I'm going to try once again.  My goal is to lose 60-80# by my birthday in 2006.  I am 43, a Mom and farmer in the boonies.  No gyms, no support.  Let's help each other!

In the same boat

Quote From: agancarcik

Hi ! I am in Ashwaubenon,Wisconsin. It is a village in Green Bay. I too have been off and on with the weight loss.  Part of my problem is trying to fit exercise into a day.  Plus with having PCOS , the weight doesn't like to leave real easily. Would love to have some buddies.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Ann

You and I are in the same boat.  I have a hard time fitting in exercising.  My mother in law talked me into joining Curves and I love going, but with a husband with lots of meetings at night and no one to watch the kids I find it hard to go.  I don't beleive in dieting, just watching what I eat.  The days that I didn't go to Curves I would try to do a walking tape, but I started a new job and to do the tape I would have to get up at 5:30 am and I have tried but it is awfully hard to do.  I don't live in Wisconsin, but I used to.  In fact I grew up in Green Bay and have been in Ashwaubenon lots of times.  We were just home for Thanksgiving.  Do you have any kids?  I have two, A girl -8 and a boy -5.  They keep me pretty busy.  I would like to get back on track and ned the help.

Heavy Hodag

Hello,

I am from up north Wisconsin, in Rhinelander. I'm 27 yrs old, and having the hardest time with my weight that I can recall.

I lost 60 lbs, but now I'm stuck. Most of it's emotional. I'm interested in an email buddy because it's someone who understands. I don't have any girlfriends who are in the same boat as  I am.

I was/am/kind of doing weight watchers, which has helped me. I do not go to meetings due to time and money, but I like the point system. It worked for me then, but it's stalled out now.

I know that i can do this! I just need to do a better job of convincing myself.

Even though I do WW, I have read  Dr. Phil's book, which I thought was very well written, specifically on the reasons we eat as much as we do , or what we do.  Right now my problem food is m&m cookies. I even drive to a gas station or store specifically to get them, even if it's out of the way.  At least  I have given up soda..one step at a time! It's easier when we're  on the same path.

My email address is: roosterfoot@yahoo.com

Thanks,

1 Weight Loss Buddy in Wisconsin or email???

Quote From: dubois7

sounds like we could be in the same boat.  I also lost weight and sizes to begin with, then got in a slump.

I lost 30 pounds, and 2 sizes, and my kids also got sick.  I will get back on track, though.

the board I use the most is "We don't have to do this alone" under Weight Loss...

It's a great board and I hope you pop in!

Gotta go tend to my baby.

Michelle

sounds like you could use more than a weight loss buddy, I also live in stevens point, would like to meet some one to be a w.l.b. and a good friend, although my children are grown and I am now a grandma, we can be suport for each other, hope to hear from you. Margret

Reclaiming my body as well.

Quote From: angelhugs7

I made a promise to myself that I need to start watching my body again.  I have let it go.  It's causing problems in my life.  I hope to find support here.

I am new here.

Christine

I had a successful weight loss of 100lbs and kept it off for several years.  I wasn't true to what worked and now have put most of it back on.  I need to loose this weight.  It is causing me health problems now.  I look forward to the mutual support.

I live near Manitowoc and love walking by the lake in the morning.  Since it's winter now walking indoors is more of a struggle.  I'm to embarrassed to join a health club right now-odd isn't it?

Well, hi ladies...

Maybe you aren't all ladies!!  That's fine.

I am from the Madison area.  Just started browsing around the message boards and found one from my neck of the woods!

I have been doing the WLC since the very beginning... Sept. 03, and have lost 37 pounds.  I have been an encourager and WLC (Weight Loss Challenge) promoter on the Dr. Phil message boards for over two years, and I fully understand how hard this is.  But, it IS doable.

Having the 7 keys in my life has made all the difference in the world, and I have made it my life's mission to help others see how it can make a difference in their lives, too.  With the aid of my other WLC buddies, we have been able to help many women on their journey towards better health, more energy, and confidence in themselves that has been lacking for so long.

I am looking forward to getting to know all of you in the coming year, and together we can make this the best journey of your entire lifetime!!

You can do this; I can help.  Here's to your health.

BY THE WAY......

I lived in Wausau for 15 years (have lived here for 15 now, too)... so I know where you Steven's Pointers, Rhinlanders, and Westonites hail from!!

And, I have been a member of Curves for two years.  Great place!  I love the ambiance.. no spandex babes there,  just down-to-earth ladies like you and me who are concerned about their health.

I was glad to read that you all have the book... now is the perfect time to get back to it.

Those of you who have children can use their playtime as exercise times for you, too.  Playing with your kids is a GREAT way to get your heart rate up there, and it's fun, too.  Running after them, playing catch, dancing to their children's music... it all counts.  Exercise does NOT have to be a chore, or something you dread.  You need to find something you enjoy in order for this to work for you.

