1 more yellow ribbon

September 11th is a GOOD DAY to establish a message board to discuss ways we can SUPPORT OUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS in the military.

This forum is established for soldiers, their families other compassionate and concerned individuals for both mutual support and to talk about real things folks can do to help.

Will you please join us?

Most Americans agree to support OUR TROOPS. That’s wonderful. But what does hat mean? OUR TROOPS are individuals... every soldier is someone’s son or daughter. As we tie our yellow ribbons, let’s attach names to the sons and daughters collectively know as OUR TROOPS.

FAMILIES are also caught up in the war.

THIS WAR has hit our home. Our son Mike is in the desert. Until he returns safely the light on our patio shines day and night on a large AMERICAN FLAG tied with a YELLOW ribbon. We call it MIKE’S LIGHT. Please light a lamp in your window or keep a porch light on, fly the flag proudly, and tie a yellow ribbon for those in harms way. Post a picture of your tribute here.

What else can we do to support those who are sacrificing because of the war? Everyone can do SOMETHING.

Who do you know that is in-harms-way? Tell us about them. We can do more to support our loved ones. We can make our voice heard here and make their voices heard as well.

When I asked our son what I could do for him, he said, “You speak for me!” Mike said I should tell people that each man and woman in the military has a job to do. They need the support of the American people to get the job done and come home!

Mike’s Mom .

Speaking of the SEA....

Welcome in the HIGH TIDE!
Folks meet YYC

An ocean of a message
washed silently ashore
A post from yesyoucan
and you see what it was for?

We missed the date
and time you set
Blue is seldom silent
as you can bet
The gesture is noble
but there IS --NO PEACE-- YET!
Until that time
please don’t forget...

Men and women who are in-service-to-our-country have a job to do and need our FULL support to do it.

Our soldiers have a job to do
And FAMILIES
So do we!

Let’s join in SUPPORT for
Our sons and daughters
FREEDOM
IS NOT FREE!

GOOD MORNING KATHY/"MIKE'S MUM"...

Quote From: red_white

Thanks for the reply. As you see by my last post, Im having tech trouble. Thats why I havent replied before. Hope things are fixed by tomorrow, Meantime I must just post without being able to preview, so forgive my mistakes please.

Mike has some limited computer access, We have gotten 3 e-mails and have been able to get e-mail to him too. He can call his wife occasionally. We just missed him there this morning. RATS!!! I told his wife about you and will tell Mike too. (OPPS! sounds like Blues stuff!)

Give our greetings --from UP here and WAY ACROSS the sea-- to Mark and say Hi to your sweet little Stephanie. Its so mice to hear about your family. Hope you will find support and friendship at this place. We appreciate the time and effort it takes to participate and trust that you will continue with us here.

Thank you Kelly!

Kathy (240+/180/160)

Was good to hear from you again. Hope things are going fine for your family and for Mike as well.

It's good to know that these days Mike is only an email away. It's got to be so much better than just getting the odd letter from him that would have taken nearly month to arrive home!!

Thanks for telling your daughter-in-law about me that was so kind of you. If she wants to keep in touch with me via the net my email address is: vk2itp@yahoo.com.au you can also keep in touch with me that way too if you would like to, that is.

No worries about me coming here to talk as I have been coming to the DP boards for afew years now and just love the friendships that I have made over the years. I normally go on the "Is This Normal Social Disscussion?" board. The people there great and very supportive to me.

Stephanie is doing well, and is having her afternoon nap right now. She has been asleep since about 4pm and it is now 5:38pm so I will have to wake her up soon as I don't like her sleeping too long in the afternoon cause she normally is wide awake when we put her to bed at night.

Well until next time we talk, please TAKE CARE and when you are talking to Mike please say hi to him from Mark and I. Hope to hear from you again soon. LOVE KELLY.

Gooday (sp?) Stephanie’s Mum = Kelly

Before I begin my OVERDUE REPLY, let me explain my delay. I juggling too many hot irons-in-the-fire just now. I’m having technical type trouble with posting to “my boards” as I have explained. This problem continues to frustrate me by using up my already limited on-line time.

Also my priorities are a bit crossed-up right now for a variety of reasons --all of which don’t add up to an excuse for not acknowledging a wonderful post like yours! Please forgive the delay. i will do better in the future. I know how it feels to wait too long for a reply. I’m sorry!

I have popped over to ‘”... Social Discussion” several times but have never posted there. I imagine you found *1 More Yellow Ribbon* because we live on the same "block!” Thanks neighbor! Are there any more at home like you? One of the next things I’m planning to do now that this board is up and running is to start getting the word out by way of invitation and referral. Of course I would appreciate anything the folks here can do in that regard.

You are so blessed with your little Stephanie! We have very little PINK in our family. I have: no sisters; no daughters; 9 1/2 grandchildren (#7 was the 1st girl! #1/2 is our 16 year old “step” grand) That’s right 8 GRANDSONS! Age 17 to 2. I have never had a mother-in-law, married 40 years --husband’s mother died when he was 6. I have 3 grown sons and 5 lovely daughters-in-law !!! Figure that one out! (3 present --2 former) Know what? One of them is named STEPHANIE!

