot of courage to come and share your story with us as well. :)
