09/15 The Disappearance of Natalee

Quote From: concern789

[THIS IS AN INFORMATIVE ARTICLE by VAN ZANDT AND WORTH READING THE ENTIRE PIECE VIA THE THIS LINK############################http://msnbc.msn.com/id/9398540/ ################################# PROFILER'S PERSPECTIVEFormer FBI profiler Clint Van Zandt shares his case insights, updates - MSNBC Sept 19 2005 ############################# Three and a half months ago, 18-year-old Natalee Holloway stepped into a car with Dutchman Joran van der Sloot and Surinamese brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe and drove off into the night, on what may well have been her last night on earth. We all know the story, one that cable television has told and retold: pretty, smart high school graduate goes missing while on a school trip to the happy island of Aruba. On the last night of her trip Natalee visited a well-known tourist trap and bar, Carlos N Charlies. Any local worth his salt can tell you that women can be found there who might drink a little too much. In a worst case scenario, a woman might even be convinced to accompany complete strangers on a trip around the island, perhaps visiting upon herself a horror that she could never have anticipated. ################################ [PARENTS, TAKE NOTE OF THIS PARAGRAPH TO PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE OR TRAVEL While recently in Aruba, I spoke to people who told me about predators on certain exotic islands who look for young and not so young women that are spending their last night on such an island paradise. The game plan, so Im told, is to find an intoxicated woman, or get a woman drunk, or to drug the woman. Then while intoxicated, drugged, or both; the victim, with little or no strength or ability to resist, is next taken to a lonely location, possibly gang raped, and then dumped back at or near her hotel. Were such a victim to report that she had been assaulted, local authorities would then tell her that the investigation would require her to miss her plane ride home or her cruise ship away from the island. Further, the victim is told that her life will be turned upside down by the subsequent investigation. Most women get the message accept your fate and move on with your life. Score: predators 1, victim 0.###############################[AS POSTED ON HYSCIENCE, HERE IS ANOTHER EXCERPT########################http://www.hyscience.com/archives/2005/09/harrytho_commen.php#################################"Van Zandt feels that the Aruban authorities have enough to charge the suspects with lesser offenses, and I believe that most of us on the planet would agree with him.***************************************************************************************""Clint van Zandt, likewise, discussed the "predatory game" that is active on the island of Aruba, something we've alluded to before. Essentially, he describes an old "cutting" game in which women on their last night in town are selected for drugging and gang raping, then dropped off near their hotel. If they complain, the police describe, in detail, how they will be required to remain for the prosecution. Van Zandt concludes that most, if not all women, just pick up their goods and leave without seeking any further action. "################################

If there are any woman out there that this has happened to, you should all come together and face it.  This has to stop.  I have vacationed in Aruba,  never again. Aruban officials should really look into this and get a handle on it.  Don't just sweep it under the rug.  DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT,  show people you do care what happens there and that you are proud of your island.  Your should do it for your people and all visitors.

09/15 The Disappearance of Natalee

I was following this message board from the day it started.  I honestly can't do it anymore.  To see what everyone is saying here.  It is horrible that Natalee is missing.  But that fact that nobody is willing to try to look at things from the other side.  Everyone here is stuck with what they think and not taking the time to think that maybe their views are wrong.  I'll admit that when this message board first started I was like everyother American here, I was irrate...I was even going to write letters to the people of Aruba.  Then as time went on and I heard more from both sides, I can't believe I was thinking like that.  I was honestly upset at a whole country for 1 missing girl.  And my heart does go out to her, but we cannot blame all of Aruba for this, and it is just the most ridiculous thing I've heard that we would jeopardize a whole country's economy based on 1 missing persons case.  I just cannot believe the hypocrisy going on here.  And I would hate to sound repetitive, but how can we americans say we are afraid to go to Aruba when it is more safe than our own country?  OH, I know, because most americans think that we are better than the rest of the world just because we live in America.  And that is just ridiculous.  We as americans would be nothing if it were not for the rest of the world, and I can honestly say that I am ashamed to have to associate myself with some of these people.

