1 more yellow ribbon

September 11th is a GOOD DAY to establish a message board to discuss ways we can SUPPORT OUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS in the military.

This forum is established for soldiers, their families other compassionate and concerned individuals for both mutual support and to talk about real things folks can do to help.

Will you please join us?

Most Americans agree to support OUR TROOPS. That’s wonderful. But what does hat mean? OUR TROOPS are individuals... every soldier is someone’s son or daughter. As we tie our yellow ribbons, let’s attach names to the sons and daughters collectively know as OUR TROOPS.

FAMILIES are also caught up in the war.

THIS WAR has hit our home. Our son Mike is in the desert. Until he returns safely the light on our patio shines day and night on a large AMERICAN FLAG tied with a YELLOW ribbon. We call it MIKE’S LIGHT. Please light a lamp in your window or keep a porch light on, fly the flag proudly, and tie a yellow ribbon for those in harms way. Post a picture of your tribute here.

What else can we do to support those who are sacrificing because of the war? Everyone can do SOMETHING.

Who do you know that is in-harms-way? Tell us about them. We can do more to support our loved ones. We can make our voice heard here and make their voices heard as well.

When I asked our son what I could do for him, he said, “You speak for me!” Mike said I should tell people that each man and woman in the military has a job to do. They need the support of the American people to get the job done and come home!

Mike’s Mom .

Mike’s Light

Mike’s Light
Shines Bright
Tonight

The flag beneath it is much too large
The homemade ribbon too bright
The neighbors won’t like it
Oh, what a sight!!!

BUT Mike’s Light
Shines Bright
Tonight

Folks may not want to see it
In their neighborhood
Because it is a symbol
Perhaps misunderstood

Thanks to each of you who are supporting Mike. Thank you for lamps-lit, ribbons-tied and American Flags proudly flying for our son.

As you see
WE are doing all three

Mike’s Light
Shines Bright

HI BLUE

I replied to your wonderful poem on another board and mentioned to you that I am a Canadian and appreciate what all these young men and women are doing, and I have put a light in my kitchen window (for Mike and others) and will keep it there until everyone comes home.  My prayers and thoughts are with all these young men and women.  Hugs, Shirley

GOOD EVENING MIKE'S MUM...

I Just want to say that this is a wonderful thing that you and other's in your country are doing for your men and women in your Defence Forces.

I am a Army Wife and live in Sydney Australia. My hubby Mark isn't overseas right now thank goodness, but he has been in the Australian Army for nearly 19 years and in that time he has done a hell of alot to help look after the likes of the weapons and things as his job is as a Fitter/Armer but also he has other trades as well which help him each and every day.

I am so very proud of the job that Mark does but also so very proud of all our Men and Women of the Australian Defence Force, that is the Army, Navy and Air Force.

I wish your son and everyone else that is overseas right now only the best and I will say a pray in hope that they will all be safe and that they will get home to where they all belong sooner than later.

TAKE CARE and GOD BLESS, LOVE KELLY.

Mike's light is shining bright for him and all the men and women of the armed forces. I appreciate and support the cause and fight for freedom and justice for all.

May they do the job that has to be done and come back home safely.

How's things with you? Hope all is well with you and your son. By the way, do you get to hear from him much? If so, next time you're talking to him or writing to him please pass on our very best to him and we wish him to stay safe while he is there.

Well, Mark and I have been married 14 years on the 6th of October this year. And in that time that we have been married, we have moved now 5 times. Have been here there and everywhere really.

I don't mind Mark being in the Army, well he was doing this job well before he knew me. As I said before Mark hasn't been overseas as of yet, but I know that it could happen at any time and that does worry me abit. Especially if he was to go to the likes of Iraq. He has been offered to go to the Sinai last year but that didn't happen. It was only going to be for afew weeks.

Mark would like to get overseas sometime  as alot of his peers that have been in the Army less time than him have already been overseas afew times. So, Mark would just like to go somewhere overseas so that he can have that experience behind him if you can understand what I mean by that.

We do have one child, Stephanie she is 3 years old and is such a joy to us both. Since she was born Mark has been away quite afew times on Course's and Army Exercises. So, I think she is quite use to him not being here, although I don't think she fully understands why Daddy is sometimes here and sometimes not. When Mark is away she never really asks where is Daddy?

Well I will leave it at this for now, but next time i get on here I can always tell you more. Till then Please TAKE CARE and God bless Mike and everyone else out there. LOVE KELLY.

Thanks for the reply. As you see by my last post, I’m having tech trouble. That’s why I haven’t replied before. Hope things are fixed by tomorrow, Meantime I must just post without being able to preview, so forgive my mistakes please.

Mike has some limited computer access, We have gotten 3 e-mails and have been able to get e-mail to him too. He can call his wife occasionally. We just missed him there this morning. RATS!!! I told his wife about you and will tell Mike too. (OPPS! sounds like Blue’s stuff!)

Give our greetings --from UP here and WAY ACROSS the sea-- to Mark and say Hi to your sweet little Stephanie. It’s so mice to hear about your family. Hope you will find support and friendship at this place. We appreciate the time and effort it takes to participate and trust that you will continue with us here.

Thank you Kelly!
