09/15 The Disappearance of Natalee

First of all I would like to say that I too find it horrible that NH is missing and maybe murdered.

But I think most people, like me, who are reacting don't know much about the Dutch law system. By just saying that it's bad you don't prove anything.

I am Dutch, therefore all the things I know about the American law system came to me through the media. We get way more American news through the media than you get Ducth.

Did the Aruban/Dutch government fail in this case? Probably, but on a small island like Aruba you haven't got the best murderdetectives, so the local police don't have the techniques and personell to take on this case the right way.

That's why the dutch government sended help, as far as I know they send detectives, F16's and the use of techniques which the Arubans don't have and I think the Dutch police is just as good as the American, maybe even better.

Why is it strange that while the case is being investigated no comment about the case is given. Nobody wants an innocent man in prison, just because the American media are putting the Aruban politicians under pressure. What we want is that the real killer goes behind bars, untill we are completely sure that he is the killer he's just a suspect.

That's probably the big difference between the Dutch and the Americans, you react really emotional and want someone behind bars as soon as possible. We also want someone behind bars, but we really want to make sure it's the right guy!!

(I think a lot of the americans that are reacting in this topic have got no idea about  what happens in the Netherlands. I hear an undertone that says: The soft-drugs are legal there, prostitiution, abortion, and many other things that we find strange. So their law system is messed up.

But I think all of these things make the Netherlands better than America. For weed we don't have to go to a dealer, we just go to a shop. So it also happens in America, but here it's safer!)

Sad news... and behave

Hi there,

I really hope for the family they will find her alive and in save hands.

I know for sure the family carries a heavy emotional pressure wheather what happened and where there beloved daughter might be. I wish people did not make crimes/kidnappings/murder etc.

I am glad the family did searched for media attention, thats always a good thing when a missing person is on television. It would be harder for the other to hide her.

But pointing fingers at Nations, is a negative thing only when a prime minister is involved in the case. I do feel myself 100% dutch. For some of you is that the same a blassemy.

Isnt it that the media is miss using its power here. To suggest things like boycot a complete nation or even make worse suggestions. .

Isnt that in the civilized world, people need a fair trial? Where do we go if we make our own laws and trial people by our intuition? Does that make our selves better then the rest? Isnt it that the media is pushing the public over the edge? Consider yourself as a Dutch and read the lines in the newspaper and stories that are told back. We read that every dutch citizen is a bad one in your american eyes, and thats not true. Offcourse in every nation there are bad guys, even in the United States of America, no nation is a perfect one.

Maybe my English isnt that well, but well I tried to make my point.

And also hope that every-one does not point there fingers at anyone at all, untill there has been a fair trial. Also when every one says that they have prove, but you have proves and proves. Last seen with Van der Sloot doesnt mean that he is the badguy. Maybe he is without knowing an important witness.

For the family once again I really do hope you find her and that God has send an Angel to watch her.

With Kind Greetings,

Vorri-on

it's so easy to blame someone, or a country.

 Hi everybody.

I'm writing this because I would like to tell everybody how I think about Natalee, her mom and the media circus that has come over this.

Just go with me. I think that natalee's mom is making some severe acusations about the Netherlands, and that ofcouse is very nice to do, because you all know how liberal we are. But don't interfere with people, let the JUSTICE system do his work. You all make such a big fuss about one girl, where there are plenty more girls/people lost aswell. And that is not getting this much attention. So I just want to say that I really disapprove the behavior of natalee's mom.

I would allso like to say that I don't approve the thing that happened. I wish her parents a lot of power to get over this, and I'm feeling very sorry for them.

Regards from the liberal justice country.

As an american living in Holland I am embarrassed and dismayed by many of  the comments posted by Americans. I would take a good hard look at America's  political and  judicial systems  before jumping on the dump on Holland/ Neth. Antilles bandwagon.  Remember the words of GOD and take it to heart people!

"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brothers eye and pay NO attention to the plank in your own eye? You HYPOCRITE  first take the plank out of your own eye and then you will see clearly...."  Matthew 7: 3

I'm with you on that!   A bit ignorent that the Americans on this page believe that Holland and Aruba is all about sex and drugs. I'm sorry that all dutch don't have a law so we can carry guns on the street, have no have no gang wars and that we have an a very good health care system.

09/15 The Disappearance of Natalee

I'm a Arubian citizen, living in Holland.

This whole Nathalee Holloway case makes me very sad.

I'm sad about how you think about  ARUBA, that Aruba is no safe anymore.

That the Arubian people don't care for your people and that we are after you $$$.

The Arubian people are hard-workers, very loyal y honest persons, that or law is not as force as the US law is true, but we are still a part of the Netherlands.

Dr. Phil with all my respect to you, because I love your show and watch it every day, I wonder have you ever been to Aruba?I don't think so.

I'm challenging you to take the courage to go to Aruba to see for yourself, and I know that you will change your point of view.

My brother was killed 7 years ago while he was working by a Colombian & Venezuelan.

But we never came to the idea to boycott Colombia or Venezuela.

We left it in the hand of GOD.