I know you and Mark are proud of your little girl and your family. I’m proud of you too. Always remember the “BOY” you fell-in-love-with and the MAN who is your parenting partner and your relationship will withstand most anything! I believe that having a child is THE MOST important thing a person can ever do! It is our connection with GOD and CREATION. It is forever! We will always be Mom or Dad to our sons and daughters.

Greeting to your daughter Stephanie and Daddy Mark.

Hope to talk to you again soon.

Good to hear from you,  I know that when you have the time you will write so don't go worrying about all that.

And next time you go for a look at the Social Discussion please stop in say hi, you will be welcomed with open arm's as the girls there are just so lovely and open.

Yes we know only too well that God has blessed us with Stephanie as we never thought that we would ever be able to have any children. Due to Mark having a Zero Sperm Count and being told many years ago that it was highly unlikely that he'd ever be able to father any children.

So, when the day came that we were told that we were pregnant well you can understand that we were in total shock to say the least. Yes, Stephanie is a Beautiful Gift from God.

Wow, you do need some pink in your family don't you?! Anyone having any more babies in your family? Or are they all finished with having babie's?

Oh yes, I am very proud of my man Mark, he is the best thing that has happened to me, other than Stephanie of Course!! I think that with us each year that we have been married our love just grows deeper and deeper. And we just have to look at Stephanie and then at each other and fall in love over and over again. I know this may sound abit corny but what the heck!! I love that Man of mine so much.

Oh and getting back to Stephanie, Mark and I just love it when she calls for us. There's something about those two words, "Mummy and Daddy." Especially when Stephanie says them.

Well I hope all is well with you, Mike and your dear family. Please TAKE CARE and God Bless you all. LOVE KELLY/"STEPHANIE'S MUMMY."

supporting our troops

To all here,

Hello! It's so nice to find a board specifically designed to support our troops!  This Sunday there will be a demonstration in DC on the National mall near the air and space museum on 4ht street to show support for our troops. as you know cindy sheehan and her anti war anti US organizers will be there on saturday .. So Organizers have put together a demonstration on Sunday to counter her

and show the world that there is a large amount of people who support our troops and what they are risking their lives to accomplish.

from the organizers...

This rally is being held to honor military families, their loved ones serving in our armed forces and their mission fighting the war on terrorism in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere around the world. Military family members and those who support them are encouraged to attend to show the nation and the world that they stand firm in their resolve to win the war on terrorism. Speakers will include Gold Star parents, family members of service men and women, veterans and Iraqi citizens. Current and former Members of Congress are being invited to speak. The program for the rally will be regularly updated.

*1 More Yellow Ribbon*

We were able to talk to Mike on the phone for the first time today! (09/24/05) He said things were going well and we chatted for the full 15 minuets he was allowed.

He had called home to speak to his wife but we were there with the kids while she was out shopping. It wasn't good he missed her, but It was great we finally heard his voice after almost a month!.

Mike was concerned because the last time he had talked to his wife she had heard some disconcerting “background noise!” SHELLS? GUNS? Some kind of WAR noises! Something had happenend on his side of the world... I didn’t want the details...This REALITY is a bit much for all of us! But it is Mike’s day-to-day experience. Much of which he doesn’t share.

Anyway, we talked about a lot of things: the family; his job; “the bad guys,” (as he calls them); and especially, as usual, the young troops he is in charge of. He said the all the guys really appreciate the calls home, e-mail and such --but miss most, REAL PHYSICAL MAIL. So we are mailing something to him this week and a package by the first of October. His wife sent a package earlier this week.

But there are guys there who don’t receive mail. That shouldn’t be happening! When we make sure that it won’t cause a problem, we will start to post addresses for folks who might want to send mail to “Mike’s guys” in Kirkuk, Iraq.

There is something we all can do! We could at least take the time to send one letter to one of our folks who serve and protect. You write the letter! I’ll post the address. You post some addresses too! If you have information that is safe to post along this line, please do so!

There is a huge effort being put forth by the people who are protesting this war calling for peace and an end to the fighting. The reality is that we are there and we MUST finish the job to SECURE peace! We MUST SUPPORT OF OUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS as they do this most difficult and dangerous job!

Went over to Social Discussion and posted an invitation but haven’t gotten back there yet. I am stealing sleep to write on my boards most nights and don’t do well posting with my eyes closed! I’m hoping I will get my priorities more in line soon. Mike has been gone almost a month! There are always too few hours in the day! Hope I’ll have more time to talk later.

So long for now.

Good to hear from you and great to hear that you finally got to speak to Mike. Yes it was ashame that his wife wasn't there to talk to him. I can understand that both Mike and his wife would have been quite upset about that. Oh well there's nothing that can be done about that.

By the way, would you have an email address that Mark and I could write to Mike, as I know that maybe Mark might have some words to write to Mike to help him know that the guys and girls here in Australia know abit of what Mike and all the other's over there are going through.

It was great to see you over at the other board, please do come back. Being the weekend on your side of the planet things are very quiet but if you try going back there during the week I'm sure there will be more people there to talk to.

Well you and yours TAKE CARE, LOVE KELLY.
