I am in Williford Arkansas

Hello there my name is Alisha I am from Williford Arkansas. And I started on a weight loss endevor about 4 months ago. I started a little thing called the South Beach Diet(Sorry Dr. Phil but I could not afford the book that you have out it was $5 verses $18) I love the Diet and now it has become a lifestyle and it is not hard to live with after you have been on it for a week. I was 230#'s when I started and now I am 208#'s and I still work on it everyday. But now I am less obesessed with it, like I said it is a way of life now for me. I just wanted to have other people to share my sucess with and hear their sucess stories to. I am here and I am a good listener......

I live in the Searcy area, and I would love to have some buddies in Arkansas.  It would be great to have someone to be accountable to.  At my highest weight I was at 292, and I am pleased to say that I lost 50 lbs.  The problem that I am having now is for the last year I am at a plateau that I can't seem to get past.  At my highest point I was taking two different types of blood pressure medicines, and now I am off of them both.  I feel really good, but I so need to lose about 75 more pounds.  I could really use the encouragement, but most of all someone to answer to.

Buddy here!

Looks like we're spread out all over the state...My name is Kristen and I live in Little Rock.  I need to lose 75+ pounds and think I could really benefit from having  a friend go through this with me.  I know my family and friends would help if I just asked, but I want someone who really understands the struggle.  Any takers?

I lost about 60 lbs about a year ago.  I went into a plateau and have never been able to shake it.  I still have about 80 more pounds to go.  I just can't seem to get motivated.  I had a horrible time over the Christmas break.  I ate like there was no tomorrow, and now my body thinks I am starving it to death because I am trying to eat right.

I would love to talk back and forth with you.  I really think that I need someone to be accountable to.  I am trying to keep my calories at 1500 per day.  I am also trying to walk at least 3 times a week for about 20 minutes.  I hope to increase this at time goes on.

It would be great to hear from you.

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on losing 60 pounds!   That's  such a huge achievement in itself! And I can totally relate to your Christmas struggle.  I think that's just part of human nature (okay, American culture?) to overeat at the holidays.  The only reason I didn't gain this Christmas is because I had a horrible virus for a week.  I actually lost 5 pounds.  Somehow, just seeing the scale go down that little bit sparked something in me.  It's just so refreshing to step on the scale and not see a higher number.
1500 calories a day is what I'm striving for as well.  I'm not on any particular diet.  I'm just trying to make healthy choices and not eat after dinner.  Nighttime has always been the hardest for me.
Now, I read on Yahoo Health that to lose weight, you have to exercise more than 20 minutes a day/3 times a week.  Lots of people get stuck on that formula, but I think that's a formula for maintaining weight.  Personally, I'm scared of "burnout", so for the first week (started today), I'm doing 3 times a week and next week I'll step it up to 4...continuing like that until I'm at 6 days a week with Sundays off.
Okay, I'll wrap it up.  Just know I'd love to have you as a Weight Loss Buddy.  You can email me at trisninity@yahoo.com anytime.  I'll respond with my starting weight, goals, etc.

Pleasently Plump

Hello, My name is Christy Pine Bluff-Sheridan area, Arkansas, and I watched two of Phils shows the last todays and it has taken a pickin on me.  I am weighing in a 250 right now, I was 262 in october 05.  I had a medical problem and in order for it to resolve itself, I had to completely make a change in my lifestyle of eating.  Which I have and am slowly working on getting my weight off. I have emailed the show to get some incouragement or advise.  I don't feel comfortable going to a gym due to my size, I have no friends my size whom I could go with.  My friends would help me if I asked, but my friends have their families and are smaller.  I am not happy with the way that my body looks and I am the only one who can change this.  I thought I would join this message board to see if I could get some positive feedback and maybe meet new friends in my same perdicament looking for support from others.

Thanks Christy,

Thanks Christy,

Hello Christy...I am from Fayetteville, AR.  I need to loose 160 pounds to be at my own personal goal.  I am older so I will not be able to loose as easily.  I know I need to exercise along with eating healthy in order to be a success at weight loss, however with the extra 160 pounds on my small 5'2" frame I have so much trouble and pain in my knees that I am unable to do most any kind of exercise which includes walking...at least very far or long.  I am too embarrassed to get out in public on a daily basis much less going to a public gym where I would feel like everyone is watching me and making fun, even if they are not even paying any attention at all.

On one of Dr. Phil's shows this week he had a lady that lost well over 100 pounds using his two books and she really looked great.  I know she was many years younger than myself, however it still gave me some encouragement that there might still be hope for me.  If you have any suggestions or words of encouragement I could really use some.

Thank you...Sheila

Hello, Sheila

Thank you for your response.  It is always nice to be able to meet others in your own state.  I hear you about your weight and age. I am 37 and I have a number of things going bad if I don't get a handle on this now no telling what will happen.  But I have the choice and the decision.  Only me, no one else.

I am a very happy person, I don't let my weight get my way of the way I feel.  But yes it is very embarrassing to see all of these smaller people, to me size   16 would be suffient to me preferrable a size 14 would be better, but I have to be the one to make this change.  I have decided to make this change as October 5, when I was told that my liver cells were dying, due to the lack of nutrition to my body.  I didn't eat right if at all.  Starving was my middle name.  Not that I wanted to starve myself.  I get up in the morning get dressed, brush hair and teeth and head to work, each lunch and it would stick with me till the next day at lunch.  Not even imagining that I was harming my body.

I wished that I had friends close to me that I could go work out with.  I would just have to get over the (everyone is looking at me).  I have definitely changed my way of eating.  I have started eating.  I don't dring any coke type products.  Haven't done this since 2001.  That is not the reason I continued to gain weight.   I have started exercising ( I purchased a Tony Littles Gazelle) exercise machine.  I love it.  It doesn't work your knees as much as using a treadmill.  I know take multi-vitamins.

Sheila.  The most encouragement that I can give you is the one I give myself.  Don't loose the weight for anyone (BUT   YOURSELF).    You have to be happy with yourself.  Sometimes this is very hard to do.  But I am a very happy person, I make friends very easy.  That is my positive side.  We set goals for ourselves, but very seldom follow through.  My goal is to get to 140 or so.  The most embarrassment to me of myself is my stomach area.  If I didn't have this it wouldn't be so bad.   But I don't feel sexy when I am with my husband.  I want to change that.  I am wanting to go and get the weight lose book from Dr Phil.

If you need a friend, I will be that friend.  If you need to talk, I will listen.  We have already set our own goals.  Now lets take that step and get started.  It's never too late.

Thank you for responding to my message.

Christy
