1 more yellow ribbon

September 11th is a GOOD DAY to establish a message board to discuss ways we can SUPPORT OUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS in the military.

This forum is established for soldiers, their families other compassionate and concerned individuals for both mutual support and to talk about real things folks can do to help.

Will you please join us?

Most Americans agree to support OUR TROOPS. That’s wonderful. But what does hat mean? OUR TROOPS are individuals... every soldier is someone’s son or daughter. As we tie our yellow ribbons, let’s attach names to the sons and daughters collectively know as OUR TROOPS.

FAMILIES are also caught up in the war.

THIS WAR has hit our home. Our son Mike is in the desert. Until he returns safely the light on our patio shines day and night on a large AMERICAN FLAG tied with a YELLOW ribbon. We call it MIKE’S LIGHT. Please light a lamp in your window or keep a porch light on, fly the flag proudly, and tie a yellow ribbon for those in harms way. Post a picture of your tribute here.

What else can we do to support those who are sacrificing because of the war? Everyone can do SOMETHING.

Who do you know that is in-harms-way? Tell us about them. We can do more to support our loved ones. We can make our voice heard here and make their voices heard as well.

When I asked our son what I could do for him, he said, “You speak for me!” Mike said I should tell people that each man and woman in the military has a job to do. They need the support of the American people to get the job done and come home!

Mike’s Mom .

Thanks Kelly! Greetings Folks! This is an (UNEDITED) post from LATE LAST NIGHT on “We don’t have to do this alone anymore!” For those who don’t know --Mike (a.k.a. = T. Sgt. White) is my 38 year old son! Blue<

Mike IS home!

You know what? i really just meant to post that message about Mike. What happened? It was YOU! This board was a real place of SUPPORT for me tonight. You know, we need support for the GOOD times as well as the bad! I know there are folks who care here and I just really needed to write to REAL people tonight. My (off-line) JOURNAL wasn’t enough! I guess sometimes, just like you. I need feedback! Guess I asked for it!

It’s been a long hard, but exciting and much awaited day.

After we arrived at Mike’s squadron the support flight was in formation and loved ones were everywhere. We had seen empty busses drive by, but our daughter-in-law didn’t tell us about what was about to happen. It was simply incredible to see the Mike’s troop JUST APPEAR in the distance as they marched in formation.

THE TROOP --AS ONE WAVE turned and moved toward the filled viewing stands. Marching to the familiar music of the Air Force Song. (Off we go into the wild blue yonder... )

In desert camouflage uniforms the wave looked much like the sand from the very desert they had called home these long months. I really can’t express exactly how I felt just then. But something strange happened to me. I didn’t look for my son. I saw no individual faces as the TROOP came to a halt. I saw only the face of the war and the great personal sacrifice EVERYONE OF US standing there have had to make to support OUR FREEDOM.

The Air Force Base Commander ordered a parade rest. There was silence. He promised to speak for just 60 seconds. Most of what he said can be summed up in two words: THANK YOU! I whispered You are very welcome!

About 60 seconds later, when THE TROOP was finally dismissed, THE WAVE became hundreds of rivers going every which way, flooding the field. I stopped to get a better vantage point for pictures and my family gushed forward into the ocean of people. Again, I was caught up by THIS WAVE, but I was standing on an island alone. I was as if I was just being allowed to observe and take a long moment out.

Soon I found my family and MY MIKE and we all proceeded to go on with our lives. Hugs, kisses, get the bags. Play with the kids. Go to Mike and Charmen’s house. Celebrate with spaghetti and diet soda. Home by 8 pm.

I had no intention to write tonight on any of the boards. I posted “MIKE iS HOME!” where it needed to go; Blue Notes, ^One More Yellow Ribbon^, etc. ... And then... all these posts here. I don’t know why I do that sometimes. It just happens. I guess a writer just HAS TO write! This last post will be seen again elsewhere in a more “polished” version, I’m sure! But thanks for allowing me to post it in ROUGH form here tonight.

This is a very good night. Mike is home!

UPDATE: Looks like I'm here alone!

Hello to ALL OF YOU!

I'm a little too busy --MANY irons in-the-fire! RIGHT NOW I’m doing “MY THING” on some of the SHARED DIARIES and I’m spending more time on the OTHER boards. That’s why you haven’t seen me here much. If you post to me. I will see what you write and reply!

AND --I MAY HAVE TO take a slightly extended trip to MILWAUKEE, WI soon. So if you don’t see me around the “neighborhood,” you know what happened.

My 91 year old mother is not doing well at all. It is an BIG DECISION for me because I need some close doctor’s supervision with my medical issues right now. We have to factor those things into the discussion of SHOULD WE GO to Milwaukee NOW OR WAIT. Mike and I are planning to in early spring. That timing is better after the middle of March.

As you know, Mike just returned from IRAQ two weeks ago! He goes back in August OR BEFORE! Now we have to take this day-by-day. If my mother takes a “turn-for-the-worse” I’ll jump on a plane alone.

