Do you believe that walking under a ladder or someone giving you the "evil eye" can give you bad luck? Dr. Phil's guests say that curses and evil spirits are wreaking havoc in their lives. Sarah is convinced that she's hexed. For the last five years, she has been plagued with what she calls the "Tuesday Curse." Watch what happens when Dr. Phil's producers follow her around on her "unlucky" day. Then, George is convinced he is reaping the negative effects of a curse put on his family years ago in Mexico. He has even put his wedding plans on hold because he fears the curse will cause him to divorce! Plus, David worries that his wife, Holly, may be possessed because she has had the same nightmare for the past seven years, and she has been talking in a man’s voice, speaking in a foreign tongue and barking like a dog. What's behind her fearsome dreams? And, a woman claims an exorcism, performed by her father 26 years ago, put demons inside of her.  Share your thoughts.

01/05 "Am I Cursed?"

Quote From: stefmars

Did anyone notice? When Holly described one of her dreams, did she not specifically mention seeing 4 dark figures which she then banished by commanding them each to Hell?  And, didn't Sharon list 4 demons she feels torment her?

Perhaps Holly has been doing battle on the behalf of someone she only met yesterday.

Dr. Phil often says he believes things happen for a reason....Sharon was so sad and worried about what potentially having demons might do to her salvation.  Maybe there's a message to Sharon to Fear not!  You are so precious that Angels fight for you when you aren't even aware.

I was struck by a resonance between these 2 stories, but I may simply remember the dream wrong.

It hadn't occured to me, but it certainly is possible.

AM I CURSED?

I realize this will be an unpopular opinion, but I believe what your guests are experiencing is negative energies from some spirit or spirits. Any psychic or metaphysical practioner would be happy to teach you how to keep this negativity from causing havoc in your life. Upon waking in the morning ask that God send the white light of the Holy Spirit to surround with white light and to allow no negativity to enter your life. Do the same thing at bedtime. You can control the energies within your own self, but it takes belief and trust.

For those of you who do not believe in psychics, shamans and metaphysical practioners, we do believe and worship God. We are not witches, we do not use  our God given gifts to put curses or hexes on others. Please understand our special gifts. We do not ask for them and most of us use them for good. Of course Dr. Phil would totally disagree with us, and that is his choice; but if you haven't tried it, don't knock it.

For those of you who believed you are cursed.... simply ask God and the Holy Spirit to help change your life and help you achieve those things you seek.

I think you are so right.  It would be just like God to have the two of them meet like that.  I believe that both of them are unaware of the power of God though.  I think that Sharon's upbringing has caused fear and rejection in her life, making her subject to the torture of demons.  I feel that her Dad should have been more discreet while practicing exorcism.  I believe that demons can possess a person and I believe that exorcism is necessary at times but I think it is a very rare occassion.  Sharon said her Dad was doing this every night in their home.  Something wrong with that picture!  People give to much power to satan.  Christians filled with the Holy Spirit have power and dominion over satan and his fallen angels.  I think the message may have been to us all.  I don't think that Holly is fighting any spiritual warfare for Sharon, she doesn't understand what she is experiencing.  Holly is running around putting sage in her house to ward off the evil in it.  Witchcraft?  I think God is trying to tell them both to look to him to fight their battles.  Curses are real. Deut. 30:19.  I pray for both of them.

Am I cursed?

To everyone who thinks that they are cursed: (as in bad luck stuff)

You were born in the United States, one of the wealthiest countries in the world.  You have a home, food in your refrigerator, electricity, heat and/or air conditioning in your home, you have many changes of clothing, a job, a car and money to spend on useless items.  Go to another country, look at the people that have no food to eat, no job, no house, no change of clothes, no clean water to drink, no health care, no doctors to visit when they are sick.  And you complain because you had a bad day.  The people who live in poverty, thank God every day that they are alive to love and care for their families and friends.

I think of the parents who sell their children for food, and you whine that you are cursed!  We are a greedy nation and want everything perfect.  Life is not perfect!!!! Life is what you make of it.  There are tradgedies and trials in life, that does not mean you are cursed.  You choose to look at the bad things in your life, not the good!  For people who are "cursed" with bad luck, change your attitude, look at the good things in your life, not the bad!

