(Original Air Date: 10/19/05) Sexual orientation used to be something kept hidden from family and co-workers, but now more and more people are "coming out" and finding acceptance. Anjela says her mother and sister don't support her sexual orientation, and feel she can't be Christian and gay at the same time. Can they reconcile this touchy issue? Then, two men debate whether a person can go from gay to straight, and parents of a 4-year-old boy fear their son's desire to play with dolls and wear heels means he'll grow up to be gay. Are they overreacting to his wishes to be a princess instead of a prince? Talk about gender and gay issues here.

06/06 "I'm Gay, OK?"

Quote From: judyblue22

If I thought long and hard enough about being with the same sex, I could act upon it.

Then I do understand your strident revulsion to homosexuality.  Most heterosexuals simply could not be with the same sex.  I know I just couldn't go there, even if all the men in the world were annihilated. That is why I accept gays.  I understand them.  They are incapable of having an intimate relationship with anyone but their same sex and they choose to have an intimate relationship.

If you are in the closet and passing straight, it makes sense that you have built up such a reaction to homosexuality.

You have brought up an interesting point only I have one question how do you explain so many homosexuals with their own biological children? They must have had an intimate relationship with the opposite sex at least once, twice or how ever many children they had with this person.

Media Overload

Wow! After reading some of the messages, we are all over the place with these "gay" questions and opinions.  That's us humans!  We have that free will to think however we like.

However, one only has to study history to learn where homosexuality in a civilization leads to.  What about the Roman Empire? That culture had sunk to the depths of depravity, just like America is heading today.  Television is full of the gay message, pushing it on us ever so insidiously.  Don't you find it disturbing that even with Dr. Phil's successful show on how our society is "in the ditch", the very media that brings us Dr. Phil to help straighten us out, also brings us graphic scenes of sex, murder, violence, and crime scenes so horrific our children are being scarred,  every night of the week??  Knowing how television has impacted our society, why haven't the "powers that be" in the television industry,  acted in the public's best interest?  Why has society accepted whatever they have thrown at us, no matter how lame? Why do we Americans continue to feed on the biased crap the media throws at us?

The first defense Satan uses is humor. If we can find humor in it, we've allowed it in our minds and our hearts. One only has to read and reread the Bible to understand the grand scheme of things.  It's not about us. We are wonderfully made and each of our lives has a purpose. We are in a war people!  The forces of good and evil fight daily for our eternal souls, it's just that simple.  There aren't any gray areas in morality.   Homosexuality is becoming an accepted behavior in America, even same sex marriage.  Hasn't anyone else ever figured out how much the Islam religion despise homosexuality?  Yet the liberal media never cover that part of homosexuality.  Just how "unfair,  judgemental, and homophobic,  we are over here!  Over there, you die!

I'm just thrilled that in 1974, I was wonderfully and gloriously saved.  That means that I said the "Sinner's Prayer" and asked Jesus Christ to take over my life and these 32 years later, I can honestly say have been blessed.  Do I sin? Yes I do, everyday.  Not that I break one of the Commandments, but sin is an action negative to my Christlikeness. But because I'm a new creature in Christ, the Holy Spirit takes care of me, which is the best part!  My gut tells me what to do just as plain as if I had someone gouging me in the ribs.  Before I learned what it was and I wouldn't follow that gut feeling, I was in a mess. Since I've started obeying that "still small voice", my life has an ebb and flow that is so peaceful.  My prayer is that all people will hear the Gospel Message and be saved, but the Bible says otherwise.  That is sad.  Americans think they don't need God, but history shows what happens when countries have ruled God out.

We Americans need to realize the terrorists have not given up on destroying us.  It's not a matter of if, it's when.  That's what makes me sad, we Americans are so wrapped up in ourselves we don't even realize the countdown is going on every day.  We need to stop all this selfish diatribe and look at the big picture.  That new plasma tv isn't going to matter much in a nuclear attack, your eternal soul will.  What about your family?  I just know I'm not taking any chances.  I believe in these 32 years of serving our Lord Jesus I would have hit a snag, but my life is pretty much how the Bible says it will be if I trust and obey.  For me, there's no other way.

I know I've taken up a lot of space, but people we have to face it, we can fight them and win some battles, but Satan is alive and well and living in America.  Pray, read your Bible, and get in a good Bible preaching, Bible teaching, Gospel sharing church and wait on the Rapture!!!

06/06 "I'm Gay, OK?"

Quote From: hazel_eyes

I cant say I know how it feels to be homosexual, but I can try to live in your shoes.  i am totally hook line and sinkered into loving chocolate eclairs filled with bavarian creme.  100 percent addicted.  cant live without them.  I've had that desire since childhood and it show(ed) on my body.  so i started closing my eyes and holding my nose when walking past bakeries (see no evil, smell no evil).  i turned the channel on tv when they mentioned chocolatey items.  you have to do that in your sex life too.  dont tempt yourself by entertaining bisexual feelings and thoughts.  dwell on other things that are positive in your life.  professionals give affirmations to people for a variety of problems.  find some affirmations that will help you and say them to yourself daily.

This is one of the silliest posts I've read today.

Chocolate? You are comparing you like of chocolate to someone's sexual urges?

Also...Why are her bisexual feelings not positive? I actually feel lucky to be bisexual. My husband has stated this to me also. I see people. I see sexiness clearly with out genitals messing with my mind. I enjoy people and I HONESTLY do not understand NOT being attracted to both sexes.

It HONESTLY boggles my mind. I don't see how someone can arbitrarily dismiss an attractive, intelligent, sexy and loving person simply because they have a penis or a vagina.

