It's Ask Dr. Phil day and the doctor is in! The sky's the limit as Dr. Phil answers anything and everything -- including some questions with adult content! Melissa and Larry have been debating for years about what exactly constitutes oral sex. What they do agree on is that it's ruined their sex life and they're ready to put it to rest once and for all. Then, at just five feet tall and 100 pounds, this model says she's too petite for her dreams to come true and feels short-changed. Hear what she has to say about overweight people who win prizes for losing weight! Next, can you love your animals too much? Ken says his girlfriend treats her dogs like they're her children, but is he just jealous?  Join the discussion.

Cute is a compliment

Hi

I am short and my boyfriend is 6'2, some people joke, but thats all it is. Sometimes it can be annoying, but sometimes you just have to lighten up.

I do have to agree though about the size 0 issues.  I am also petit and have a LOT of trouble finding clothes!  I was looking for a suit to present my thesis, I had to go to the most expensive store to be able to find anything that fit! It is hard espically on a students budget!

WHO ELSE WAS COMPLETELY DISGUSTED AND FRUSTRATED BY THE SHORT COMPLAINER?

well I can say I that I have never been more frustrated by another Dr. Phil guest as I was by this woman. She should walk a day in MY shoes, when going shopping for a simple pair of jeans brings me to tears because I cant find anything to fit me...when I get treated badly and given looks of disgust by people because of my wieght. And let me just say that not ALL people are overweight due to compulsive eating. People are not overweight because they sit in front of the tv and stuff their face with chips...some people have health problems or psycological problems where they substitute food for comfort or whatever. I agree with whoever on this message board who said this woman just went on Dr. Phil because she thought he would give her some kind of prize for being short...hahaha! Was she wrong!! I just thought it was funny that Dr. Phil gave her a very detailed explanation of the reasons behind rewarding people for loosing weight and she STILL didn't get it! WHAT AN IDIOT! Maybe she should focus more on enlightening herself on the struggles of being overweight and stop persuing a modeling career...cause she's really NOT that pretty. I hope one day she becomes overweight and can feel what its like...what goes around comes around, and it definately will for her.

I've seen this young woman on another show..don't know what it was. She's nuts. Over the top about her height. Dr. Phil was right, she needs to accept herself.

MY FEET REACH THE FLOOR!!!!

Ok so being short does have its disadvantages! I'm 5 feet nothing and maybe 90 lbs. As a school teacher (elementary) I constantly hear "Hey I'm almost as tall as you!" I also hear it from my 11 year old nephew. Finding clothes is difficult at best. Even petite sizes seem to be made for the jolly green giant! But I tell them Hey My fee reach the floor!! Most people are just joking around and that does get old. But there are some who can be rude or even mean about it! For these people I say this is the way God made me and if they don't like it they can take it up with Him! It can be frustrating but the way I see it is that I can shop in the girls dept and they are cheaper!  The only diet I'll ever go on is a see food diet I see food and eat it! Not many people can say that!

short stuff

Ok miss short stuff....what a nasty attitude.  I have never seen anyone act so rude in my life.  Miss Melissa needs to get over her poor pitiful problem of being short and look at her many blessings in life.  She says she is tired of being judged for being short but yet she generalizes ALL overweight people like they have something to do with her being short.  I am so glad Dr Phil didnt reward her behavior in any way because she didnt deserve the air time on his show in my opinion.  I am just so shocked that someone would get on national tv and complain about being short and then insult overweight people....has she seen what the people on the gulf coast are going through right now???   What a selfish woman.......if i had just seen her on the street i would have thought she was a beautiful woman but she had to get on tv and open her mouth and speak...shame on you Melissa!!!!!

You know its not really fair to bash on all sorts of other people just because your not happy with the fact that your short. And the whole modeling thing hey guess what get over it. its not easy to make it in the modeling world even if you are tall trust me I know Im 5'9 and work in the Chicago market thats why theres jobs and requirements for certain jobs why dont you find something that is more accepting and loving to short women and the such. Its like saying well why cant I be a doctor just because I cant get into med school... well sorry hun you dont have the req. for the job stick with what you can do

Disgusted, too

Quote From: mbeth6565

I don't have pets and I don't want them. It disgusts me when I am at someones house and the animal excrement and pee and smells make the home their pet box and not the human's home. YUK>
People who allow their pets to walk on the kitchen counters, tables, sofas, beds, chairs, will know better than to invite me back.  I tell them that I am allergic and refuse those invitations FOREVER.  Do they not know that their pets sit on their rectums?  "STUFF" transfers onto everything it touches.......pets belong OUT OF DOORS.

I am short too 4'8

I think that the short gal is focusing on the wrong issue. She is bitter because is short and can't be a model and doesn't like to be called cute and all that.  And mad as well for obese people getting rewards by Dr. Pil.  I can relate in some manner but I think she is far too bitter and really didn't get across her point.  Not sure what it really was but here is mine on being short.......

