Dr. Phil and his guests strike up heated conversations as they debate the latest hot topics. Should women give up their right to breastfeed their babies in public so other people don't feel uncomfortable? Will passing out condoms in schools prevent unwanted pregnancies or just send the message to kids that it's OK to have sex? And, is it acceptable for others to discipline your kids if they see them acting out in public, or should they just mind their own business? Dr. Phil weighs in on these controversial subjects. Share your thoughts, join the discussion.

What about this...

I believe that moms should be albe to breastfeed their children in publice AS LONG AS THEY ARE COVERED. I have been in many places including church and have seen women not cover up and it is very unclmfortable to me. My reason is not just that I don't want to see their breast but what about our husbands, grandfathers and young boys (that are going thru puberty and are very excitable at even the thought of a breast).? Do they derserve to see the breast. They all know what it is for under the breastfeeding factor but as we have read in many articles men think about sex most of the time, what do you think that they are thinking of, seeing, etc...when they see a woman pop out her breast to feed her child and not be covered.

Just another spin on things...

BREAST FEEDING

I am a mother of THREE wonderful children. Two of the three were breastfed.  I think that if a child is hungry  he/she should be fed. It should not matter if it is from a bottle or a breast. I get REALLY OFFENDED by some of the clothes some people wear. You can see MOST if not ALL of their breast, butts and pubic HAIR. I say if you are a breastfeeding mother and anyone has a problem with you feeding your child tell them to have a HUNGRY CHILD SCREAMING IN THEIR FACE AND SEE HOW THEY FEEL ABOUT IT. They will like the quiet sounds of that child nursing then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Breast feeding in public

I am have two sons, both were breast fed babies.  The comment given on the show airing 10/7/05, that it is a natural and therefore there is nothing wrong with breast feeding in public (in your face style) is an outrageous argument.  Making love is also a natural act, however it should not be appropriate to publicly display love making either.  I feel that breast feeding is a wonderful experience, but it does not need to be shared with the world.  You can work around feeding your child and being in the public world.

Breastfeeding in Public

I am a mother of 3 children although I did not breastfeed my children I do not have a problem with other people breastfeeding their children in public. These babies have to eat like the rest of us and if their mom is out she should feed her child. It is not like she is "walking around with her breast out" she is feeding her child. Totally natural to do! I am fine with it. I think those who do care are maybe self conscious about their own anatomy.

Breast feeding and nudity in general

33 States have passed laws allowing women to breast feed in public. I am totally astonished with the US obsession about nudity. It is natural and if I remember correctly  it  is something that the Almighty gave us. All we ever hear about from the do gooders is that nudity is "dirty". I really think they are totally screwed up in the mind.  How come no one ever complains about all the violence in movies or on TV but let some one show a breast or their butt and all hell breaks loose.  When my children were growing up I would rather have had them walk in on or catch a quick glimpse of a movie where someone was making love then have them walk in or see one being shot or some other sort of violence.

Respect others opinions on breast feeding

I am a 27 year old woman who will not be able to breast feed because I had a chest wall reconstruction 2 years ago (no it was not a boob job, but because my chest fell on top of my heart).  I think some of you breast feeders are just as judgmental as the non-breast feeders.  Do you realize that not all woman can breast feed and that they get sick and tired of hearing of how non-breastfeeders are depriving their children of nutrition and bonding experiences?  I do not believe that because I am unable to breast feed that my child is not going to bond to me or that my child is not going to be healthy.  I believe that women have the right to decide whether or not to breast feed.  No one should force their opinion upon anyone, or make anyone feel guilty about their decision.  If a mother wants to formula feed that is just fine and I have yet to hear a story of a baby dying because they were bottle fed.  Until you have walked in another persons shoes, keep your judgements to yourself.

Say no to Breast feeding

I have to say that I am disgusted by a woman breast feeding in public it makes me physically ill!  I don't care if it is natural it doesn't have to be in my face!  I have a very close friend that breast feed her son and she didn't do it in front of me, nor did she do it in public without being covered!  I see no reason that just because you made a personal decision to breast feed that the decision needs to be made for me to watch!  Have a little self control and common courtesy for others.  I don't want to see that any more than I want to walk into a restaurant and deal with second hand smoke.  You've made your choice and mine is to not be disgusted while I'm eating.

10/07 The Latest Debates

I don't understand what the big deal is.  I've seen more exposed skin and breast on women wearing skimpy tank tops than I've seen of women who breastfeed.  The baby's head pretty much covers everything up.  The only time you might actually see a little too much is the fraction of a second when a baby is going on or off the breast.  If that offends you, look away.  Blink, you'll miss it.  Shelly, the women on the show who finds breastfeeding so offensive, should take her dinner to the bathroom.  A baby has a legal right to eat anywhere he/she is allowed to be.

Breastfeeding in public

I have a two year old. I breastfed him for 6 months. When I went to the mall I would always go to the bathroom or changing rooms. It was very uncomfortable for me to feed him while sitting on the toilet. In one store, they had a sitting area as soon as you walk in with a couple of chairs. This was wonderful. One day I was feeding my baby, I had a blanket over him, so no one could see. I had this one lady give me a terrible look. I told her to take a picture! I was doing nothing wrong! More places should have areas so women could breastfeed.

Breastfeeding is wonderful for the child and mother. I do understand breastfeeding is not for everyone. I don't see the difference on what some people watch on TV and then get insulted by a natural thing.

so where do you go to eat while watching naked people? Nude beaches? I can't think of anywhere else you'd find them.

Nursing mothers are not naked.  Women in low cut shirts and skirts that barely cover their butts are closer to it. now THAT is disgusting.

Nursing mothers ARE naked if their breasts are exposed!!!
