(Original Air Date: 12/09/05) It's Ask Dr. Phil and Robin day! When they say "anything goes," the guests take full advantage. Melissa says her sex life is boring, and that it's all her husband, Spencer's, fault because he is too uptight. He says he's tired of being a piece of meat. Can they meet in the middle when it comes to the bedroom? Next, Russell says his daughter, Nyla, is a piano-playing prodigy. His wife thinks he's pushing Nyla too hard -- especially since she's only 7 months old! Then, a mother and her teenage stepdaughter compete to see who can eat less in order to lose weight, and Robin tries to set them straight. And, a mother fears for her 13-year-old daughter, Kelli, who drinks, smokes and is missing curfew. See what Dr. Phil has planned for Kelli. Plus, go backstage and get a sneak preview of Dr. Phil and Robin hosting the JCPenney Jam Concert for America's Kids, and learn how this organization is working hard to provide kids with opportunities after school. Talk about the show here.

Painful Childbirth

I cannot agree with giving the last couple  TiVo and a new t.v. If they didn't have the common sense to get themselves to the hospital on time for the epidural, they shouldn't be rewarded.

I'm a mother of two. Both of my children were just shy of ten pounds at birth. My total labor for my daughter was almost 48 hours, with 24 of that in the hospital. My son- total of just over THREE DAYS with about 6 or 8 in the hospital before he was born. I delivered both children with absolutely no drugs. I wanted a clear head and I wanted my babies to be able to feel their first moments of life without the grogginess that drugs are said to cause. (I've posted all this once before, but it looks like it didn't make it for some reason,) And while it HURT and I will never again feel pain so badly (I'm not planning on any more kids), I wouldn't trade it for all the epidurals in the world. Because I cannot think of anything more beautiful then hearing my babies first cry, mere seconds after they left my body. And I cannot think of anything more satisfying then being able to hold them to my [bosom] and feed them in the same amount of time. If this woman CHOSE to be late for her epidural, and couldn't see the beauty of what she experienced (feeling the pains), then she shouldn't be rewarded.

Next time, she should just miss the darn show!

Melissa

That chick Melissa that wanted to have sex on the side of the road was ridiculous. She came across as a Lucy Ricardo type trying to be sexy to turn on her husband, but failing miserably. I can see why her husband was cringing. I was cringing along with him. Vaccuming naked, and grabbing her husband's butt at the restaurant was a good example of ridiculousness. She needs to calm down and stop trying to be a porno actress or a girl in a victoria's secret commercial because it isn't working.

Am I leading the One person I love into Failure

Dr.Phil and Robin,

I am sooo stressed and I am at my max of the High tollerence I have! I live with my boyfriend Rob, he is 18 years older then me, and his family hates me! They think I am a gold digger! Rob and his brother/Partner got in to feud a few months ago and now they both are battleing the business. Rob is done with his family, there is more to that then them just not likeing me. However Rob has taken over the one location while his brother is at another, this is just until they can sell and go different ways. For the past 4 months the brother and his wife have called me saying the most crule things, trying to get me to beleive Rob is cheating, lying and trying to damage his crediblity with me. When that didnt work they have cranked the store during the rush time makeing us lose business, told employees lies, and went as far as to put a lock on the gas line out side the store Rob Run, while thinking the gas was shut off Robs store was closed for 4 days loseing more then $ 4000.00 in business and wrote a letter saying Rob was not pay the bills. Little did he know Rob wen tto the gas company and they informed him no one from the gas company put the lock on and to break the lock.. Not only has his brother tried ruin his relationship with me, He has tried with employees, befriended Robs Ex wife and is useing her to cause drama and now he is attacking Robs lively hood. I am afraid of what he will do next.

The love of my Life is giving up and is so depressed. At times I know he feels as though I should not be exposed to this drama, and  I try to reasure him everything will be okay. After they sell all the stores Rob has anounced he is done with the resturant business because he has lost to many people he cares about over money. My worry is other then the Marines , Owning a resturant is all he knows. I have helped him fill out a resume and assured him everything will be okay, however am I doing the right thing because in the back of my mind I am scared He may never get a Job because of his narrow experience. Am I leading him into failure?

