Eighteen-year-old Natalee Holloway disappeared early last summer during a senior class trip to the island of Aruba. On a recent show, Dr. Phil joined the search for the missing teen and broke new ground in the case. He called for a boycott of Aruba and put his own investigators on the trail. Now, two months later, Natalee's mother feels there is a strong chance her daughter is still alive. Hear, for the first time ever, the evidence she reveals to Dr. Phil. Also, learn how effective the boycott is and why a pair of Dr. Phil's rescuers found themselves in need of a rescue.  Plus, Natalee's disappearance bears similarities to the case of another young woman who went missing in the same region. Meet the parents of Amy Bradley and see what strong evidence has them holding onto hope that their daughter is still alive.  Join the discussion.

Find out what happened on the show.

re: seems important

Quote From: belleb

I think my mom may know the name of the reporter who approached Mrs. Halloway with information about Natalie. A few years ago my mom and her friend were vacationing in Aruba when all of their jewelry was stollen. A reporter approached my mom and her friend with infomation about their stollen stuff and they went riding around with him in the slums of Aruba for a week in search of their jewels. He was able to get info from the "chollers," homeless people who live in the slums. Mostly they paid for the info, but the Chollers seem to be the eyes and ears of all hte shady things that happen there. Anyway. They found out the names of the men who stole their stuff but when they went to the police, the police wouldn't do anything because they didn't want Aruba to get a bad reputation! I think this hellpful reporter has got to be the same man who approached Mrs. Hal;lowell. Mom thinks she must have his name written down somewhere. Should I call the hotline? Jodie Perry
It is possible that this reporter was trying to be helpful; but I find it much more likely that the reporter was working with the homeless people and that your mother was part of a scam. The reporter probably got a cut of whatever money your mom was paying for the "information". Just a variation of old of the oldest scams in the book and it goes on in the U.S. too.

I hope you don't act on your statement that you won't allow your children to travel.  At some point they will travel without sitting in Mom's lap.  If they are completely inexperienced when that happens, they will be very vulnerable. Supervised group trips are one of the best ways to prepare them safely for that transition.

Also, I have no fear of travelling I just believe that children - yes, teens are that, need supervision or they will not learn how to manage the world.  We travel a lot in the US and have been to China with our eldest son.  These message boards are hard to communicate with as is all writing because no matter what you write it sounds like something different to those reading it.

11/17 The Search for Natalee and Amy

Quote From: hiya2005

Thank you Dr Phil for all the shocking information on today's show about Natalee and Amy.  After watching this show, I have sworn off of any Caribbean island or cruise.  Since abductions and sex slaves are all along the Caribbean, we as American's should boycott all of the Caribbean islands entirely until they get rid of the sex slave industry all together.   God bless our children.

The Sex Slave Industry exists because their is a market for it.  To get rid of the market is key.  One needs to prosecute those who sell and market these young girls and those who use the services.  Those using the services include rich American tourists.

According to World Vision a quarter of all who travel internationally so that they may solicit sex from children are U.S. citizens.

These industries exist in the U.S. as well.  Maybe you should work on fixing the problem at home.  Finding and prosecuting the sick Americans who are using these services.

traveling

this whole story is heart breaking. it never occured to me that she could have been kidnapped into the sex slave world.

these stories really go to show that when you are on vacation, especially out of the country where the laws could be contrary to what we think they should be, that you cannot act 'as usual' when traveling. even then, there are some really bad people in the world that want what they want and could kidnap anyone.

My girlfriend and I were in hawaii when we were 18. I remember that we were with a group of people that she knew but I didn't. We were drinking and I am certain that I would not have been able to fight off an attacker. Anyhow, the night took a turn that I was not willing to participate in. I left and asked the restaurant to call me a taxi. I waited outside where I could have been taken without anyone noticing (I thought I was being smart). Fortunately I made it back to the hotel where we were staying and my brother was there. I told him where we had been and he was furious! The next day on the way home he told me to never go out and get drunk so you can't take care of myself, I should never go out alone and that there are some very bad people in this world.

Recently while shopping at Target, I got in the elevator to go to the 2nd floor. a man jumped in behind me and totally creeped me out. Knowing I was stuck in the elevator, I turned my cart so that it faced him - I then made eye contact. When the doors opened I exited after him. It was my impression that he followed me around the store for a while. I left my cart and went back to the other floor. I didn't see him again and did my shopping all over again. I don't know if he was a bad person or just happened to be on teh same route as me but I am glad I'll never know.

It's sad that there is such a terrible type of person that prays on young women that maybe aren't aware of where danger might be lurking. It is also important for parents to teach their kids to trust their instinct about whether or not someone is a creep and to take measures to protect themselves.

I hope both of these girls are found and can shed some light on what really happened.

Boycotting Caribbean resorts isn't likely to change this international problem.   The estimate is that 50,000 sex slaves are imported and sold in the US each year.   Americans are also the prime customers in many of the brothels in other countries that use captives and children. There are even sex tours organized in the US to travel to Thailand and other poor countries to use their children. This problem will continue as long as their are customers.  I recommend that we look closer to home for an answer.

What do the legitimate psychics say about Natalee's disappearance?