The Leslie Sansone tapes are wonderful.  And, if you do the 1 mile one, that is only 15 minutes.  You have 15 minutes to spare, don't you?  15 minutes!!  Your kids can do it with you for that long.   If you start with just 15 minutes a few times a week, that wouldn't interfer too much in your life, would it?

How about if you start your new year off by commiting to just 15 quality minutes 3x's a week for the first two or three weeks?  You can do that!!  Yes you can!!

I'll be back.

Sue,

You and I have a lot in common.  I also have been a member of Curves for a year and I love it.  The ladies that work and work out there are great.  The days that I don't get to Curves I also do my Leslie Sansone walking tapes.  I usually do the 2 mile and I love that to.  The only hard part is that I have to do my tape at 5:30am because of my work schedule.  Aslo chasing after my kids.  I read the book and now I'm going to start doing it , it is a new year and it is going to be a new me also. I  do not live in Wisconsin, but I was born and raised in Green Bay.  Now I live in Minnesota.  Hope all is going well

1 Weight Loss Buddy in Wisconsin or email???

Another thing we have in common... I am an early riser, too!!  BUT, instead of work.. I get up at 5:15 to go to Curves.  When the weather is around 20 or above, I will walk there... about a half mile.  That's my "wake-up" time... that fresh air hitting me and all my senses, and walking making those muscles move!!

I work at a local grade school three days a week as a lunchroom/playground supervisor.  I don't have to be there until 11:30 for the lunch hour, so my mornings are my own.  That's when I do other forms of exercise like walking, Leslie Sansone tapes, (2 miles is my favorite, too)and a few others.  I have a mini trampoline and one of those four-pound hula hoops that I use in the evening, along with a three mile walk with hubby and dog --- weather permitting.

I am fortunate that the WLC program came at a later time in my life so I don't have children at home anymore and can use my spare time for myself and to help others along the way.

Thanks for stopping by.

(wow... this is freaky... after I posted this message here on this WIS board, I found I was on First Things First message board and this message posted THERE instead of here!! So, I copied/pasted and put it where it belongs.. computers... trying again.  If it appears on FTF again.. I guess I am giving up, and my apologies to FTF'ers once more!!!!!)

Sue

Sue,

I also work at a grade school.  I was a stay ay home mom until this year.  My son started kindergarten so I took a job as a one on one aid to a second grader with ADHD and Learning Disabilities, I love it and I love being at my kids school.  I wish that my Curves was open earlier.  During the summers I do go at 6 am but during the school year I can't.  Ours doesn't open until 6:oo and that doesn't leave enough time to get ready and get to school on time.  So the walking tape it is, with Curves at night when my husband can watch the kids.  Well I hope that your week goes well.  Tonight my 8 year old daughter  is having a friend sleep over to celebrate News Year Eve.  I have lots of things plannned, and it should be fun.  I just love watching things through my kids eyes.  Have a great News Years Eve.

Live in Wisconsin also

Quote From: dubois7

Well, I'm far, far from Wisconsin, but I also look to the message boards for support.  I am looking to lose another 50 or more pounds.  I started following Dr. Phil's plan Aug. 8th and as of today have lost 24 pounds!  I can hardly believe it, but I am working really hard and sticking to the plan.

I like to post messages on other boards too and find support there.  You might want to read some of the other boards and post on more than one.  I will check in on this board to see if you are still here.

I live in a remote area in Idaho and my main forms of exercise are walking and biking.  I love Leslie Sansone's "Walk Away the Pounds" videos.  They are reasonably priced and easy to follow.  There are no moves to learn and you are really just walking inside.  They are great when the weather doesn't cooperate and since I have small children, I can do them whenever.

I hope you find support and success with your weight loss!  I just remind myself that I am changing my life, not just my weight.

Healthy living--Michelle in Idaho

Hello Everybody. I live in La Crosse. I have gone threw alot this past year. My mother dieing, being pregnant and losing the twins, not too long after that my fiance and I broke up. Just an up and down roller coaster ride. I finally took a long hard look at myself and realized that I am fooling myself into believing that I am happy with the way I look. I realized that I was so fixed upon the fact of being fat that I let it put a wedge between me and my fiance. I never thought I could love anyone else more than him and now I realize that I need and want to love me more and if I don't love myself or happy with myself, how could I expect anyone else to be happy or love me? Anyway, two weeks ago, I took a long hard look in the mirror and just broke down, I hated the way I looked and decided to do something about it. I changed the way I eat and I workout 30-45 minutes everyday. I do the treadmil, stationary bike (because it is too darn cold to ride the regular bike right now) and I do the "Walk away the pounds", at least that is what I think it is called. Since starting this 2 weeks ago, I have lost 10 lbs and a 1/2" off of my hips. Yes when I started this I measured every possible thing on my body, just so I could monitor the inches. I am glad I have this board to come too now. Good luck to all.
