(Original Air Date: 10/19/05) Sexual orientation used to be something kept hidden from family and co-workers, but now more and more people are "coming out" and finding acceptance. Anjela says her mother and sister don't support her sexual orientation, and feel she can't be Christian and gay at the same time. Can they reconcile this touchy issue? Then, two men debate whether a person can go from gay to straight, and parents of a 4-year-old boy fear their son's desire to play with dolls and wear heels means he'll grow up to be gay. Are they overreacting to his wishes to be a princess instead of a prince? Talk about gender and gay issues here.

10/19 "I'm Gay, OK?"

Quote From: max_01

I guess I need to clarify.

Spin, as I ment it is to mean my understanding of Jesus'  teachings.

I do not pretend to think that I can ever be on the same level of God, be it He on mine or me on His. Gos and Jesus will always be above me. And I do not pretend to have blind faith.

Because I do not understand God's ways, I find myself questioning and asking for His guidence in understanding Him and His wishes for me. It is up to me to listen.

However, we are off topic.

As a Christian and a gay male, I too live in contradiction to many other Christians.

This is why I say not to place other's sins above your own.

Jesus tought me that much.

 Hey brother.

You can also read the book.  God gave it to us to guide us.  His will can be found there.   I think we can understand God's ways, although never fully.

Religion and Homosexuality

Quote From: pbdavis

why does religion have to play such a large part in this topic. If there is a God do you really think he is so concerned about 2 women sleeping together?  Perhaps if people were less worried about other peoples' private lives and more concerned about ways to make this world a better place, clean air, food for everyone, jobs, the homeless etc...  people would be happier.

If you aren't gay then you don't know if it is a choice or not! I believe people are born either straight or gay, and whatever you are is cool with me!

We were left with a book of instructions that has 66 books.  This book covers every aspect of life, no matter how insignificant we think it is.  So, what does it say about homosexuality?

Romans1, starting with 18th verse:   (18) For God's wrath is being revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who are suppressing the truth in an unrighteous way ...(24) Therefore God, in keeping with the devices of their hearts, gave them up to uncleanness, that their bodies might be dishonored among them (25) even those who exchanged the truth of God for the lie and venerated and rendered sacred service to the creation rather than the One who created ... (20) That is why God gave them up to disgraceful sexual appetites, for both their females changed the natural use of themselves into one contrary to nature; (27) likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene and receiving to themselves the full recompense which was due for their error...(32) Although these know full well the righteous decree of God, that those practicing such things are deserving of death, they not only keep on doing them but also consent with those practicing them.  I implore you to read the entire chapter so that no one will say that this was taken out of context.  Please note that those that consent with these practices are as guilty as those actually carrying out these acts.

This is not anything new.  These same practices existed in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, and both cities were destroyed by God.  Read the account of Lot and his family.  Where do you think the word "Sodomy" comes from?  The angels of God who were sent to warn Lot were attacked by the homosexuals of the city.  Lot offered his virgin daughters, but they refused them stating they wanted to have sex with the angels.  Even after being blinded by the Angels they groped for the doors of Lot's home trying to get to the Angels.

As a society we have become very lax on caring what God wants from his creation.  We are little by little indoctrinated or brainwashed into accepting practices that are very much in violation of God's word.

We are all free to choose what we want to believe or accept.  I, for one, accept God's Word and accept it as my guideline.  Judgment is not up to me.  What I have quoted is directly from God's Word.  Each one of us must answer for our actions.

Leo Tolstoy-Christians need to look with in

Quote From: exmormon

What these "Christians" are completely ignoring is the fact that homosexuality was such a non-issue for Christ  that he never said a single word about it.  If you're going to claim that you're a "Christian" then try acting like Christ first.  Saying you're a "Christian" doesn't make you one anymore than saying you're a car makes you a car.

My favorite quote on the subject of these self-righteous, immature people comes from Ghandi:

"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians.  Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

I also think that the "Christians" are so worried about changing others that they have forgotten to look inside themselves. Leo Tolstoy once said "Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself."

10/19 "I'm Gay, OK?"

Quote From: max_01

I'm glad he used alchoholism as a comparrison.

Once an alchoholic, always an alchoholic.

It is the behavior that needs to be addressed and the triggers that the alchoholic must face. He conviently forgot that point of his illfated arguement.

It is sad that he referred to a illness to form that comparrison.

I preferr to use hair color.

I pretty much disagree whole heartedly with 'once an alcoholic always an alcoholic'.

I don't believe that someone who hasn't touched a drop of alcohol in 20 years is an alcoholic.  I believe they are a recovered alcoholic.   A person no different than myself who simply can't touch alcohol again, but why give yourself such a negative title when you have been free of it for so long?

Former drug addicts don't call themselves 'drug addicts' after being freed from addiction.

Former smokers don't continue to call themselves smokers.

I watched the show and know that religion was a huge part of it.

That said and I know people are going to be angry but please remember that "God" did not write the bible, men wrote the bible and who is to say that they didn't get it 100% correct? Man is fallible.

It is true that people will have opinions, as they are entitled.

But what some people find immoral or sinful others don't(like me).

Of course if you haven't guessed I'm agnostic. As long as everyone is saying that they are christians or whatever figured you need a good old fashioned hethen's point of view.

First of all, thanks for your response and not coming off with an attack...THANK YOU

Alot of people pose that question about the bible being true.  I can only tell you that I can understand why you would have doubts, but I don't.  I believe the bible to be 100% the word of God.

I guess one of the great things about free will and freedom of choice is we all get to have our own opinions.

Again, thanks for the response and have a wonderful evening.

It's true God himself did not write the bible, but he chose the men who did, and the bible is not just a single book, but I would not expect someone who didn't try to understand and study the books of the bible to have anything good to say, but that's okay, your not the only fool to bash Christians, we're used to it but God said it would be this way, our will is to please God and keep trying to reach the lost (you my friend),  you can not nor never will you break the will of a true Christian. I will pray for you and ask God to forgive you because you are very troubled.  God Bless you

The Apostle Paul was a follower of Christ.  Read the account of what he has to say about homosexuality in Romans 1:28 to the end of the chapter.

Ghandi said what he said probably because "Christians" are "Christians" in name only.  Being a follower is not only "believing" in God and Christ, but actually putting into practice everything left written in HIS word.  Think about that.

Well,

What have you recovered from then? Alchoholism right? And you can't begin recovery untill you call it what it is. Admitting the truth is the first step. The moment you forget your illness will be the moment the illness takeshold again.

The moment an alchoholic denies that first step, they begin their slide back into addiction.

Staying true to one's addiction, and not clouding up with pretty names and the like, will allow the addict, alchoholic, smoker, etc. to take the next step towards sobriety.

Those laws come from the Jewis laws of the Old Testiment.

I love that questionare. Seen it many a times.

I know where they come from - Leviticus specifically.

Dr. Laura is Jewish and I don't know why the Jewish laws are mentioned as there are no Jewish people debating against homosexual behaviour.

Most of us here are Christians and while Jesus came to fulfill the law, he and his followers also mentioned references to homosexuality in the New Testament  - none of which are favourable.

Although i keep hearing that this lifestyle is favourable, I have yet to see anyone posting any scriptures to enlighten me.
