Let's Be Fair

hope there are some fair-minded Americans who will avoid current mob mentality and continue to visit Aruba. Those who want to fry this tiny nation for its sins can visit American cities where they can risk their lives in American style. What is the murder rate in Aruba compared to, say, Miami? What is the rate of unsolved date rapes. What are the chances of all this fuss about a black girl? I suppose this has already all been said but the message doesn't appear to be getting through to those who need an excuse to bully.

Come on, Dr. Phil!

I watched yesterday's show with a great deal of interest. At the conclusion of the show, I was quite disappointed in Dr. Phil's threats to the people of Aruba. My husband and I visit this wonderful island each year and have done so for the past 5 years. This year, we arrived on the day Natalee disappeared and were there for 11 days thereafter. We participated in the search for Natalee and met many people equally concerned for Natalee and her family. During our search, we uncovered what could have been evidence in this case. We reported our findings to the police and subsequently lead them to the area. We spent time with the police and detectives who responded to our call. I must admit that the search was disorganized and the police seemed to be novices despite being on the force for 30+ years. However, to suggest that "we" punish the people of Aruba by boycotting the island is absurd! Everyone needs to understand that the authorities do not deal with this sort of situation often, crime is rare, resources are at a minimum, and the judicial system is different from our own. These are not excuses to an unsolved missing persons case; however, "we" need to be respectful of other countries and the laws that govern them. There are countless crimes that are unsolved in our country alone so to blame this country is hypocritical in my opinion. I saw, first hand, the concern and out pouring assistance offered by the people of Aruba. My husband and I are already looking forward to our 2006 visit to this wonderful island! As always, my prayers are with Natalee and her family....this prayer includes that responsibility to be taken by those involved, answers for the family and above all the safe return of Natalee.

Open apology to the Dutch

On behalf of all Americans, willing or not, I'd like to apologise to the Aruban and Dutch peoples for the poor and ignorant behavior of all the Americans who have been so critical over this Holloway nonsense and who are in favor of boycotting tourism to the island.   Try to understand that American opinion is governed first by our manipulative and myopic media and secondly by emotional outbursts.  Logic and the facts do not even figure into the thinking of the majority of American opinions.  The war in Iraq is a perfect example, not to mention Kobe Bryant, Lacy Peterson, and OJ Simpson.    I well know that America is 10 times more dangerous than Aruba, The Netherlands, or most any other country in the world.  Foreign tourists have been warned for years about the scams, murders, kidnappings, child abductions, car jackings, and serial killers being rampant in this country.  And since Bush has decided he has the ability and God-given right to randomly invade whatever country strikes his fancy, we're regarded as being even more deranged.   I lived in The Netherlands for almost 10 years and it was probably the most enjoyable time of my life, mostly because I never felt so safe.  Cops were everywhere and there is comparitively little crime.  There's no homeless, no unemployed, and the Dutch people are enjoy living their life instead of trying to screw everyone else.  I can only hope that maybe in 100 years, America will be as advanced.   Americans forget that the Dutch helped found this country (New Amsterdam), that the Pilgrim fathers came from Leiden, and The Netherlands was one of the first countries to officially recognize the new United States after the Revolutionary War.  I'm sure the people of New Orleans could use the assistance of the world's experts at levee building and living below sea level, but after all the insults, I'd be surprised if they'd lift a finger.   We in America are a young country, just like a young person, have a chip on our shoulder for no reason, are still stumbling around trying to act mature, yet unable and unwilling to learn from older and wiser persons, instead bullying everyone and repeating the mistakes of history.  And what's worse, due to our geography, we're a kid who's been given a big gun that he doesn't know what to do with, so we're not taking any advice from anybody 'cause we know best. (Any parents heard this before?)    I know there will be a lot of stupid and angry replies to this from ignorant Americans ("keep your opinion to yourself", "why don't I just leave if I don't like it", etc.) and you can just add those to the list of examples of why Americans simply can't deal effectively with the truth or with the outside world.   So, try to forgive those who don't understand and don't know any better. And to all Americans, it's time to wake up and understand how poorly this country is regarded around the world.  Stop perpetuating the stereotype.