..... Being short is a hinderance.  My pant loops get stuck on cabinet knobs, I can't reach most things, jeans are very difficult to find.. ( thank goodness for capri's as their length is good for me ! ) and I get knocked in the face by elbows, if I am in a crowd,  as well as a host of other problems.

For me it isn't all of that.  It is the reality and nothing I can do about it.  And it IS annoying.  What I get angry at is the constant.. " Gosh you are SOOO short...  I thought I was short till I met you.  You make ME feel better cuz you are shorter ".  To Everyone out there...  that is just RUDE.  You would never..  I hope,  go up to a person with a big nose or heavy person and say... " I thought I was fat till I saw you..."  That is just mean.  It is equally NOT acceptable to do it to short people with the fallacy notion that it is ok beause we are supposedly more accepatable than an obese person. I had a gal walk up to me in a bar... seeking me out specifially to comment about how short I was and that her and her parents were looking at me and noticing it.

Please,  anyone write me back and tell me that was ok to do......

What is worse is when I am made fun of in front of children, most of whom are getting taller than I am. That shows their children it is ok to make fun of people.  I am an adult at 43 and do not need to be insulted by 10 year olds that are being goaded on by their parents.

I have begun to lose my patience for all of the above.  I gaurantee that if I were to fling a comment back to anyone else they would get mad and say I am too sensitive.  Or if I just went up to someone and made a comment on their drinking and beating their wife, or how fat they are or ugly I'd be called a b----.

Those issues above in my opinion are the problems.  Not whether I can be a NFL linebacker. ( I'd rather be a wide reciever....hee hee )   People just need to stop being so tactless.

I am not angry.  I am just asking for people to use a little tact and common sense.  Think about your children and how you want them to be treated and think about what you say to me.  Children learn this all from what they see.  And by the way..  I have no children and know that making fun of others in front of children is not good roll modeling.

Short isn't the issue..... it is tact and human kindness for those that are different than the avg person......

Grow Up Already!!!

What is wrong with this girl and her dogs.  How old is she?????  She is acting like a child and she definitely has issues with real relationships.  Why would this guy Ken put up with her crap for two years?  He seems like a level-headed, decent guy.  Don't get me wrong.  I love animals and grew

up on a farm with lots of pets.......indoor and outdoor pets.  My animals are very important and are

considered part of the family, in my circle of friends.  Of course, I put my pet's welfare first, but not

to the exclusion of a social life or a significant other.  I would never get rid of my pets for anyone,

however, I would do my absolute best to find a suitable compromise, if necessary.  Of course, I would also never get involved with someone, friend or relationship, who didn't at least like animals.

I don't trust people who "hate" any animal.  We are all God's creatures and yes, there is a pecking order, yet we all need to respect all forms of life on this planet.  This girl needs to get a life....and some seriously counseling.

Being short is no big deal

I am almost five feet tall and weight 120 lbs. So I am definitely not a size zero like Melissa.

One very small part of me could relate to her because I have known what it is like to not be taken seriously due to my height and the fact that I look young. I am 37. A few months ago, a co-worker of mine asked me how old I was and I told her. She then told me that when she first saw me across the room at a staff meeting some months ago, she turned to another coworker to ask, "Who brought their child to a staff meeting?"

Naturally, I wasn't thrilled with hearing this but I've heard it before and I'm sure I'll hear it again. Being in my mid 30s, it is now a blessing to be considered youthful looking. I've heard the "I can't believe you are (insert age here)! You look so young!". But more times than not, the person will follow up with, "But when you opened your mouth and began to talk, I knew you had to be much older."

However, I have never been angry at overweight people that get rewarded for reaching a difficult weight loss goal. Why be angry at people who already struggle? Being short does have disadvantages, but it has never stopped me from doing what I wanted. I have struggled to stay at a decent weight since my 20s so I can truly relate to how hard it is to take it off and keep it off.

No, she's never going to get the jobs Tyra Banks or a taller model will get. But there are niche markets just for shorter women like us that would love to have her modeling for them. And she could do very well in televison. Plenty of shorter women there. Just look at Susan Lucci, I think she's only five foot three. You take what you have and make the most of it.

And yeah, I have to get a chair to reach the high cabinets. Or ask someone to reach something for me at the grocery store. That's often pretty humorous. But at least I have two legs that get me where I need to go. And a mind that works. Two eyes that can see. I am really very blessed. I hope Melissa will see that she is blessed as well.

help me cuz i'm socially acceptable and petite? Shes hungry for attention...

i thought the wanna be model was totally stuck up, rude, & boasting about her petiteness by putting others down.  I am petite also but I would never compare myself trying to gain weight to an overweight person attempting to lose weight.  Why should anyone receive a prize for being thin?  That is socially acceptable and she knows that.  She is obviously insecure about herself so she puts the attention on other people by saying "LOOK AT ME!  IM PETITE AND I CANT HELP IT."  She probably went on Dr. Phil to get some attention and was hoping she could become the shortest runway model.  With that attittude, shes lucky if she even gets a nice post.