ON WITH LIFE!!! It’s always something! ISN’T IT? Never enough time! NEVER enough energy! DECISIONS! CHOICES! I think that’s one of the reasons I post on boards --it forces me to sit down and “RELAX” (???) and think things over. I don’t think well on my feet.

Thanks for your support! Hope to see some of you folks come back and post soon!

Just wanted to share this

This is a ribbon for soldiers fighting in Iraq.

Pass it on to everyone and pray.

SLEEP LAST NIGHT?

Bed a little lumpy...

Toss and turn any...

Wish the heat was higher...

Maybe the a/c wasn't on...

Had to go to the john...

Need a drink of water... ???

Scroll down

Yes... It is like that!

Count your blessings, pray for them,

Talk to your Creator and the next time when...

the other car cuts you off and you must hit the brakes,

or you have to park a little further from Walmart than you want to be,

or you're served slightly warm food at the restaurant,

or you're sitting and cursing the traffic in front of you,

or the shower runs out of hot water,

Think of them...

Protecting your freedom!

Message from Iraq

The proud warriors of Baker Company wanted to do something to pay tribute To our fallen comrades. So since we are part of the only Marine Infantry Battalion left in Iraq the one way that we could think of doing that is By taking a picture of Baker Company saying the way we feel.

It would be awesome if you could find a way to share this with our fellow countrymen.

I was wondering if there was any way to get this into your papers to let the world know that

"WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN" and are proud to serve our country."

Semper Fi 1st Sgt Dave Jobe The attached photo was forwarded from one of the last

U.S. Marine companies in Iraq.

They would like to have it passed to as many people as possible, to let the folks back home know that they remember why they're there and that they remember those who've been lost.

I am so glad that he is home! WOO HOO!

I am terribly sorry that he will be going back and that your

mother is not well. I lost my dad a couple of weeks ago.

It is tough.

My son-in-law is still in Iraq and things are not well with

him and my daughter, very sad :(. They are getting a

divorce after all. I guess the one good thing is, they don't

have kids yet.

Please know that you are in my prayers and thoughts

and that your health and all around you will have peace

and calm.

Hi mjkkas! Good to see you again

Thanks for the Baker Company pictures and the SUPPORT ribbon and the reminder to all of us. We will not forget 9/11! We will not forget the sacrifice that continues to be made by our sons and daughters in the military!

Yes. Mike is home! For now! We had good news, his wife Charmen will NOT be deployed in May! So we can dispense with any concerns about that. For now!

My Mom is still the same. Thank you for mentioning her. I am so sorry you lost your Dad. Was he ill? How old was he? Were you able to be with him? I can’t even imagine how it must have been for you.

That is sad about your daughter and your son-in-law. They barely got started, but the foundation of their marriage was rocky from the start --didn’t you say? The fact that he was deployed to Iraq certainly didn’t help!

Thank you for your kind words and good wishes. The peace and calm sounds GOOD! May I wish the same to you and to your family. Thanks again for checking back here. Looking forward to seeing you again.

A wonderful support system for military families could be developed on these boards if Dr. Phil’s people would get on the bandwagon!

A BRAND NEW BOARD on the Health--Mental Health Message Boards was created the other day because Lead Moderator here on the Message Boards --DrPhilBoard1-- saw a need. THERE IS A NEED for support for our sons and daughters who serve and protect our FREEDOM!

As far as I can tell this board is the only place on drphil.com where military families have a forum. We are NOT going to STAND DOWN here! What can we do to get some attention? This board is lost in News and Current Events Never-Never Land! We should have standing room only here! Getting the word out is the problem! Perhaps I could start “advertising” on other boards again. Somehow I’m reluctant to do that.

I would like to see Dr. Phil establish a REAL MESSAGE BOARD of support for our military! I would love to get involved with a message board like that. Perhaps he should do a show about SUPPORTING OUR MILITARY. I believe we just need to start asking here loudly and often for a SUPPORT MESSAGE BOARD FOR OUR MILITARY AND THEIR FAMILIES! How many military wives watch Dr. Phil? How many frequent the Message Boards? It should be advertised on the home page!

If not --WHY NOT?

Well I guess your mom being the same is better than worse?

I hope that things start to look up for us all.

My dad was 59, I thought he was 65,  He told me he was older

but that is because he wanted to look young I guess, lol!

His heart was too big and he did have other ailments. Just

died too soon, and no I didn't get to be with him. That is what

made me so sad. I want to go spend time with my mom soon.

Marriage and War don't mix too well, I guess.  SO my daughter and

her husband have decided to call it quits. Just tears me apart.

They got married just before he deployed and I think it was

harder than they ever anticipated. Who really knows how hard

marriage is going to be? Then to have this on top of just trying to

learn about each other. I wish it were different, but not for now.

I bet that Charmen and her family are glad she does not have to go.

I wish this could all be over soon.

Take care!!