I have kept up with Natalee and her missing in Aruba.  My daughter and I have spent many nights looking at TV.(Nancy Grace, CNN ,and Fox)  We were so concerned for her and her family.  And of course, we still are.  I am so excited to hear the news that she may still be alive.  Oh how we all pray for her to be found O.K. and returned to her family and friends.  That would truly be a miracle!!  I am very interested to know if her mother has talked to someone like Sylvia Browne or a famous psychic that is known to have information on cases like this. ( I have looked at real criminal case stories on TV that have psychics that actually solved the case. )  I believe these psychics and believe these are talents given to them by God.  I know there are fakes out there and I don't believe in these psychic hotlines you call to find out what your future will be like.  I truly believe beautiful people like Sylvia Browne  are real and speaking out to help people.  This is a God given talent and  God intends for them to help people.  I like watching the Montel show when Sylvia is  there.  So interesting and I  love how she helps sad folks deal with the loss of a loved one.  I just would love to know what these legitimate  psychics have to say about Natalie and  her disappearance.    I have not read any information , as to whether a psychic has  commented about Natalie.  If someone has any information about this, I would like to know.  In closing, I continue to pray for her safe return home.  To her family, keep up the faith.  Everyone admires you for your strength!!!

Marylanger's Comments

Quote From: mdwestdena

First off, let me say to the people of Aruba--I wouldn't worry about Americans boycotting your country. We can't get organized enough to form a picnic or any other activity, much less a boycott.

I watched most of the Dr. Phil show today; and I have to say that quite a bit of it was misleading talk. Sentences like, this happens all the time in Aruba--but yet, they can only come up with one other case and the person wasn't even kidnapped in Aruba; the ship had already set sail the night before.

Then we have the "ace investigators". Yeah, it's real subtle to get off a plane and the guy renting you a car just happens to know where you go to buy underage kidnapped prostitutes. Then when you get there, the "supposed madam" just starts shoving girls at you. Yeah, I'm believing that one. <rolling eyes>

As for the FBI; there is no reason they could do any better a job than any other police agency. We don't own everything in the world and being an American citizen doesn't mean your so special that we can just send in whomever we want to take care of your case. Besides, those men were held 30 days or longer; the law here is that you have to be formally charged with a crime by a grand jury to be held longer than about 72 hours--which pretty much means you actually have to have SOME EVIDENCE--which the Aruban authorities didn't even have; it just so happens their law states they can be held longer while the authorities decide whether or not to charge you with something.

I also would like to disagree with something that was said about this "supposed" phone call that Natalee's mother recieved. Dr. Phil stated that his expert analysts could not identify it as her voice because shows like CSI make people think that the FBI can do these things when they really can't and that only the person's mother would know whether or not it was their voice. If that is the case; then how can we trust the government (FBI & whomever else) to analyze these terrorists tapes and say that it is definitely Saddam Hussein or Osama Bin Laden that is sending us the message? (Although I will say that CSI and shows like it do give people the sense of police and agencies being able to do forensics at a record clip when, in reality, that is not the case & also that they do some things that would never actually stand up in a court of law.)

You said: Then we have the "ace investigators". Yeah, it's real subtle to get off a plane and the guy renting you a car just happens to know where you go to buy underage kidnapped prostitutes. Then when you get there, the "supposed madam" just starts shoving girls at you. Yeah, I'm believing that one. <rolling eyes>

I have to ask...have you ever spent any amount of time out of the USA? I've lived in Europe for SEVEN YEARS...it is ENTIRELY FEASIBLE for exactly this scenario to take place!!!!! Wake up or stop preaching on a subject for which YOU obviously have no solid ground to stand upon!

I don't think you should be so opinionated toward Dr.Phil regarding all his genuine efforts to help these poor desperate families find their daughters. If their are other nationalities over there, and there's a happy ending to this unsolved ,sick industry,I'm sure Dr.Phil won't leave standing their naked! If you pay attention to the negatives it does no good. Everyone should be thankful that there's a GOD and a Dr.Phil and Robin and family!
The sex slave industry is so profitable and full of corruption that is very difficult to free these girls. Many of these girls are so frightened they will not leave, convinced that whoever is offering help is merely trying to trick them and they will end up being beaten if they accept. Some rescue operations spend months trying to gain the girls confidence. They use survivors to help with these rescues, they know how this "industry" works. Even if they do somehow escape, they have nowhere to go. In many cultures they will be shunned by even their own families. There is a foundation that tries helping these girls in India. It is called, "Maiti Nepal". The US has a non-profit organization called, "Friends of Maiti Nepal" which is dedicated to addressing the human rights crisis of girl sex trafficking. It is an appalling human rights issues which needs and deserves much more attention than it is getting. And yes, girls who have been kidnapped from other countries are sold here in America. 50,000 a year. khelgi

Human Trafficing

The Lifetime channel just ran a movie on human trafficing about girls that had been kidnapped and sold into prositiution. Every parent should see it.  Any country that participates and allows this horrendous money making venture should be boycotted. Travel agencies should be written to and encouraged to warn our citizens that they may be at risk.

I do have a question for Dr. Phil as a parent.  What can every parent tell their son to keep them away from these places of prostitution?  If men weren't visiting them they wouldn't be in business.  Why don't these men have any self respect either for themselves or others?  How does it come to be that some boys think it's acceptable to use women?  Why don't they think they are responsible for having self control?  Help us to raise better men and maybe, just maybe, it would make a difference.

America is Expected to be the World's Caretaker...

Quote From: kairshea

When will Americans understand that the Sex Slave Industry occurs in your own country????

And your comment: "Why can the US government not go into these brothels where there are known Americans being held and break them out" is so typical.  It's all about the US.  What about destroying the whole industry.  What about freeing every girl of every nationality that is being treated as a sex slave?  Why does everything come down to what's best for Americans.  What about caring for all people who are being treating unjustly against their will.

If you're so "anti-American" why would you suggest that America "free all the sex slaves?" Seems to me other countries need to take a stand, as well. I think most Americans are sick and tired of being babysitter and big brother to everyone in the world and then being spit upon as soon as our mercy missons are completed! So why don't you write to your own government (since it's obviously not the American government based on your statement "It's all about the US.") and see how much effort they put into this mission??
