I followed since day one...hurricane katrina comes and everybody gets released after a week of supposedly nabbing them all ! Things that make you want to go hmmmmmm.......

So sad to find that Vandersloot and the Kalpoe Brothers are free. I was appalled to find out that Vandersloot left for college. I think that these boys dont have a clue seems getting away with things in Aruba is pretty much status quo. If you know the right people... well you know the right people. Paulus Vandersloot is going to back up the Kalpoes to keep his boy out of hot water. Just like he told Dave Holloway Natalees Daddy he is going to protect his son. Anita Vandersloot was ticked off when she returned from Holland to find that Daddy and son were out gambling and Daddy didnt watch baby Vandersloot and now there is a beautiful young girl named Natalee missing. I think the day that she was interviewed by Beth Twitty and Greta from Fox 5 she was about to spill the beans... actually to her credit at the time she may of not known it all. Now I think she does and she is even arrogant about it. Her son went off to college this was what was most important. Could he not of waited a year to leave no. He left right away. My heart, my prayers and my thoughts continue to go out to the Holloway/Twitty families especially Beth.  I feel your pain Beth... I lost my son to death on April 11, 2005 but not knowing where Natalee is must be the worst then to add insult to injury you have had to deal with all the corruption. Love and Prayers TumblesVA

Thanks Dr. Phil!

Thanks for doing a show on the Natalee Holloway disappearance.  I have followed the case from day one and am very concerned.  I am very disappointed that the media has forgotten about Natalee since the hurricane after months of intense coverage.  It's not fair to the viewers.  We all want to know about the hurricanes victims and the aftermath but a five minute update from Aruba would be nice too.  Beth and all of the family members who have been in Aruba constantly have conducted themselves better than most would have in this situation considering all of the obstacles they have faced while trying to find answers.  I have been appalled at the obvious sabotage of this case from the beginning, two examples include the failure to obtain evidence from the primary suspects and the search of the landfill that someone obviously didn't want completed.  I truly hope that Natalee is not in the landfill or in the pond that was never thoroughly searched.  I hope she is still alive and believe that is a possibility considering the illegal activities that Joran Van Der Sloot was involved in including underage drinking and gambling.  In my opinion he was involved in much more.  I hope all possibilities are being investigated.   I have a son that graduated in May and went to London in late June for his senior trip.  His best friend and his aunt were with him.  They were on their way to the airport to return home when the bombs started exploding in the subways.  We didn't know for about eight hours if they were safe or not.  It was the most terrifying day of my life.  I can only imagine what Natalee's family has been through.  They deserve answers and Natalee deserves to come home.  Thanks again Dr. Phil for doing this show, I'm hoping you can find the answers they need.

Warning To All Parents

My heart goes out to Natalie and her parents and I pray for them each night. But a warning to all parents. Be careful what you let your teenagers do and who the adults on the trip are. This can, as it has with Natalie, have consequences beyond what you can foresee? Accidents can happen but in areas of the world where Americans are looked upon as easy targets, your children need constant supervision.

Many of these High School Trips are basically unsupervised or supervised barely. The teens are let go anywhere without adults accompanying them. Each year, we hear of teens going missing and even college level students and in this day and age; one mistake (unlike my teen years) can cost a teenager his or her life. Parents be careful of your most precious gift becuase out in the world there are maniacs who will take their lives.

My family of four (includes two teenagers) planned and paid for a two-week cruise through the Panama Canal, which includes a day stop in Aruba in February of 2006.  I am sickened.  I have contacted the cruise line to ask that they either skip the stop or put pressure on Aruba.  If they want American dollars they better give us justice for Natalee and her family.  Stop the coverup.

Cover up @!!!

I want to  know how any  country  can feel good about covering up a dissapearence of  a vistitor to their counrty?

I have been watching and listening  to all the information about the disappearance of Natalee.

Im not a legal person but common sense can tell you that  there is a cover up.

Like the day they searched the land fill and  all of a sudden there is a fire there ...Whats the matter  ...to close for comfort?????

Then they don't search the VDS's property with  the  search group that came to help or the FBI.

And why is JORAN allowed to go to C&C's when he was underage to begin with ? And the casino's .......with Daddy Sloot ...thats  illeagal tooo.

It is so obvisous that this is  a cover up and its sad to say but I do believe that the  Us citizens should  boycott Aruba til something is done.!!!

There are many other places to go for lovley vacations  we don't  need to drop $4,000 a vacation in  a counrty that  won't accept responsibilty for thier own criminals....

Americans, BEWARE!