I am here for Beth Twitty & family

I am a friend of Beth Twitty since this whole disaster started. I spoke to Beth right before she was going onto this show. I missed the tape but ordered it today. I PLAN TO definitly respond to the show AFTER I review it in detail. I have been privy to some of the clips on the internet and the interview with Deepak Kalpoe was nothing short of DISGUSTING. Deepak, Sateesh Kalpoe, Joran , Paul and Mrs. Van der Sloot, Steven Croes and that new boy that raped and videoed the 14 year old NEED to be RE-ARRESTED. I believe that without a doubt there is a MASSIVE cover-up going on and there should be a BOY COT to ARUBA!!! I OR MY FAMILY WILL NEVER EVER EVER GO TO ARUBA AND GIVE YOU ONE PENNY. How dare you people out there critizize a mother looking for her child. I implore you to imagine it if it was your own child. How would you deal with her missing? Her rape? Her rapists and killers FREE??????? Deepak was abominable and i loathed hearing him. I can only imagine hearing the rest of those low life losers. I for one will ALWAYS supprt the Twitty, Holloway family & until Natalee is brought home - I will stand by Beth Twitty forever. Thank you Dr. Phil for bring this back to the media.

09/15 The Disappearance of Natalee

Quote From: present_x

And you have prove about the drugs? You were sitting next to her when it happened?

What about Dutch people that died in America because of your gun policy? We don't start a TV program to boycotte America. That is just stupid. This has nothing to do with the island, but some people that live there. And they don't even have any evidence that they are guilty. Why destroy an insland because of that?

What do you mean there is no evidence that they are guilty? weren't those three boys the last ones with her?the tv program to boycott aruba is NOT stupid it needs to be done. It has evrything to do with the island, you people on the island are the government so it has everything to do with the whole island. I think whats stupid is the fact that the government in Aruba is ignoring the fact that those boys were the last ones to see her, and the fact that they just let them go free, as if they didn't do anything, and they don't know anything is just insane. If the Aruban officals don't solve this crime and give this mother and her family an answer as to what happened to Natalee, I don't believe that any Americans should travel to Aruba, obviously Americans aren't respected in Aruba, so why would we support your country?

09/15 The Disappearance of Natalee

Quote From: onemom

The FBI was very limited in Aruba - not allowed to see all of the evidence & statements, were unable to question the suspects AND HAD NO AUTHORITY.  I agree that the Aruban people were helpful - but was that really needed when they had all they needed in 3 jail cells?  Natalee was given a drug - drugs alter your thought process - THIS WAS A CRIME - someone is responsible and the Aruban Authorties had in their custody the last 3 people who were with this young woman.

Natalee's family and any family who has children that travel deserve more respect from a government that knows their citizens depend on tourism.

I'm sorry, but that is total nonsense. The FBI has had access to everything the authorities had. Under Dutch law, however, they are not allowed to question people from the Kingdom of the Netherlands. I know that is a shock for you Americans who tend to see the whole wide world as your playground, but there it is.

And Natalee was given a drug? How would you know? Were you there? If so, what did you do with her?

Being the last person seen with her doesn't equal killing someone.

Why does it have to be done? Explain. And what makes you think that I'm from that island? You can't even read my profile, but you can judge who is guilty?

And again, I lost count already... In Dutch law the government has to prove you're guilty, whereas in America you have to prove your innocent. If the government doesn't have any evidence, like a body, they can't touch them, even if they wanted.

Also, try to find those many people that are still missing in America first. If you can't do that, don't judge another country.

Another thing. The Dutch government sent a ship filled with supplies to New Orleans, before Americans even started the aid to YOUR people. That fleet came from Aruba by the way. Maybe we should ask them to return...

Mrs. Ellyn F.

First of all I would like to give you my deepest sympathy and I wish you power and strenght to deal with this immense loss. I admire your courage and will to get the ones who did it trialed.

What I do not understand is why you don't hire a dutch toplaywer with an excellent resume on these kind of cases, when you suspect such a big cover up. The dutch are very strict when it comes to justice and defeating corruption has always been a primary goal. I think it will lead to a much more satisfactorary results than raging in the media.

Let us not forget that the investigation is still going on and that joran is not allowed to leave the country. Let us pray that the police will soon find the necessary facts to re-arrest these criminals and bring them before justice.

THANK YOU DR. PHIL!!!!!

Finally, someone who can actually help the Hollaway family!  My heart is breaking over  this case and I am writing all the people you listed in Aruba. I will never visit Aruba either, I can tell you that.

It burns me that the Aruban govt lets these pigs free, knowing full well that they are at least guilty of having her drugged and then raped.  I dont know how Beth holds up in all of this, because I feel like flying down there and giving them hell!   I feel a lot better knowing Dr Phil is on the case.

YOU ARE THE BEST DR PHIL!  GOD Bless you!

(((hugs for the Hollaway family) I pray you get the answers you need and those involved in her dissapearance are brought to Justice..
