(Original Air Date: 10/19/05) Sexual orientation used to be something kept hidden from family and co-workers, but now more and more people are "coming out" and finding acceptance. Anjela says her mother and sister don't support her sexual orientation, and feel she can't be Christian and gay at the same time. Can they reconcile this touchy issue? Then, two men debate whether a person can go from gay to straight, and parents of a 4-year-old boy fear their son's desire to play with dolls and wear heels means he'll grow up to be gay. Are they overreacting to his wishes to be a princess instead of a prince? Talk about gender and gay issues here.

'RAP'?

Quote From: countrycow

i got my heart in the right place!  you need to take a look at your own self!!!!  the bible is gods word and god don't change!  the bible stands true today as it did then!!!!!! i don't put no one down!  i don't hate no one!  i witness to people that are lost about jesus and whats right!!!  because i care for their souls!!!  i want to see the lost get saved before its too late and they end up in hell!!!!!  all sin will not enter heaven!!!!!  their are alot of sins besides being gay!!!  like killing, stealing, drinking, going to bars, rap, wife beaters, hateing, and so on!!!!    you need to get your heart right with jesus!!  i will pray for you!!  think what you wish!! but the devil can fool you about whats right and wrong!!!!  so be careful!!  may god bless your soul!!!

Hmmm........ I wonder just how do so many christians 'forget' the bible when it is convinient to them?  Bit then I guess no christian does any of the above, "killing",etc, it must be just us that are 'lost' and stupid.

How must it feel to worship something/someone that allows torturing, killings, starvation, rasicm, etc.  Why do most churches cost a fortune to build, when that money could surely go towards the poor, but then the church machinery is to take from the poor to make the rich richer.

There is so much 'hate' that come from some of these posts it is unbelievable. All people have a right to their own opinions and if you can't give me your own thoughts on the topic I need no lecturing on a different subject altogether.

People that are so quick to judge others should search their own souls and mind, I am ssure that there would be quite a few 'dirty and dark secrets' within yourself and family, but why do that when it is so much easier to attack something that you have obviously little knowledge of  and are definatley not able to debate the topic as only god and the devil come into the equasion. That is totaly wrong we are 'debating' about gay people, which in itself I think is ridiculous as they are people (yes just like you 'christians') and as adults and taxpayers have a right to their own life.

I am not gay, but I respect all people no matter what color, race or sexual orientation,  my god were my parents who taught me to love and respect my fellowman.

I am not "lost", I know perfectly well where I am going and what I am doing,  my heart is full of faith and hapinness towards my family and life in general, I need no "guidance".

While on the subject, how convient it is for 'christians' to forever go on about  'better living beyond the pearly gates", and yet they quite intelligently thought up the law that noone who commits suicide can enter. Hmmm.............. just wondering...........

10/19 "I'm Gay, OK?"

Quote From: sboyd55

Darling, I am NOT a pedophile.  My point is if homosexuals can clain they were born that way, then why do they look down on pedosexuals who say they were born that way?

I believe both are a choice, and God will judge both.  I agree with you.

Yes, the pedophiles certainly are using that very argument - that they were born that way.  Very scary.

Free Will

Quote From: oet_gaol

You say it states in the bble that being gay is a sin, yet you also state that man has a free will, and here is my problem:

It was man who wrote down the bible NOT god maybe by devine inspiration maybe not who knows, isn't it possible that some one might slip in a few ideas which served his own purposes? (remember we have free will)

Furthermore the bible has been translated many times from it's original Hebrew to Greek to Latin and from there on into the modern languages don't you think there might something be lost in translation?

And by the way didn't Jesus die for our sins? And why would you hate gays? Wasn't one of the ten commandments love thy neighbour? You say you don't hate gay people yet you say they are taken by the devil BY CHOICHE!!! You question there faith, that doesn't seem nice to me, you just hide your hate or fear behind religion. And that has happenend before with religion, suppression of the blacks for instance because they where not as "good" in the eyes of "god" to name one. was no more then hiding commercial interrest behind religion.

And what you say that being gay is a choiche, well though straight I can assure you that it's not a choice to be gay otherwise I think there wouldn't be as many gays or do you think it is fun being scolded for being the devil all the time by the likes of you? That people are tring to change you into somthing they think is "normal"? Or not having the same rights as straight people? or having a smaller pond to fish from for a mate?

America says it is a free country and it is, just not for everyone I guess otherwise gay marriage wouldn't have been such an issue and people wouldn't have to be changed all the time.

I dare you to proof me wrong America!

Free will is given to each one of us...  And we have this because of the love that God has for us, for sending his son to die for our sins.

I do not hate anyone.  My best friend from High Schoo is gay and I do not love her any less.  I just disagree that God would make us in his image and make just a few here and there gay.  That is absurd.

I do question their faith - and that is too bad that you think that is not nice.  That is the reality of it all...

We all make choices in life.  So did God make some of us alcoholics or drug adicts too?  No, again that is the free will of man that made that choice.  And I am one of those.  I am an alcoholic with almost 5 years of sobreity.  I made the choice to drink and to quit.  I did not immediately go back to my religious roots after I quit.  But I know that God loves and forgives me.  Why?  Because I asked for forgiveness.  He will forgive all - but not just because you say you are a Christian will you be allowed into heaven.  You must believe in God

There are many interpretations of the Bible.

No one said you did

Quote From: lhughey

My stepson was born gay.  We didn't make him gay.

Your son was not born gay.  God does not make us gay....

