EDUCATION & PREVENTION & SAFETY IN NUMBERS

Thank you for your feedback and sentiments towards Natalee's family and supporters. However, Natalee was chaperoned, as were all the graduates on holiday in Aruba. BUT, if Natalee was drugged by a date rape drug such as; Ecstasy, Rohypnol, GHB or others, those drugs would have left her with no control, left her helpless, left her slipping in and out of consciousness, and especially with Rohypnol left her "unconscious" along with "amnesia" meaning zero memory of what happened to her prior to coming to from the drug. It is highly likely and I feel believable this prescious girl, Natalee, was drugged by some kind of date rape drug. Please go to NARCONON, WEBMD, or contact your doctor, or A PEDIATRICIAN TO FIND OUT INFORMATION ON DATE RAPE DRUGS, or other medical professionals, etc. These drugs can be lethal, they can cause overdose, they can cause coma's , they can cause amnesia, especially when mixed with alcohol. PLEASE EDUCATE YOUR KIDS, PARENTS, AND LOVED ONES ABOUT DATE RAPE DRUGS AND ALSO ENCOURAGE THEM TO PRACTICE SAFETY IN NUMBERS - NO MATTER WHERE THEY ARE -, and also TAKE A SELF DEFENSE COURSE, etc. EDUCATION & PREVENTION CAN & DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Yet WE HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO HELP ALL VICTIMS AND THE FAMILYS OF "MISSING PERSONS."

Dr. Phil,

I have been a great fan of yours since your first appearances on the Oprah show.  I usually agree wholeheartedly with your opinions on most subjects and think you are "right on".  However, I can't help feeling that you have overlooked one important aspect of Natalee's tragedy and that is the mother should never have allowed a young girl just graduating from high school to go to Aruba to celebrate!!  It is so unthinkable to me to give permission to an 18 year old to go off unchaperoned to another country to "have a party".  I have 5 children and 7 grandchildren and it is just out of my realm of thinking to allow this sort of thing to happen.  Granted, I amd my children and grandchildren are not affluent and so this has not been an issue.  But, I hear and see so many of the young affluent kids these days out partying (drinking, sex, and drugs) that the parents have to step up and take responsibility.

I really feel so badly for this mother and I can't imagine what she must be going through to not know what has happened to her daughter.  I also feel that Aruba needs to be accountable, but it is still my feeling that if Natalee had been told "no, you can't go" this would never have happened.  I have seen TV specials on the partying that goes on in Mexico with the teens chug-a-lugging until they pass out and no one being around to care.  What a shame.  It really is a wonder there haven't been more deaths.

I AGREE WITH ALL OF WHAT YOU SAID OTHER THEN ABOUT DR.PHIL.PEOPLE GO MISSING ALL THE TIME FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE AND FROM EVERY COUNTRY.I HATE IT AND ITS GOT TO STOP.WE HAVE MISSING KIDS HERE TOO.I THINK SOMEONE SHOULD BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS.BUT NOT THE GOVERMENT.ALL THO I HAVE NEVER BEEN OUTSIDE OF CANADA.SO I DONT REALLY KNOW HOW OTHER COUNTRYS WORK OTHER THEN WHAT I HEAR ON T.V.BUT WHY DON'T PEOPLE BLAME THESE KIDS FOR TAKING HER OR DRUGGING HER.OR FOR WHAT THEY DID TO HER.GOD PEOPLE ALWAYS BLAME THE GOVERMENT FOR EVERYTHIG.I DOTN THINK THEY SHOULD HOW EVER IM ONLY ONE PERSON.I WISH YOU THE BEST BETH.AND NEVER GIVE UP

hit them where it hurts

The Aruban government will not feel the pressure until it feels the financial pinch.  The American people should boycott any cruise liner that makes a stop in Aruba. In addition, if I were marketing a cruise liner, I would publicly state that our ships will not be stopping in Aruba in the near future. The ships would probably gain customers with a "We Support Natalee" campaign.

I was dissapointed...

No one deserves to have there child taken from them in the way Natalee has been taken from her parents. That being said, it was a huge opportunity lost when Dr. Phil did not address the extreemly adult descisions placed on this young girl and her friends on their "Senior Trip". Natalee's mother even suggested that something was slipped into her drink by a bartender. What was an 18 year old girl doing in a foreign country drinking at a bar to begin with. No series of bad decisions will ever make it OK for evil to happen in the world, but the first bad decision was to send her on that trip. Once on her own, Natalee was the one making the decisions that would keep her safe or put her in harms way. A responsible adult would understand that drinking and leaving with strange men was not a "safe" choice. It is clear that this precious child did not have the maturity to be on her own so far from home. There are so many young men and women that get good grades and don't get into trouble and parents equate this with being responsible in adult situations. Don't assume your child is able to handle the big choices untill they have proven themselves in the little ones.