As a former expat American who lived in the London, England area for many years, I saw more and more of my fellow expats rudely awakened to the fact that, despite the language similarities and other home touches, when you leave the USA, you are NOT in America anymore and your kids and you are subject to the laws (or lack thereof) of whatever country you are in.

When you go on a cruise, you are subject to laws of the sea and the laws of the country of registry that the cruiseliner belongs to.   When you enter another country, even one that seems like "home", don't take for granted that they are going to look at your under-18s the same way as they would be viewed at home.  If the drinking age in that country is 16, your kids could be in bars getting slipped rohypnol or other date-rape drugs.  If the sex laws in that country are extremely liberal, your child could be raped (even if it seemed like consent) because it is allowed in that country.

Americans who travel abroad or even work abroad need to be better informed as to their rights as parents and about other social laws that will affect their families and themselves.  In England, children can go on welfare at age 16, whether they need it or not, just because they don't like the rules at home.  Many expat families found out the hard way that, even though their children were not legally allowed to live/work in the UK without the parent's visa, they could move out, be given public housing and funds, and not subject to any of their parents' rules.  They could even go and get abortions or RU-486 without parental consent and the parent couldn't get access to the child's medical records once they had reached the age of 16.  If you think things are the same as back home because it is comfortable, think again.  There will be a rude awakening, and it is our responsibility to be as informed as possible before we subject ourselves and our families to the laws of a foreign country.

As for Natalee Holloway, her parents and those of her peers should never have allowed a senior trip to a property of the Netherlands, one of the most liberal countries with easily accessible drugs, alcohol and sex laws aimed at about as irresponsible behavior with these things as there is.  Americans who go to these places uninformed are asking for trouble.

Natalie Holloway

Out of respect for Natalie's family I would never go to Aruba, even if someone paid me lots of money to go. It made me sick to hear that the Vander Sloot boy  walked away free. He may be free from the law, but I pray that God never allows a night without  him being in hell........

Natalee

This horrible incident has really hit everyone in the Birmingham and Mountain Brook, Alabama, areas very hard.  IT IS SO CLOSE TO HOME.  These are fine people and they had a beautiful daughter anyone would be proud of.  The Twitty's neighborhood is covered with yellow ribbons and numerous fund raisers have been held to help this family.  The Univ. of Alabama even held her scholarship for her in hopes she would return.  But it seems like its just not gonna happen.  My heart goes out to her mother and the family.  I say a prayer for all of them daily.

I have heard that this type of incident is not all that uncommon in Aruba and that the 3 boys made a habit out of stalking young girls as a group and raping them.  Joran had a history of being a bully and being ordered to take anger management.  And Joran was so big and Natalee so small.  What really angers me is the fact that the father is helping in a cover up.  What an example for his son...

The island of Aruba needs to be put on the U.S. traveler's warning list which is published by the State Dept. and used by travel agencies.  Also, I think travel agencies could do a lot of good by boycotting the island for honeymoon destinations, graduation trips, etc.  Hit them in the pocketbook where it hurts.  The island has a history of corruption and seedy goings on, so boycott them.  I know the population of Aruba are mostly nice people, but maybe it would encourage them to stand up against the corruption.  And, a good number of them did get angry at Beth's continued persistence.  You know -- it may be corrupt and a cover-up going on, but its their home and she was an outsider.

Dr. Phil:  Thank you for getting involved in this situation.  The entire country needs to know the danger our kids are in when they travel to foreign places.  They need to realize it just ain't the good ole' U.S. of A.  We chaperoned a band group to Canada once and even up there the kids learned that the rights they had back home they didn't necessarily have there.

Also, I feel the chaperones on Natalee's trip were not as vigilent as they could have been.  I've raised two kids and chaperoned many, many school trips.  These people just didn't seem to be as concerned about their responsibilities as they should have been.  I got the impression from newspaper interviews, etc., that they were along just to have a good time themselves.  This was not the way we chaperoned them in the Midwest!

Please include the Twittys and Holloways in your prayers.

09/15 The Disappearance of Natalee

I just want to send my best thoughts and prayers that Natalee is ok no matter where she may be at this point.  I am (along with everyone) just soooo terribly upset that something like this can happen.  I mean - where were the chaperones on this senior trip!  I am sick that we parents entrust our precious children to people that for whatever reason are just NOT competent.  I don't care if it was a group of seniors ........... they are still inexperienced and too young to be escorted to an unfamiliar place and then given the freedom to go around on their own.  Beth - you are in my every prayer - don't give up girl - hang on and God will bring closure for you.  I know it seems hopeless at this point - BUT - it's not and you will find the answers you need.  Just keep on keepin' on.  May the Lord bless you!  With sincerest concern - DM Sargent, TN