09/15 The Disappearance of Natalee

Quote From: ilovearuba

Dear Dr. Phil,

Let me begin by saying that I have always enjoyed your appearances on the Oprah show, admired your “no-nonsense” response and forth righteousness.  However, your recent show on the disappearance of Natalee Halloway disappointed me greatly.

There have already been too many one-sided reports by the US media on this issue, and when we (the people of Aruba ) heard that Dr. Phil would devote an hour on this issue, we thought that maybe finally, the story would have a fair and HONEST view.  Our hopes for fairness were crushed while watching your one-sided show.  Yet again, a member of the US media, a TRUSTED member, let the country of Aruba down.   What happened here with Natalee is a terrible tragedy, and that you are willing to put forth your effort to help her mother find the truth is commendable.  HOWEVER, blaming an entire country and its people for what happened is simply too horrible, unrealistic and untrue for words.

Aruba did ALL it could and more to help find Natalee and solve the mystery.  Do you know of one instance that somewhere in your country people were given days off from work to help search for a missing person?? Do you know of one instance in your country that F-16 planes were sent in the air to look for a missing girl??  Many Aruban rescue-teams turned the island upside-down—damaging the natural habitats on the island—people opened their homes, restaurants, hotels and hearts to aid the family and CONTINUE to do so.

How many girls disappear in the U.S.A. on a monthly or weekly basis?

How many young girls on college campuses are being raped with the date-rape-drug?

How many unsolved murders, attacks, abductions, etc., are there in your country EVERY DAY??

Almost daily some newspaper in your country has such a report!  Are you advising people NOT to go to your shows in California , where at least two men of whom most people think one murdered his wife and the other molested children, WALK FREE??  But you believe in your justice system, right? Well we believe in ours too, and as long as there is no HARD evidence to prove that the three boys committed a crime, you simply cannot prosecute, no matter how frustrating this sometimes may be!

Then, at last, to correct some comments made in your show: that sometimes drugs are put in drinks is a sad given around the world, so also in your country, but to suggest that it is common practice in Aruba , is preposterous!  We are part of the Dutch kingdom (so your comment that the v.d. Sloots “fled” is also unjust, they can be picked up in Holland just as easy!), a law-abiding country, where such a situation, being proven, most certainly would be prosecuted!! Mr. v.d. Sloot is NOT a judge, he was in training to BECOME a judge, which is no longer the case. Aruba cannot prosecute Joran for having sex, with an apparently drunk, Natalee, she is 18yrs old, which in our country (and in the US) is considered adult and she willingly got into the car with the three boys.  For three months these boys were interrogated by our local police assisted by your FBI— as well as interrogated by special agents flown in from Holland again and again, and no definite proof came out of all that. And the “holier then thou” natalee-presentation is, although very understandable from her mother’s side, also a little beside the truth, according to different reports.  You just have to go to one spring-break in your own Florida to see how happy celebrating teenagers behave, so again: don’t blame Aruba for that!  Don’t misunderstand me, it is a very sad case!, which affected us all in Aruba very deeply, after all, in all the years of millions of tourists coming to our island this was a first for us! We are an island of very hospitable peace-loving people, which millions of your countrymen, among them many repeat guests, can affirm, if you only let them!... so don’t put blame on us for something that could have happened anywhere to anyone !.Do you know, that in spite of all the negative publicity about Aruba from your country, the people in Aruba have made a generous effort to collect money (already more than $40.000, which for a small country like ours is, don't you think, a substantial amount!) for the disaster in New Orleans?!, something which can't be said of the US when we had a natural disaster last year in our small country!  And again, I applaud you for assisting Beth in finding the truth about a mothers worst nightmare, and I wish you the greatest success in doing so, but please, do so with an open and fair mind!!

Trynke de l’Isle,

Just a concerned Aruban citizen, who by the way, just to let you know, doesn’t know any of the people involved in this case.