Aruba is a very small Island that depends on Tourist, I doesn't feel nice that we are in such negative view by the whole world. There is so much going on in the US so many missing persons, In Alabama are around 13 Peron's missing, all that terrorist acts, hurricanes, and so on...

I hope that when the whole truth come above that the whole us community makes a public apologize to Aruba and that you can try to change the negative view of Aruba.

 GOD BLESS ARUBA

The rediculous dutch

Quote From: howdyi

I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE THE BOYCOT. ESPECIALLY AFTER READING ALOT OF THE REDICULOUS COMMENTS FROM RESIDENTS OF THE NETHERLANDS.  YOU PEOPLE ARE MISSING THE POINT.   YOUR LEGAL SYSTEM IS AN EMBARASSMENT  TO SAY THE LEAST.   THESE COMMENTS ARE MADE SUGGESTING THAT   YOU HAVE NO REMORSE AND ARE FORGETTNG THE FACTS.    THESE BOYS HAVE LIED OVER AND OVER.  THEY KNOW EXACTLY WHERE NATALIE IS. JUSTICE NEEDS TO BE SERVED AND YOUR SCREWED UP LEGAL SYSTEM NEEDS TO QUIT PROTECTING THESE IDIOTS.   BETH IS A STRONG LADY , AND I THINK THAT IS ALSO A PROBLEM FOR THE PEOPLE ARUBA.  AGREE WITH BETH 100%.  THANK YOUR LEGAL SYSTEM IF THE BOYCOTT PREVAILS. THEY OBVIOUSLY ALSO DO NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE CITIZENS OF ARUBA.   GOD BLESS BETH, NATALIE, AND FAMILY.  GOD BLESS THE USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really want to meet you, because you are probably a mindreader. You already know that the boys are guilty. Were you one of the investigators? Or have you been listening to the, so called 'news'?   And please tell me why you think that our legal system is aweful? Have you studied dutch law? If you have, you know that our flawed system really does protect the innocent, even those who are wrongfully accused. And I thought you have to be proven guilty for a crime in your country....   I also want to mention that my country does not have a patriot act like you, or as i like to call it: the 1984 act (If you don't get this one, you are not a reader!). No wonder that your policemen and women are armed to the teeth. Maybe Orwell was a visionary of the USA...   I am really sorry fot the girl, really. But to badmouth a country an a legalsystem you don't know... Well, we can all throw garbage at each other. So let the police work, let the media (including Oprah, Phil, etc) butt out (one of the wordt problems in your country in my opinion is the american media that only gives information to shock the americans, not to give facts; give higher viewerratings).   And Dr. Phil, I really like your show. Well not always, but most of the time I do. But to say that she has been sold as a slave. Well I think that could be a great movie! Fictional yes, but nevertheless a great movie.

Arnhem Rocks!

Quote From: concern789

I have to give you some credit for this statement, See, you might very well be barking up the wrong tree, while the person who is responsible for the missing of Natalee is still running free. That made me laugh, that was a good one INDIGO, given the PRIME suspect/s, JORAN is RUNNING FREE, as well as, the KALPOE BROTHERS, [and PAULUS, etc. All of the above were released and are currently running free. Ask yourself these most basic questions. Would you feel comfortable if your daughter, your niece, your female friend was currently attending the Arnhem Business School along with Joran? Or went on a date or was drinking with Joran in Aruba, in Arnhem, in The Netherlands, or anywhere for that matter? Would you feel comfortable if your daughter, your niece, your female friend hung out with Deepak/Satish in Aruba, or at Carlos & Charlies, or got into their car, or went anywhere with either or both of them? Ask yourself the same or similar questions but substitute Paulus Van Der Sloot. Then ask yourself, given what you now know, if you are barking up the wrong tree or not?
I come from Arnhem, A very nice place to live. My brother even went to that school.

09/15 The Disappearance of Natalee

I would like to say to Natalee's family that they are all in my prayers. I know this has to be very hard time for all of them.

I completely agree with the boycott. If that is what it takes to get their justice system's attention then we have to do what we have to do. Natalee's family has been dealing with this for quite sometime and it seems to me that something has to be going on for her mom to want to take this approach. I don't blame one bit of this on the Aruban people, but I do think that the police there are acting like they have something to cover up. Why won't they let the FBI step in? Could it be because the number 1 suspect is a high ranking official's son? I personally have my doubts about what happened to her but I don't see why America is not allowed to help in the investigation of one of their citizen when they want to help. Some of the other post stated that Aruba is not set up to deal with problems like this so why not let experienced people do what they need to do.

I truly hope that Natalee is alive and found very soon. I think that both Americans and Aruban officials should be working together to find her!

09/15 The Disappearance of Natalee

Quote From: kevinnl

I find it absolutely horrifying that Joran van de Sloot and his father have been allowed to take refuge in the Netherlands with this case still open in Aruba.

I would like Doctor Phil to extend his boycott of Aruba to the Netherlands as well.

-Kevin Jansen
Amsterdam,  NL

You are joking right? Because of one ducth guy who is involved in a case of a missing teen, we should  boycott NL? Are you sure that you are from the Netherlands?

And here is a little tip for american teens:

- When you are on vacation, never go alone to a bar or whatever.

- Don't ever be alone with men or people who are strangers to you.
