(Original Air Date: 12/13/05) If your job description includes long hours, little sleep, and endless requests to open your checkbook, you must be a mom! One single mother wrote to Dr. Phil for help with her two teens, whose wish lists get more and more expensive each year. Then, Kelly has been married only four years and says she can't remember the last time she went on a date with her husband, John. Dr. Phil sends his "Mom Squad" to make a house call. Plus, Jeannette says she used to be a sexy blonde bombshell, but now she's lucky if she even takes a shower in the morning! And Larry King's wife, Shawn, shares some mistakes she made with her oldest son, and gives a surprise performance of songs from her new album. Join the discussion.

Not blaming the Woman

Quote From: wyldcelt

No

Men cheat because A) They can B) Because they're selfish or have impulse control problems and C) Because there are women willing to put up with their lack of integrity. The reasons they give are excuses for their own poor behavior: an attempt to place the blame on someone other than themselves. Why would anyone want to stay with a LOSER that behaves like this?

That doesn't excuse wives from taking care of themselves while taking care of kids, it just requires some adaptations to established routines. It is easy to fall into lazy patterns when you're getting very little sleep but wives have to make a conscious effort to make sure they're taking care of themselves as well as others

I know exactly why men cheat.  I guarantee NO MAN wants to come home to someone who does not shower or take care of herself.  You CAN look (and smell) nice while wearing sweats or "Mommy Pants"  I have plenty of friends who wear Mommy Clothes but they also comb their hair, etc.  That was what I meant.  I'm talking about the moms who don't shower, wear stained clothing, don't comb their hair.  It takes 5 minutes to freshen up before hubby gets home.  There are, unfortunately, ALOT of women who are C. willing to put up with a man's lack of integrity.

Shower!!!!

Quote From: my_2angels

I'd like to start off by saying that I, too, wear my "Mommy-clothes" with pride. I do make sure to get a shower every day, but I have not worn makeup since I was a freshman in high school. Who needs all that goop on their face, anyways? If my husband decided to "look elsewhere" because I was too busy raising his children and cleaning his house and cooking his meals to be dropdead gorgeous every day of the week, then good riddance to him! SELF Matters does not mean "Self matters only if others are impressed by what they see." SELF Matters means that it's important to care about YOURSELF and BE yourself, not dress to impress others. And, frankly, if I'm too busy caring for my kids to get a shower, I still have pride in myself that I put my kids first and foremost to make sure that they are healthy and happy, well adjusted kids. Showers will wait. Kids grow daily and need as much of their parents' attention as possible.

On the "Mother Teresa" issue, why do you think she was called MOTHER Teresa? Because she DID have kids. Thousands of them! And she cared more about making sure she could care for others before caring for herself. And I highly doubt that she had less pride then the woman who feel like they have to put on a mask (makeup) to be beautiful.

If I can only be gorgeous for my husband one day a week, then it's a heck of a day. (*WINK*) But the other six days, I'm a mom first. My husband is grown up. That means he doesn't need me as much as my children do.

it just goes to show that some women out in the richest country don't take pride in being clean on a daily basis.  It makes me sick when I go to the store, church, movies etc and see young ladies dressed in thier PJ's and fuzzy slippers and have not showered is this what you mothers are now teaching your kids? what about self repect. You have no right being a parent!   My mother and father raised 12 kids thats right 12 kids and every day my mother took a shower and had on clean ironed cloths as well did her kids.   A proud mother is a mother that showers and put on clean cloths everyday. We do not live in a 3rd world county.  We live in AMERICA.  SHOWER show your kids you have self respect.  Oh and for those mothers that don't shower, when your kids don't want to take a bath look at your self in the mirror don't get mad at your kids you taught them that its ok not to be clean!!!!!

I have no idea when to start on this letter.  Just because someone is wearing pajamas doesnt mean they are dirty.  Get a grip on yourself.  If my husband wants to see someone wearing makeup every day then great....he knows where my make up is...he can go ahead.  Your mother AND father raised 12 kids probably when bread was 25 cents a loaf.  What shows my kids that I have self respect is to conduct myself with integraty and caring.  That is self respect.   Not to mention that if you talk to a dermatologist they will tell you that showering everyday is not neccessarily that good for your skin.

Good for you if your only problem in the day is what shoes to wear.  As far as telling people they have no right to be a parent....you have no right to make that distinction.  Maybe you need to just stay in the kitchen and bake a cake or something and let people who have an understanding of others deal with the real issues of the world.

I was a single mom for many years and I know the struggle.  You don't have to give them everything they want.  Besides if you do whats for them to wish for later.  Don't beat yourself up over it.  I still don't give my kids everything they want because they need to learn respect, caring and earning.  Because regardless of your lot in life you can't always get what you want....

I tell him how i feel and he says well look at how she listens to me rather then you (She doesnt reallt listen to me very well) I an calm and nice and say things like "please stop dong that" or "thats not very nice of you to do tht"

he says "ISABELLE WHAT DID I SAY I SAID NO. STOP DOING THAT NOW" or if she is in his way he will say"GET" R we just the opposite? an i too nice and he is too harsh? what can i do.

I dont want my dauhter to be afraid of her dad. He really is a good caring dad. and he doesnt do this often only when she is misbehaving.

Hold me back!

Quote From: valleb

Mother Teresa was a NUN!!!????  Not married, no kids, NO SEX.  Do you really think your husband wants to be married to Mother Teresa???  Were you modeling Mother Teresa when you got married??  Like Dr. Phil says, Was it the Bait and Switch?  Not to be harsh, but don't be surprised when he looks elsewhere.  You don't have to be Kate Moss (who would want to be?) but taking pride in yourself is important.  Hmmm.....What was the name of Dr Phil's book?  Oh ya, SELF MATTERS!!!!

I am a stay at home MOTHER of ten children and love it. Miss Mother Teresa was a nun..... the MOTHER that got this post going most likely does take showers etc. ...but like HUMAN Mothers that we are use make-up....get dressed up when the time is right. Whats good for you and your family great everyone lives and runs their household differently. I choose not to get all fixed up dailey. It just doesn't make since. To each his own!!!!!!! Believe with 10 kids if I want to look HOT for my hubby I can. My husband loves me unconditional..........as for wondering eyes because someone else out there WEARS makeup and dresses up everyday.......doesn't seem to get my hubbys attention he knows the grass isn't greener on the other side.......(that grass needs to be cut too)He calls me a easy keeper....I'm thrilled that my husband thinks he's lucky not to be married to a PREMADONNA (spel/) that spends his money as fast as he makes it and their life evolves around ME ME ME. It's a no brainer........glamour or life at home taking care of the familyyyy, PRICELESS! I'm content in always being home taking care of the wonderful family GOD has given me......you can't get any better than that!

Painful heels verses tennies or flipflop (No brainer)lol

Pantie hoses (makes me shiver!) lol

Comfortable jeans ahhhhhhhh!

One in awhile Mommy time..........PRICELESS! That was makes a good Mommy.

At the end do what you floats your boat no need to judge and nic pic someones words that was just sharing her two cents after watching The Dr. Phil Show.

Happy Holidays!!!!!! Smelly & roughlooking PROUD Mother of 10 and thankful wife to my PRECIOUS hubby, Ray.        Cathe'<><

You are taking a beating over your comments but I am on your side.  These women didn't look like dogs when their husbands, were their boyfriends.  Having a baby doesn't give anyone a reason to be a slob.  My Mom raised three little ones, and she worked full time because it was a necessity. Yet she made time to look nice.  She was beautiful then and she is beautiful now.  There are exceptions to every rule, but I think the angry mom's bashing you are just too lazy or clueless to care.