SHe was drugged and assaulted

Quote From: lilywhite8

So many young Americans, get drunk every weekend and act irresponsibly. I am in now way implying that Natalle deserved to be killed. HOWEVER, leaving with 3 strangers in a foreign country was certainly the WRONG choice to make. Hopefully, some young women have smartened up realizing that you can't just do thing haplessly. And where were the so-called chaperones?? People can talk about the goverments response, all they want but there are many ways this tragedy could have been avoided.

you act as though she had all her facility's after being what I understand she was drugged. she did have a couple drinks, maybe not even two, but it only takes one drink and a date rape drug to get her so looped she had no idea what she was doing. You got to bat for these guys who admit they so much as raped her.  If a guy can get away with having sex with a woman, teen girl and no one would find out about it most men would do it. I read a report in a magazine several years ago where men where asked if they could have sex with a young girl of 13 or younger and no one would find out most all the men questioned said yes they would do it.. Many men, guys feel that sex is theirs for the taking. Give a girl some drugs or get her drunk, act like you like her and you pretty much have control.Sadly most men would not do the right thing. and isn't it interesting how many guys and men stick up for their fellow man..Hey what the heck it's only sex.. What does that hurt.. relax and take it. Is that what you are trying to say, by sticking up for those criminals..I just sit back and watch guys come to their defense over and over again.. I know how most guys are... I know first hand how men can be.. Now I'm the mom of a 24 yo daughter and just like beth I'd be beating doors down to find my daughter. and yes American need to stay away from Aruba. Those people have a way to tell their legal system that what they did by releasing these guys (monsters) is wrong.. I mean he admits to being alone with her, having sex with her, in-fact all three of them RAPED HER..I guess it's a mans world and you don't pay for that in Aruba.. Makes me sick... Beth we are praying for you and hoping that Men in this country and Aruba will stand up and tell all men that rape is wrong and a crime.. Prove me wrong Men.. Yell as loud as us women about this atrocity.. ( now in saying all that I said... I do know that there are some caring and unique men out there that are sickened but this case.. And in fact have gone to great lengths to help look for natalee..I aplaud you in your efforts..thank you.. Me personally Think that knowing that Paul van de sloots home was not searched at all, my gut has said for a long time that her body is on that property( maybe in a deep freezer.I don't know. but not finding even a speck of anything of natalees anywhere makes me think Paul knows where she is and in fact probably has her body hidden and I feel that pauls wife knows alot more than she's saying. I think they should let the parents of natalee have someone go in a search the heck out of that house.. Paul vds knows everything.. Amazing how Katrina hits and eron and daddy flee the country.. And I agree with dr. phil American need to stand up for this young girl and stay out of ARUBA.. AND TO THOSE GIVING BETH A HARD TIME... Please Stop and think of what you would feel like if this was your daughter missing.. I know I am going to get hate mail... Ok, if it means getting people riled up enough to bring more attention to this case... My prayer are with the family of Natalee... We all want answers...If you are not one of these men that I spoke of earlier, and you know who you are... Pat yourself on the back for being decent...

Aruba's government

I think if Americans put the pressure on Aruba then it will hit their government in the wallet.  Then maybe their citizens will also put the pressure on the government.  I think  Van der Sloot's dad has a lot of influence there so maybe that is why they are not doing anything about this case.  I think it is disgusting.   I couldn't believe how coldhearted Depok sounded today about Natalee.   I know Natalee's dad lives in Mississippi.  I wonder if he had any problems since the hurricane hit.

Judge's property

Quote From: scalliwags

Dr. Phil, thank the Lord you are now getting involved.  I just cannot understand why they cannot search the judges property, I have a feeling Natalie may be down their well...have felt this for a long time....to the family just know our thoughts and prayers are with you all.  The Greater Judge is watching from above.....I still pray nightly that justice will be served, so stay on their backs, maybe can we do it from here.....
I absolutely agree with you about searching the judge's property.  I think they might find her there.  I can't see why they can't get a court order to go in and search.

09/15 The Disappearance of Natalee

Quote From: falloutboy

Is every that naive to think that a young teenage girl would tell her mother everything about her? especially the fact that she wasnt a virgin anymore. dr phil shouldnt have dismissed the fact that she didnt lie to quickly. this girl was in a bar in the first place, drinking, but she reportedly didnt do these kind of things
I understand what your saying i thought the same when i saw the show.

partially agree

Quote From: rachelvega

I agree to the sentiment of what teenage girls will do when parents are not there.  As the mother of two teen girls myself I know that they are not little angels.  I would be a fool to think so.  An 18 yr old

beuatiful girl that far away from home without parents there keeping a watchful eye is bound to do things even if they are out of character to her normal at home life.  I knw that Dr Phil said that her lifestyle shows no blemish...........but that is at home ............that is not in a far away place where one might think that anything she does or anyone she meets there she will never cross paths with again.  This helps to breed a whole different mentallity especially with an overexcited and adventuresome teen (male of female).

On the other hand .....NOONE deserves the trreatment or the misjustice that is being dealt to her or her family and ARUBA should be ashamed of the way they are treating the situation.Cover ups and trying to make a young girl out to be the one to blame is just WRONG.No matter what she did or did not do.  I pray for her family and send out my best wishes from one mother to another.  My children are my life and the best thing that I have accomplished with it and would never in my worst nightmare want to be in her mothers shoes.  I say good for her for not giving up !!!!!

Also kudos to Dr. Phil for shedding some light and helping to apply pressure for some justice for this family