As for being "cursed" in the evil spirit or in cases of possession, I do believe that can happen.  It doesn't happen every day, but evil is around us trying to turn us from God.  I believe you can open yourself up to evil and once you do it, you sort of fall into a dark way.  If you look in the Bible, it does talk about evil spirits, Jesus exorcised people who were possessed, He was even tempted by Satan himself, but Jesus turned away from temptation.  We, being imperfect, have a tendency to grap ahold of the temptation and run with it.  Then we find ourselves in trouble and then we cry that we are cursed.  YOU DID IT TO YOURSELF.

Living in the light and walking in the path of faith is a tough road but well worth the struggle.

so, these are my thoughts on being cursed.  I know that many people will feel differently but, to each his own.  So next time you get a flat tire, or have a bad day, thank God that you had that flat tire, because you could be living in a third world country deciding whether to sell your beloved child to someone so the rest of your family can eat or keep your child and watch your children starve to death.

Thoughtfully submitted,

Terri

light and dark

I watched yesterday's show and was so touched by the two last stories.  I especially feel concern for Sharon.  I find it hard to accept that a father would do such a terrible thing to his little girl, a girl who was so obviously afraid of life (no doubt learned by her father and the images he surrounded her with).

While I cannot relate to such abuse at the hand of someone who "loved" me, I can relate to the fear of religious symbology.  When I was younger, I would have trouble sleeping after watching a movie with religious symbology (The Seventh Sign comes to mind).  I would literally be shaking with fear.  I would obsess over reading the bible, looking up passages that I had seen quoted in movies.  I think it is important to note that I was not raised in a religious family.  My mother and father chose not to raise us in a church family, so that we could make up our own minds when we reached maturity (maturity isn't something you reach when you are 18).  These dreams and fears stayed with me until adulthood.  I lived overseas for some time, and went through a terrible, dark depression while there.  The nightmares climaxed.  I was literally fighting evil in my sleep.  By myself I felt completely helpless, and frankly terrified.  I thought that demons were going to possess me if they hadn't already.  My intellectual self knew that my mind was simply putting symbols on to the feelings I had inside.  Even though I knew this, I was still terrified.  I went to an international clinic, and explained my situation...I myself said "fighting inner demons"...which the doctor corroberated.  I worked hard at fighting for so long, and was absolutely exhausted.

I read and read and read in the following months.  Philosophy, religion, science, psychology...I am a firm believer in learning by and helping oneself (life teachers of course are invaluable).  One thing stuck in my mind.  It is a fact that spans time, space, religion, science, spirituality.  It is something that has brought me peace and at times real joy.  It is something I found a great deal of comfort in.  By writing this, it is my hope that maybe Sharon will read on, and realize that ALL humans have good/evil, light/dark (whatever your preference), in them.  There is no need to fight anything.  Fighting causes struggle, conflict and pain.  Know, accept, be aware, and there will be peace...and let your light shine!

BLESSINGS AND CURSINGS ARE REAL!!!

Hello all !!!  This is my very first message and I feel really led to respond to what I saw yesterday on Dr. Phil's show.  I am a Christian, the church I attend with my family is nondenominational.  We believe the word of God is truth and life.  We believe that God made himself flesh and dwelt among us.  Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior.  Blessings and cursings are very real. Deut.30:19.  The wonderful part is that if you recieve Jesus as your Lord and Savior and are filled with his Holy Spirit you have dominion and power over these curses and demonic spirits.  If you believe with your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is the son of God, he was crucified and died on the cross for the redemption of your sins,he was resurrected on the third day, and ascended to the Father, you've taken the first step to salvation.  You must be baptized in water in the "Name" of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  This means you must be baptized into the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  The "Name" above all names is JESUS. After this you are sealed with the promise of the Holy Spirit.  Ask  for the Holy Spirit to come and dwell inside of you.  Seek the word of God daily, Knock and the door shall be opened to you.  Find a good Bible based church to attend regularly.  Don't just take my word for it,  try it.  All of the guests on Dr. Phil's show yesterday really need to think about the power that they are handing over to fear, doubt, and confusion.  All of this comes straight from the pits of hell.  Satan and his fallen angels have no power over us.  Perfect love casts away fear.  I will be praying for you all.  Take control of your life through Jesus Christ.  You will no longer be a slave to sin, but a slave to righteousness.  You will have the mind of Christ which is peace and joy. I'm not saying that everything will be easy.  I'm not saying that nothing bad will ever happen in your life.  What I am saying is that you will not feel the need to react to circumstances, you will stand and let God be God.  He finished it all at the cross. You are not reading this message by accident.  It is his will.  May God Bless and Keep you all. Amen !!!

