(Original Air Date: 10/19/05) Sexual orientation used to be something kept hidden from family and co-workers, but now more and more people are "coming out" and finding acceptance. Anjela says her mother and sister don't support her sexual orientation, and feel she can't be Christian and gay at the same time. Can they reconcile this touchy issue? Then, two men debate whether a person can go from gay to straight, and parents of a 4-year-old boy fear their son's desire to play with dolls and wear heels means he'll grow up to be gay. Are they overreacting to his wishes to be a princess instead of a prince? Talk about gender and gay issues here.

06/06 "I'm Gay, OK?"

Quote From: xoxo06

I don't think she was saying adultery and porn were linked to homosexuality.

I think it does have a little something to do with the issue you stated above. All of the reasons provided on why some feel a heterosexual relationship is inadequate is because there is a lack of stimulation and so on. It is more of a do-me-now-cuz-it-feels-good issue.

This isn't purely about sexual relief. It's about partnering and companionship and making a family. Most homosexuals will tell you that those things are also not fulfilled in a heterosexual relationship.

Mark 6:6-11

And He marvelled because of their unbelief. And He went round about the villages, teaching.

And He called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;

And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:

But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.

And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.

And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

Sheesh!  Only in your imagination.  Is YOUR marriage about do-me-now-cuz-it-feels-good .??

I've been married 22 years, with him 28 years and it hasn't been do-me-now-cuz-it-feels-good since we were teens.  How old are you?

I hate homophoebic people

Quote From: judyblue22

Wow-you did a beautiful Christian job here. You chose your words so carefully.  You are saying what I have tried to say...but in words all people can hear.

Homophoebic people need to get a life.  They are no better than racists or sexists.

If you want to know what the bible really condones it is interest and usury.  You know, getting charged ridiculous amounts of interest that you aren't even told about at the time of boring money and that is hidden in small print.   If people took up a fight against this it would actually be to their benefit.   Instead all these people are off wasting their time being mean to people that are born (yes born!) different from them.

I'm gay, ok?

I really have to take issue with that priest who proclaimed a gay person can change "if he or she prays hard enough" I'm here to say it is not a choice ! And I'm outraged at the presumption that the young man who asserted he tried, just didn't try hard enough. How dare he!  I really hope he didn't become a priest to avoid the issue by not having  to deal with it by living in the real world. Now anyone who doesn' have their head in the sand and who hears the news, knows that thoughts of sex do indeed plague priests.  After all he's a man and that's the way God made them. Is it right to squelch what God gave us to procreate? Now, as for the ones who "have changed " are what we call bi-sexual, sexually attracted to both sexes. I know this because I am one ! I have been married to four men and attracted to all, and "married " to two women, equally attracted. It totally depends on who knows what qualities that attract.  A heterosexual man or woman, formally gay may go for years quite happy, but the attraction creeps back when meeitng a certain person who triggers this. This again, I know because, it happened to me. I love my present husband like crazy and am very sexually attracted to him for twenty years. Recently I met a lesbian I'm very attracted to. None knows this but me, and it's going to stay that way. To be continued....

cont. from "gay, ok"

I've heard doctors say this, and I beleive it -that sexual orientation starts on the womb. Now, I personally can't explain how the gender is formed in the fetus, but there are doctors that can. It absolutely explains how very small children think they are born in the wrong body. No amount of counselling will change that. It may be squelched for a time, but most likely will emerge later in life. If I am wrong on this, I hope there are some transgender people out there who will set me straight. Believe me when I say this, sex orientation is not a choice!!  If it were, a lot of young men died in vain, either by suicide or murder. What a travesty!

Gay stereotype

Quote From: purplepain

This is an excellent point. It addresses the predominant gay stereotype of promiscuity. It is also a way to dehumanize same sex couples by ignoring that there could be something else between them beside sex for its own sake. And it is exactly what is implied whenever the term, "gay lifestyle", is used. I can't emphasize that too much. Whenever I hear someone talk about the "gay lifestyle" I know that they are just using an innocent euphemism for irresponsible sexual promiscuity, without having to say what they really mean.

Family Acceptance Best, Not Essential

Obviously the straight sister has resentment issues as depicted by her combative stance on all issues pertaining to her sisters sexuality. Although, mother and daughters have Christian background, mother and sister have used a minute and archaic scripture from the bible as to attack their loved ones sexuality and justify their hardliner stance as gospel. Their are just as many scriptures to contradict their insistence that she ask for forgiveness for her "sins" and agree not to practice her sexuality. Meaning, she give up her life to "god" and never fall in love emotionally, physically, or spiritually. In other words, they believe she is not entitled to lead her life in a "normal" fashion as they have.

The stigma begins with prejudice, hate, and resentment as early as childhood and continues through most of our lives because of a backwards, ultra conservative, oppressive, and third world barbaric government that has legislated legal prejudicial hatred for a segment of society deemed unworthy of equal rights.  Our government and clergy have held Gay and Lesbian people hostage, keeping the nuclear family from growing, healing, and moving on to the many other trials and tribulations in life.

Why must we continue to be chastised for only wanting what the Bush Administration claims to be fighting for, individual freedom. We are second class citizens who pay more taxes for less rights. The black and women movements have gained equality, when will this bassakward country get their laws out of our bedrooms and give all its citizens liberty and justice for all? We are suppose to be the "leader of the free world" yet we are still practicing third world oppressive laws and philosophies.

Only when the government leads by example in lieu of ignorance and fear will our people begin the healing process of decades of oppression, legalized prejudice, and hatred justified by those who call themselves Christians. No loving god would approve of the vehement hatred spewed by those who call themselves Christians.