So just because crimes that happen in the US that do not get resolved, should mean that it happened in Aruba so "Just forget about it"    Believe me,  every person who could get away with such a crime .... Here in the USA or out of the USA  deseves a life of HELL!  and I for one hope they get it.

I AM SO SICK OF HEARING SPOILED AMERICANS......

WERE ALL HUMANS....HERE OR THERE.......WE ALL BLEED...WE ALL HURT.   IT DOESN'T MATTER WHERE YOU WERE BORN.  NO PERSON SHOULD EVER GO THROUGH WHAT NATALEE WENT THROUGH UP TO HER DISSAPEARANCE.   NOBODY SHOULD GO THROUGH THAT FOR SOMEONE ELSES SEXUAL PLEASURE.  THAT'S SICK.  MY PRAYERS ARE FOR ALL VICTIMS OF THIS SICK CRIME.

Bravo!

Quote From: robinkay

It would seem that your long post is saying we shouldn't take this personally - think with your mind and not your heart!  That is what is so great about America - when a mother (Beth) doesn't get fair treatment for her missing daughter (Natalie) from a foreign government, we have people like Dr. Phil that will step up and do what they can to help.  By encouraging American people to boycott Aruba, we turn up the heat - when this hurts their tourism industry, perhaps we will have a better chance of their officials providing justice - which if provided initially, Beth would not have had to seek alternative help to find her daughter.  I applaud Dr. Phil!!!!  Every parent should be able to identify with this horror - many of us have let our daughters travel abroad in their Junior or Senior year - fearful, but wanting them have the experience of travel, seeing the world!   I do take this personally as I know this could be my daughter.  Thank you Dr. Phil for having a heart!

I agree with everything you said.

Thank you so much, Dr Phil, for one of the best of your shows. Judging from the posts here, looks like you struck a nerve, just as you intended. I am still in shock over how this case was bungled, the cover-up, and the sheer hell and cruel treatment Beth and her family suffered, courtesy of the Aruban Government.

What astounds me too, is the insensitivity shown by so many. A perfect example is this flippant comment made by Angelina, Deepak's boss. Angelina says, "What I heard is they all had a big mob attacking them and 'Where's my daughter? La, la, la.' Of course, again ... because the mother's getting, you know, upset. And, um ... And then they told the story about the Holiday Inn. That they dropped her at the Holiday Inn."

Excuse me, 'La, la, la?' Beth's daughter is missing. I am appalled at this intense disregard for the family and what they are going through.

I have seen so much of this lack of sympathy for Natalee's family on the news and from some on this message board. It is sickening. What about what Natalee went through? What about HER pain and the mob that attacked HER, raped her while she slipped in and out of consciousness, lied about it, covered it up, and then have the nerve to be arrogant about it. Do none of these boys have a conscience? How do they live with themselves? How do they sleep at night? It's chilling. It's disgusting.

Beth, my heart goes out to you and your family. I have followed this story from the beginning. What has moved me so much from the start is your strength and determination. Aruba sure didn't know who they were messing with. Never in their wildest dreams did they think you would stand so firm and so strong. They thought they could sweep you under the rug along with the evidence they tried so hard not to collect. Your family gathered around you and helped you make things happen. Caring citizens of the world stand behind you. When I saw how the US Government failed to help Katrina victims and so many died because of their neglect, I told my husband we ought to put the Holloway/Twitty Family in charge of FEMA.

I will continue to pray for you and your family, Beth. We have not forgotten about your beautiful family and about Natalee. I know I never will. I will write to the addresses provided. I will let them know I will never visit Aruba or the Netherlands, will never spend money there, will not buy anything imported from there. I also wrote to a cruise line and let them know, as one of their loyal cruisers, if they ever include a stop in Aruba in their itinerary, I will no longer cruise with them. Those of you that wonder how boycotting Aruba will solve anything? That's all we have! That's our only voice. Aruba has not listened to anything else, including evidence staring them in the face and incriminating, signed statements. So like Dr Phil says, get them in the pocketbook. I can see from the responses and attitudes here already, that just the idea of it, is starting to hit home. So go ahead, keep up with your anti-American posts. You only convince me more and more I would never want to go somewhere so full of venom.