posessed

I know it sounds bizarre to people who aren't religious or spiritual in any way but posession does exist.  I have been posessed by an evil spirit for a year and a half.  I got this way by using tarot cards and reading books on witchcraft(I never cast any spells).  It was the worst mistake of my life.  Now I am posessed by and hear voices from spirits who tell me they are dark angels.  They constantly tell me I'm going to hell and what is going to happen to me there.  It is absolutely horrible.  Most people, believers that is, would say "get an exorcism" but it is not that easy.  My minister said that he's seen a few and they are terrifying.  I asked him if the evil spirits went away and he said,"NO".  Though I've never seen the movie but I know the story of , THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE.  She died during one. The women on the show whose father gave her an exorcism at age 9 seemed to have gotten her evil spirit during that exorcism. I believe the only way to rid yourself of evil spirits is by praying to GOD.  It is up to him whether he does it or not.

Excuse me?

Quote From: nbrooks

Not sure that I understand that (Christian tarot Reader).

As far as the magi and shepherd interpretation I have to say that it is very interesting, and I will study that out, thankyou for that.

There is one issue that I may disagree with. I am all for 'Love thy neighbors.." but, and I may be mis-interpreting, it seems that you are saying pagans are ok, christians are ok, whoever is ok with their beliefs. This is what we call 'Eastern thinking' where no one is wrong and everyone is right. The opposite end of course is what we call "Western thinking' where there is either right or wrong. If there are two different religious beliefs only one can be right. The Bible quotes Jesus as saying "I am the way the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the father but by me." To classify this, Jesus obviously believes in Western Thinking.

So there are 2 possibilities:

1) Jesus is right. He is the way and there is no other way (that would make all other religions and spiritual beliefs, including pagans and wiccans, wrong.

2) Jesus is wrong. He is not the way and there is some other way.

You see if you say that everyone is right then that makes Jesus right. If he is right then everyone else is wrong so, inevitably, Eastern Thinking is impossible.

You can think what you want of Jesus and the Bible but there are only three possibilities.

1) Lord: He is God. Obey the Bible

2) Liar: If this is true then he was obviously not God, and not a prophet or a good man and his teachings should be disregarded and not equalled to muhammed or whomever.

3) Lunatic: A crazy man, not a prophet.

Only 3 choices, you pick!

I have read some of your other posts and you have said that you have taken courses in Theology.  So my question for is how can you dismiss so many religions?  Obviously you are bias and think Jesus is the way to go which is perfectly okay with me, I do not jugde.  What ever suits you I say go for it.  But it is wrong to say that Pagans and Wiccans and Buhddist are wrong.  These religions have been around before Christianity!  There are not only three choices or three paths in life to take.  There are many.  I for one am Pagan and am not ashamed of it or think that my way of living is wrong.  See, that's the thing with most Pagans, we do not judge, we have relationships with our God and Goddess and we see no harm in it.  As our saying goes, "An' it harm none, do what ye will."  To bad other people can't seem to think the same thing.

P.S.  Did you take your classes at a church?  I'm just wondering.

You should try...