But since I can see I'm in the minority I understand that people are all over this sexual spectrum so I don't harass people over it. I don't tell my husband that he MUST find Bono sexually attractive since he finds him to be an interesting person in every other way. It's not my business because he's not hurting anyone.

I fail to see how being bisexual isn't a positive thing in a persons life, or how it is a negative thing in a persons life. How is it anything other than what it is?

06/06 "I'm Gay, OK?"

Quote From: irishmom

The Bible CLEARLY states that homosexuality is a sin.  However, the Bible also clearly states that we should love EVERYONE, as does Jesus.  There were many people in Biblical times that sinned, but Jesus himself said, "He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone".  I do not agree with homosexuality, but I have my own sins to worry about.  Who am I to judge another when I walk imperfectly?  If one of my children were to come to me and tell me they were gay, I would be very sad for them (for many reasons, not just because of the fact that they are gay, but because it is such a hard lifestyle to live, in part because of all the hatred toward them), but I would LOVE them NO differently.   So-called Christians who HATE gays and treat them unkindly are not Christians at all in my opinion.

And why should i care --- at all ---- what the bible says

you may not be as bad as some but you got to realize not everyone cares about your book

I have a problem

Quote From: boduke15

you have got a problem.  no  reason to be upset.   can't  help it if you can not  handle  the truth.   being gay is a sin.  GOD made man and woman to be together  not the same sex.   GOD loves the person   but hates sin.   i  am a careing  christian person and  i care for others.   i   witness to the lost about JESUS.   gay is a sin like all the other sins.  its a sin a person decides to  do. knowing its wrong, but they do it anyway.    you can not be saved and be gay.  for if you are still gay  you are still sinning.  you can't have it both ways.  i pray  for them  and hope  one day they will get saved.  may god bless.
Of course I have a problem.. I have a big problem with everything you're saying. I have a problem with the book that says God made Adam & Eve on the 6th day of creation, and then later on made it rain 'til the whole earth was flooded and told Noah to put two of every kind of animal on his ark. As far as I'm concerned, all you're doing is quoting a book of fairy tales, like the one's I've just mentioned, to justify your own views. Why don't you just have the integrity to admit that you're giving your owns views on the matter, instead of pretending that those views represent the word of God?

Well, some people are revolted, others aren't, some are somewhere more in the middle in a sexual spectrum. Some were just pressured to do so. Some didn't even let themselves entertain the idea that they are homosexual.

We all need to remember that people are people, each is unique. Not all gays are alike.

I know a man who was christian, married a woman dutifully got her pregnant 3 times and tried his damnest to be what he was expected to be but could do it no longer and is now living as co-parents with his former wife.

I know another man who, no matter how hard he wanted to could NOT bring himself to have sex with a woman, he could not date women, he could not find any romantic value in a woman for himself.

Both gay, both different. Just like everyone else, we are all different.

06/06 "I'm Gay, OK?"

Quote From: exexgay

In the Fall of 2001, I found myself in the midst of a national controversy. Can Gay people turn Straight?  After leaving a high-profile position with a conservative Christian organization, which I paraded around the country confessing was healed from homosexuality. I believed it was time to tell the truth about the “ex-gay” movement and advocate for young people who struggle with their own sexual identity.

Through my experiences with these anti-gay organizations, I have first hand knowledge of their propaganda of hate. Many of these organizations target youth who are struggling with their own sexual identity. I want to put a face on what I believe to be the number one factor in my work advocating the truth, no one can deny life experience. And that is what I have. After years of struggling with my own sexual identity. Denying the very essence of who I was, putting myself through a two year residential “ex-gay” reparative organization called Love In Action. I know the importance of diversity education.

Wow, why do so many chrisitians fail to see this........

i mean the lady on the show tired for --- 7 years --- to change

You have brought up an interesting point only I have one question how do you explain so many homosexuals with their own biological children? They must have had an intimate relationship with the opposite sex at least once, twice or how ever many children they had with this person.

1) Many of these relationships that you talk about were forced upon the person in them by family, society, the church, whatever it may be. They were not comfortable experiences for the homosexual person involved, as I can tell you from experience with my partner (she has a son from a marriage with a man). Sex in that relationship was equivilant to rape. She hated it and didn't want him sexually, but came from a strict catholic family that told her that straight was the only way to be. So she forced herself to sleep with him. She finally smartened up and got rid of the guy and told her family she is gay. She finally accepted herself. Her son is very precious to her, and she doesn't regret what she did in the past because it gave her him. He lives (very happily and stable I might add) with us full time. Alot of children are born to gay parents because they are forced into hetero relationships because of societies pressures.

2) GAY PEOPLE CAN STILL HAVE BABIES WITHOUT HETERO SEX! Do I need to have sex to get pregnant? NO! This is the modern age people, and statements like the one above are ignorant. There are so many advances in technology today that if I felt like having a baby, I could get pregnant without sexual contact with a man.

3) A lot of gay people feel ashamed of who they are when they begin to come out. They are told by everyone that they are wrong. So they TRY to be straight. I said in one of my other posts that I did this. I dated a guy in high school for 3 years, and never wanted to have sex with him. (I'm 29 now)

I forced myself to once in the last year we were together. It was very uncomfortable, I wasn't turned on, and it hurt. These reactions were my bodies' way of telling me this is not who I should be with!

If you were told that homosexuality was  "the only way to have sex", then you would probably try it at least once too, just to be sure, even if it wasn't what you wanted to do. And chances are you would suffer great emotional stresses because of it.

Open your mind! There is more than one way to love and be loved! Think about it.