Thanks Dr. Phil and Robin

Piano Prodigy

As a piano teacher who has taught private lessons for 13 years, I have to admit the segment on this 7-month-old "virtuoso " caught my attention.  I think it's wonderful that the parents are exposing their children to music at such an early age, but I would have to say that this proud papa is going a little overboard.  My friend has a 1-year-old who has shown interest in music, specifically the piano since the age of 6 months or so.  Whenever I go over to visit and sit down to play the piano he walks over and wants to sit in my lap and play to his heart's content.  I absolutely encourage that!  Do I tell them to make sure that he gets at least 30 minutes of practice a day?  NO WAY!!!!

Robin said that they enrolled their son in piano lessons in first grade, and many teachers will agree that that is the ideal age.  Introduce your children to music from day one, but don't force any type of structured practice until they are old enough to be enrolled in lessons.

Stepmother/Stepdfaughter weight and looks obsession

Having survived an eating disorder as a mother in her 50's many years ago and having watched one daughter close to death for 20 years from same and another daughter as an exercise bullemic even today, I wanted to jump into the TV on December 9 and strangle the stepmother who plays a very dnagerous game with her stepdaughter. Looks can be destroyed in a flash by almost anything. The obsession with food and exercise can lead to eating disorders which take years of work and therapy to get under control-if ever. Let that pathetic woman with shallow values spen one day in the life of a severe eating disorder and maybe she will cahnge her value system. That sweet girl is beautiful. LEAVE HER ALONE. She comes to you because you have given her the ammunition. Tell her she is beautiful within her heart and nothing else matters. SO what if she becomes a size 12!!!!! Is that the end of the world. Watch out lady. Eating disorders are deadly and you are both headed in that direction. Sorry for my anger, but I have lived it as a sufferer and as the parent of a sufferer. It is not worth it.

Childbirth

I was shocked at the birth story. Since when is an epidural so important. I have a daughter who wants only to have natural childbirth because of the probability that the babies would be free of all drugs. Our society has become soft. Did the women in the fields have epidurals? Toughen up America!! We are a country of drugs, legal and illegal. We need to do better.

Eating Disorder

Quote From: nodachance

I was surprised Dr. Phil did not bring up the possiblity of developing an eating disorder while trying to compete to see who could weigh the least.  As a parent who has a daughter with anorexia it is offensive to see this type of stupidity on TV.  If this step mother has to pay $900 per day for her daughter to be in an eating disorder facility, she will think twice about her plastic surgery.  She certainly won't be able to afford it!  Society has really screwed up!  Too many young girls are obsessing over weight and appearance, which is damaging them in many ways.  Dr. Phil has done shows on eating disorders, so for him to not stress it on this show is a serious omission, in my opinion.  Dr. Phil has paid for one girl that I know of to go to treatment for her ED, but he can't afford to send everyone.  He needs to look into how insurance companies treat eating disorders and other mental illnesses and do a show on that.  Eating disorders are the most deadly of all mental illness, with up to 25% dying from them.  Your body cannot survive on less than 1200 calories per day for very long.
I have been where you are and I couldn't agree more. As much as I love Dr. Phil and used to adore Oprah, their constant referals to weight loss has gotten my negative attention. The woman on the show was disgusting, and I agree that it was a serious omission on Dr. Phil's part not to mention eating disorders. If we had the money it took to treat me and my daughter we would be multi millionaires. We are both okay now, but it took 15 years. Keep plugging. I understand what you are going through and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Bubbelynn38@mac.com

Reward me!! I'm still in pain.

Dr. Phil, I have seen many postings similar to this and had to add my own.

At TV and TiVo for 4 hours of labor?  Ready, here's my story.  I had two natural births (1/2 dose of nubain with one, but it doesn't do much) both were posterior, which causes back labor for hours before contractions.  With my oldest, I didn't want an epidural, with my baby, I didn't get the chance.  She came too fast which injured me greatly.  I have been exercising and going to the chiropractor for months and my lower back is still injured (she's 4 1/2 months old now).  Lifting her is painful and I can't avoid it.  And when we flooded last week, that can't have helped.

I was really surprised to see her rewarded this way and would like to hear your response as to why on earth you felt it equal to the reward you gave it.

The lady who lost weight for her class reunion

I was happy for the woman who lost weight for her reunion.  The point I didn't like is that Dr.Phil tried to be funny and called the woman's classmates Bitches.  My jaw dropped as soon as he said the "B"  word.  I could not believe what I heard.  Dr. Phil has always acted like a gentleman until then.  I lost  respect for him that day.  I'm sure I'm not the only one.