Quote From: springlife

I think that it's humorous that people automatically assume that the woman with 'night terrors' isn't having a paranormal experience but rather some kind of sleep disorder.  We haven't heard the 'tongues' or a linguist's evaluation.  If she really is speaking in Latin (as her husband suposed) then wouldn't that rule out a sleep disorder?
I posted this yesterday in response to a post, not seeing how to start my own post.  So, here is a reposting.  I hope that the woman who had been 'excercised' is able to read my message, since I know somewhat how she feels concerning her father/family.
I have experienced excercisms also.  Well, three.  One of a friend in college.  They only let one other student in there during the excercism, which was myself.  It is so dangerous to have unprotected/spiritually weak individuals present during the exercism, and I was the only student they thought would be ok in there.  I was so upset to hear that the father was bringing people into the home to be excercised.  That is so dangerous!  Especially to have children in the house.  Not only is it spiritually dangerous, but it's dangerous psychologically as well, as we have seen in this poor lady.
The second and third exercisms were my own.  When I was little my mom tried to excercise me because I was so terrible.  Since then I have been diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, which is a high functioning form of autism.  This caused much of my behaviour, including adversion to being touched.  In Mom's defence, since my daughter also aparently has AS and I experience the daily meltdowns and behavioural problems my mom had with me, I can see how she was concerned that I might be possesed!  When I was older, my parents thought I was possesed because I had been raped and then became promiscous with the rapist, and later a boyfriend.  They felt that ment I was posessed, and I wasn't!  I was in my twenties, and was absolutely horrified that they were doing this to me.
I can understand how that poor lady felt, even if she was possesed.  I was so angry and hurt.  I don't think I've ever gotten over it.  If she was possesed, then I agree wtih her parents trying to get the demons out, but the situation should have never hapened to begin with.  Her father should have protected his family.
On another note, my grandmother was very obviously possessed.  She had other voices (including male) that spoke through her and she had super human strength (weighed 65 lbs,
hadn't eaten in a week, but it took four large male nurses to hold her down.)  She tried to kill her son, who lived with her.  She was really messed up, and the psychologists who evaluated her said she was fine.  We put her in a nursing home and shortly thereafter she behaved normally.  I supose the demons left her and went into others in the retirement home.
I do want to add that I was very impressed that DR Phil gave his opinion and thought he did an excellent job!
A great book on this subject is Bob Larson's Spiritual Warfare Book. It can be purchase at his web site. He also have a church in Phoenix, AZ where you can go for deliverance and curse breaking. There are other churches like that to call Spiritual Freedom Church. I saw their web site at spiritualfreedomchurch.org

Jesus is your Anwer!!!

Quote From: justweird

I guess everyone who says that this isn't real, or is 100% psychological have never really experienced it. Sorry, but mental problems don't make things fly off tables and smash into a wall. Mental problems don't change the temperature in a room. Mental problems don't create apparitions that several people can see...everyone seeing it without any prior suggestion.  I have been touched, paralyzed, and even strangled by things I cannot see.

Sure, one can say that it is all in my head or there is a physiological cause for it.  I used to think that, too. I had medical tests including EEG to rule out some type of seizure, but everything came back normal. That leaves psychological. I do have post traumatic stress disorder and Dissociative Identity disorder. If you don't know what that is, I wont try to explain it here.  That said, I will say that SOME of the physical symptoms could be attributes to dissociated body memories/abreactions.  But I know that some of them are not.

I am a survivor of satanic abuse as a child and have a history of satanism.  It is absolutely real. I find it odd that many Christians believe in angels and miracles, but they don't believe in demons or curses.  A lot of people who believe they are cursed, really are not. But that certainly does not mean that NOBODY is tormented by evil or by curses. One thing I will say is that whether or not it is real for an individual, the only way to know for sure is by finding a good therapist who believes in the possibility of spiritual oppression.

Read books, talk to pastors...get a lot of opinions. If it becomes clear that you do need deliverance/exorcism, for petes sake do NOT let just anybody who calls themself an exorcist work with you.  You will wind up worse off than before!!  I know because it has happened to me.  I have yet to find someone reputable who understands both dissociation and spiritual warfare. I have to believe that there is someone somewhere, otherwise there is no hope for me.

Hello.  I am praying for you right now that God will open your heart and mind to what it is I'm going to tell you.  There is hope for you.  Are you a Christian?  I believe that curses are real. Deut. 30 :19.  I believe that  demonic possession is real.  The Bible clearly states that these are real.  If you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is the son of God, that he was crucified and died on the cross for the redemption of your sins, was resurrected on the third day and ascended to the Father, you have taken the first step into salvation.  You must be baptized in water in the Name of Jesus.  By this I mean that you must be submerged into water, representing your sinful flesh being put to death with Christ on the cross, and then resurrected into newness of life through Christ.  Jesus was God in the flesh.  When he ascended to the Father, he sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in us as our comforter.  Ask for the Holy Spirit to dwell inside you.  Seek his word daily by reading the Bible, knock and the door shall be opened to you. Find a good Bible based church to attend regularly.  Satan and his fallen angels have no power over you if you are a son of God. Just as curses and demons are real so are BLESSINGS and ANGELS.  Perfect love casts away fear. GOD is LOVE.  Jesus defeated death, hell, and the grave at the cross.  Walk in that victory.  Find a friend who can pray with you.  Someone who is also in agreement with the word.  Where two or three are gathered in his name(JESUS), there is he in the midst of them. Cast these demonic spirits that torment you back into the pits of hell where they belong. Remember them no more in Jesus name.  I'll be praying for you.  If you sincerely want help , here it is.  I know it works, don't take my word for it but try it.  You'll see with new eyes and hear with new ears.