Thanks again, Dr Phil. I feel a bit better knowing you and your vast resources are going to turn up the heat and help Beth and her family find out what happened to their beautiful daughter. Beth ignited an ever burning flame that Aruban officials try unsuccessfully to snuff out over and over again and now we can take comfort that Dr Phil is going to hold the flame to their behinds.

Thanks for reading this long post,

09/15 The Disappearance of Natalee

After reading most of these postings I can't help but wonder: would you all still be so indignant if Natalee had any other nationality but the american?

Sooner or Later we get those who do wrong. You can throw all the open cases in our face . But no cover ups will you find in the USA. We do not hide them they are worked on everyday and will find them and get Justice for the family..  Big Differance between Aruba and USA. Why not work with us instead of against us .You are not safe in your own Country with the type of Law you have now. Get your law informent the things they need such as training and supplies they are only as good as they are trained. Proud American

Ma'am, all I'm doing is pointing out a few facts about the US justice system.  Why would you automatically assume I'm not from the US?

Like I keep saying, it's possible to have a lot of empathy for Natalee and her family and still be realistic about our own system, which is far from perfect.  Not only do we have wrongly convicted people in prison, we have cases like the Ramseys in Boulder that will probably never be solved because the local cops waited too long to call in the feds.  We have pedophiles who shouldn't even be on the streets murdering young kids.  We have celebrity justice, which allows people like OJ to walk around free among us.

I truly don't get why you can't understand this!  It's why we sometimes look so ridiculous to the rest of the world.   I'd be the first to agree this case has been bungled, but the indignance and fingerpointing and mass hysteria and calls for a boycott are downright laughable.

What happened to Natalee could happen anywhere in the world.  And that is that.

I'm so happy that Doc Phil is getting involved with this case.I hope he stays involved as the media has all left Beth and family alone in their quest to find their beloved daughter.

What?!?!   You have to be kidding!

This case has received more media attention than I can ever recall in a missing person case.

There's a point where it almost becomes inappropriate, especially when a foreign government is involved.

And we've long since passed that point, imo.

JORAN'S ON AIR INTERVIEW, DID YOU MISS IT?

It is suprising no one is giving feedback about Joran's on air interview, which aired last night on FOX, and will air the second part on tonight's Current Affair. DID YOU MISS IT? Joran is a compulsive liar and very likely, much worse than that. IMO, sociopath may be a better word. ############################### IMO, IF YOU THOUGHT DEEPAK'S COMMENTS WERE DISTURBING & DISGUSTING, [VIA DR. PHIL], JORAN'S WERE JUST AS BAD IF NOT WORSE. JORAN REMAINED FROM CONVEYING ANY OUNCE OF REMORSE/GUILT - HIS COMMENTS AND REACTIONS ON AIR WERE NOTHING SHORT OF DISTURBING. I HOPE DR. PHIL WILL AIR THAT INTERVIEW ON HIS NEXT SHOW about the NATALEE HOLLOWAY CASE. ################################ IMO, DEEPAK & JORAN HAVE AND CONTINUE TO BELITTLE THEIR VICTIM, NATALEE, AND CONTINUE TO PLACE BLAME ON ANYONE/EVERYONE OTHER THAN THEMSELVES.

Just one little question here: is the guy convected of anything yet???

Answer: no, he is not.

See, you might very well be barking up the wrong tree, while the person

who is responsible for the missing of Natalee is still running free.

By the way: someone stated that hardly any efforts have been made

to find Natalee. That is a silly thing to say, since it is not true. There have

even been F16 planes searching the island to find the girl! And that is just

one of many efforts.
