09/14 Season Premiere: 1,000 Women!

Quote From: donnalee

I have a daughter who is twelve, she is probably 58 inches tall, and weighs 126.  My son is eight, he is 56 inches, and he weighs 121.  I am very careful about portion size, and they always get healthy snacks.  We don't even keep chips or candy in the house.  I think genetics is it.  I am only 5 ft. and I weigh 124, but I can only eat about 700 calories a day, or my weight will soar.  As long as children feel loved and accepted within their families, weight should not be an issue, unless it is a health problem.

Part of the problem today is kids do not get enough exercise!! How many hours of tv do they watch a day? Video games or computer time?

What is your weight status/height. I am 5"7 and weigh 135 lbs and have a daughter who is slightly overweight and a son who is as thin as a rail. It truely is genetic sometimes as well as emotional. Please give these people your support and don't be so critical!!!

I am five six and 130. I do not think being a lil over weight is a big deal. I am talking about huge children. Its sad ppl vaule their childs health so little. Their heart has to work overtime when they are that big.

My son gets alot of exercise.  He plays baseball and football, he's continuously moving.  They only drink diet soda, which is not very often, and I water down their orange juice too.  I have nieces who eat like little piggies, and they are both thin.  I just don't get it.  When my children go the the pediatrician, they always mention their weight, and give us suggestions, which I already am doing.  We even drink skim milk.  They watch about 2 hours of tv.

breast implants

Completely agree with you. We as women need to stop this maddness and obsession with looking perfect... We just have to love ourselves the way we are! Sometimes it can be hard to except that we don't look they way we used to, but think of all the experiences you have had along the way and smile for all you've learned. The 3 women were beautiful the way they are, i wish they would change their minds about this ridiculous surgery....

No one mentioned that their is a 70% chance of capular contracture, if the implants are placed above the muscle.  It's very painful.

Who taught the daughter her eating habits? How pathetic it is when parents who are big and fat pick on there children who are the same. We teach in action much more than words. I know a few ppl have medical conditions, but for the most part ppl are overweight who eat too much. Go to an all you can eat bar.....who do you see there?...and who makes repeated trips to the bar? Its the overweight ppl. I am not saying it easy.....but not, many things worthwhile are!!
When I saw that segment, I thought, well duh, Jackie, has it never occurred to you, if you want your daughter to lose weight, maybe you ought to as well. You set her a lousy example, gorging yourself to 300 pounds. You taught her lousy eating habits. So, how about setting some good ones, for a change? Why, oh why, do Jackie, and so many othes like her, wonder why their children, too, are fat? When they're just following the examples set for them?
And, I've been to many all you can eat bars. And, seen the same things you've seen. Morbidly obese people making repeated trips to the bar, making a bee line for the most fattening  items on the bar. And, what do they select at the salad bar? Mounds of mayonnaise based prepared salads. Usually pasta, pototo, and tuna saleds. Then, smothering them with ranch dressing. I can see someone pick up a plate and pretty well predict what they'll be  piling on that plate.

I wasn't overweight as a teenager because she made sure I wasn't gonna get fat.  Always looking over my shoulder at what I ate.  She knows how it felt to be overweight and there was no way that was gonna happen to me.  Some of the things were a little drastic but it was for my own good.  Now this mom maybe trying to do the samething but her communications skills just may suck.  Blaming the parents I think is wrong however they need to learn how to communicate better so they can help her.  Some people think that hurting feelings will make people change. That is just poor communications skills.  They mean the best

Have you looked in the mirror lately?

This is to the Mother who was always criticizing  her daughter for being overweight. Have you looked in the mirror lately? She is no bigger than you. You should join your daughter in her effort to lose weight with Dr. Phil's help and lose some weight yourself.

Please eat something before it's too late

To the anorexic please eat somethin before it's too late. Your ex-boyfriend is a jerk for telling you that you were fat when you only weighed 110 lbs. He must have wanted to date a stick. I don't want to see you die, but you will die if you don't change your attitude about yourself and eat something. I am praying for you.

Smaller boobs make my life easier

Because I lost  50 pounds, thanks to following Dr phil's weight loss advice, my boobs went from 36DD to 34B. They may sag a little, when I'm not wearing a bra, but that's pretty normal for my age, 53. And, it's certainly made swimsuit shopping easier. Even though I could wear a medium bottom, an extra large top looked almost obscene on me. But, now  a mdium top covers me quite decently. No way I'd get implants and have trouble swimsuit shopping again!