First, read Romans chapter one.  In this chapter the Apostle Paul deals with homosexuality as he writes the letter to those living in the city of Rome.  In his day, homosexuality was practiced openly by the Romans.  Even the Emperor had a harem of homosexuals attending him.  You will note that Paul says the first reason for the development of perverse sexual lifestyles was their rejection of God (vs. 20-23).  This denies the homosexual claim they were born that way.  Homosexuality is a learned experience (vs. 24-25).  It is a perversion, an unnatural practice (v. 26) It results in a depraved (a mind give to all sorts of wickedness and evil) mind (v. 28).  Homosexuality can be forgiven as any physical sin can be forgiven by God.  However, we need to realize homosexuality being a physical sexual sin is a very difficult one to over-come.  Coming to Christ is the only way a homosexual can be saved from his perversion.  Homosexuals I have talked with who demonstrate true conversion tell me the hardest thing for them was admitting it was a sin and the second hardest was denying themselves any homosexual sexual contact.  Because homosexuality is a physical perversion, being converted does not take it away from the person.  When you are saved, it is your spirit and soul that is saved, not your body.  Your body will die, because it has been the tool of sin, but at the Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, the believer will receive a new body free from sin.  Praise the Lord.  Paul urges in Romans 8:14-25 to deny your physical body any sinful practices.  In other words, the urge maybe there, but you do not have to give into it.   The question of whether a homosexual can be a Christian and still practice homosexuality is not biblical.  The same is true of the adulterer, the thief, and all other sinful practices.  If we claim to be saved from sins, then we are to give up our sinful practices and live like it.  The homosexual who claims to be Christian and still practice homosexuality is deluding himself and lying to everyone else. Since true conversion to Christ requires conviction of sins and repentance (turning from sins) the homosexual must demostrate his claim to conversion by his changed lifestyle.  There is no way a Christian or the church can approve of homosexuality as an accepted lifestyle.  It is a perversion and will be judged accordingly by God.  However, it is not an unforgiveable sin and homosexuals who have truly been converted  and live a Christian lifestyle should be accepted into the fellowship of the church as anyone else making the same claim.

GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

Quote From: rlanthier

And how may I ask do you know that I don't have a relationship with Him?

MAYBE YOU DO HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD....BUT WHAT KIND OF RELATIONSHIP DO YOU HAVE?  ARE YOU REALLY IN THE WILL OF GOD?  DO YOU LISTEN TO WHAT GODS SAYS TO YOU?  AND DO WHAT HE TELLS YOU TO DO?  GOD SPEAKS TO PEOPLE.  DO YOU HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WHERE GOD SPEAKS TO YOU?  MY POINT IS...IF YOU HAVE A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, YOU WOULD DO HIS WILL AND STUDY YOUR BIBLE MORE.  SOMETIMES THE  SCHOLARS ARE WRONG.  I RECOMMEND YOU READ THE BIBLE FOR YOURSELF AND GET AN UNDERSTANDING OF GOD'S WORD AND A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD......A RELATIONSHIP WHERE GOD CAN USE YOU TO HIS GLORY.

I do not automatically make my mind up - I do speak with a dear family friend/preacher.  This  Pastor has not only been given the gift of prophecy by God - we are all given a spiritual gift when we accept Christ - but has been preaching and knows the bible better than anyone else I know.  He has been preaching for 40+ years.  I am not making this based on my own opinions - but on what God expects of me as a Christian.  Challenge by you or not - I know what God expects of me as his blood bought child and I will follow his will for my life.  We all have moments of falling - but I choose to live by His will for my life and not my free will. God bless  MG   First, read Romans chapter one.

CHRISTIAN PEOPLE

Quote From: elle1951

I can completely empathize with you and also feel distraught, saddened, and even angry. My only

daughter is gay and lives with her partner who is Venezualan. She is 35 and is a successful

professional. She came out when she 18. I too, inaccurately thought that she would " grow out "

of it. But now realize and believe that it is NOT a choice. I accept and love her for herself. I visit them

and stay with them periodically. [ I live several states away . I only wish for her happiness , regardless of her orientation. I applaud your loving and open minded attitude towards your

daughter. Too often, a parent's love is conditional. If we really love our children , it should be

unconditionally and complete. I get so angry sometimes, when I hear so called  " Christians "

judging and looking down on gays. They live in such a narrow , self righteous world.  Jesus

taught love and tolerance. That certainly isn't followed today by most people.

I AM A CHRISTIAN.  I BELIEVE THAT YOU SHOULD NOT "STOP" LOVING SOMEONE BECAUSE OF THEIR SINS.  JESUS DID TEACH TOLERANCE AND UNCONDITIONAL LOVE TOWARD ONE ANOTHER.  THE PEOPLE WHO ARE JUDGING AND LOOKING DOWN ON GAYS ARE NOT TRULY CHRISTIANS.  IT IS NOT OUR PLACE TO JUDGE THOSE THAT ARE IN SIN....BECAUSE WE WERE ONCE IN SIN TOO....AND STILL TODAY HAVE FAULTS IN OUR LIVES.  EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES AND FALLS SOMETIMES.  WE MUST LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES, REPENT, AND TURN AWAY FROM SIN.  KEEP LOVING YOUR DAUGHTER  WITH UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND PRAY FOR HER.

Well, we're just not allowed to disagree!

Not allowed to have these conversations.

Not allowed to have a different point of view.

(I agree with you by the way)

It took me twice to read through. Then I got it, lol.
