Do you believe that walking under a ladder or someone giving you the "evil eye" can give you bad luck? Dr. Phil's guests say that curses and evil spirits are wreaking havoc in their lives. Sarah is convinced that she's hexed. For the last five years, she has been plagued with what she calls the "Tuesday Curse." Watch what happens when Dr. Phil's producers follow her around on her "unlucky" day. Then, George is convinced he is reaping the negative effects of a curse put on his family years ago in Mexico. He has even put his wedding plans on hold because he fears the curse will cause him to divorce! Plus, David worries that his wife, Holly, may be possessed because she has had the same nightmare for the past seven years, and she has been talking in a man’s voice, speaking in a foreign tongue and barking like a dog. What's behind her fearsome dreams? And, a woman claims an exorcism, performed by her father 26 years ago, put demons inside of her.  Share your thoughts.

A great book on this subject is Bob Larson's Spiritual Warfare Book. It can be purchase at his web site. He also have a church in Phoenix, AZ where you can go for deliverance and curse breaking. There are other churches like that to call Spiritual Freedom Church. I saw their web site at spiritualfreedomchurch.org
A book I frequently recomend is Johanna Michaelson's The Beautiful Side of Evil.

01/05 "Am I Cursed?"

A great book on the topic of curses and demonic influences is Johanna Michaleson's book "The Beautiful Side of Evil."  I highly recomend it!  Someone mentioned how prevalent curses are in South America.  Michaelson was from Mexico, and became involved with a 'fatih surgeon.'  She saw a TARANTULA cut off someone's neck (I think it was his neck.)  It was origionally a tumor, but they knew it was a curse.  They used no anesthesia and the surgeon cut the tumor off, and it was a tarantula!  This is an amazing book and a real eye opener.

01/05 "Am I Cursed?"

Quote From: ny_legs

I must say, I am extremely happy with the way that Dr. Phil presented his Opinion on this topic.  I sat on the couch and looked at my husband prior to one of the commercial breaks and said..."this should be interesting."  I wondered how  a man who I interpreted as being a spiritual, God fearing man would  attack this topic without stepping on the toes of many viewers.  Any other day, he wouldn't care less what the public thinks...he bases his commentary on research.  As a Christian, I fully believe in demonic spirits.  I have actually helped in casting one.  But that was my first and probably my last time I would do that.  After the casting, my own household was challenged by the efforts of a demon.  Good thing for me, my spiritual beliefs were stronger than any intentions of the demonic spirit.  I was never once afraid, just armed with the Holy Spirit.

So, hats off to you Dr. Phil!  Excellent job!

But that was my first and probably my last time I would do that.  After the casting, my own household was challenged by the efforts of a demon.  Good thing for me, my spiritual beliefs were stronger than any intentions of the demonic spirit.  I was never once afraid, just armed with the Holy Spirit.

This is great advice.  After the casting, unless you are strong in the Lord, they just keep coming back, don't they?  The best thing to do is to read the bible every day, pray and learn how to put on the full armour of God so that you may stand when the day comes when you need to.

Terri Please!!!! Get real!!

Quote From: tad1963

To everyone who thinks that they are cursed: (as in bad luck stuff)

You were born in the United States, one of the wealthiest countries in the world.  You have a home, food in your refrigerator, electricity, heat and/or air conditioning in your home, you have many changes of clothing, a job, a car and money to spend on useless items.  Go to another country, look at the people that have no food to eat, no job, no house, no change of clothes, no clean water to drink, no health care, no doctors to visit when they are sick.  And you complain because you had a bad day.  The people who live in poverty, thank God every day that they are alive to love and care for their families and friends.

I think of the parents who sell their children for food, and you whine that you are cursed!  We are a greedy nation and want everything perfect.  Life is not perfect!!!! Life is what you make of it.  There are tradgedies and trials in life, that does not mean you are cursed.  You choose to look at the bad things in your life, not the good!  For people who are "cursed" with bad luck, change your attitude, look at the good things in your life, not the bad!

As for being "cursed" in the evil spirit or in cases of possession, I do believe that can happen.  It doesn't happen every day, but evil is around us trying to turn us from God.  I believe you can open yourself up to evil and once you do it, you sort of fall into a dark way.  If you look in the Bible, it does talk about evil spirits, Jesus exorcised people who were possessed, He was even tempted by Satan himself, but Jesus turned away from temptation.  We, being imperfect, have a tendency to grap ahold of the temptation and run with it.  Then we find ourselves in trouble and then we cry that we are cursed.  YOU DID IT TO YOURSELF.

Living in the light and walking in the path of faith is a tough road but well worth the struggle.

so, these are my thoughts on being cursed.  I know that many people will feel differently but, to each his own.  So next time you get a flat tire, or have a bad day, thank God that you had that flat tire, because you could be living in a third world country deciding whether to sell your beloved child to someone so the rest of your family can eat or keep your child and watch your children starve to death.

Thoughtfully submitted,

Terri

Hi Terri,

I am sure that you are an intelligent and responsible person, but why do you have to leave this country to see any of the proverty you reffered to???  If you are an american an live in the United States, then you are severely mislead to think that everyone here has all the stuff you say we all have.

Visit any Native American Indian reservation of which there are over 500 in the United States alone, and you will find proverty at it worse.  I should know I live there.  Poverty, suicide, murder, drugs, and a multitude of other evil things reside on the reservations.  We are America's biggest kept secret and even most Americans are unaware of the truth out here.

So tell me about being poor, having no hope, being pushed down till you are already 12 feet under when you are born.  Come and visit, visit I say because there are very few who could survive out here and most probably yourself.  Take a chance though and check it out.

01/05 "Am I Cursed?"

Quote From: xphantomx

this is a very hard topic to discuss because people will believe what they want to believe and no one is going to convince them otherwise (including me, including Dr. phil, including his guests!).

Personally, I don't believe in curses, hexes, demons or anything like that. What I believe is that there are some houses, some objects, some vehicles that are just bad. They have imprints in them from bad things that have happened. Murder, abuse, etc. There is so much negative energy that sensitive people can be effected by it. If this ever happens to you, move out of your house, sell your car, and don't go near it again. It's not worth it.

You don't believe in curses yet you think sensitive people can be effected by negative energy.  You believe that bad things have imprints on objects, and people who are sensitive can be effected by these objects because somehow they are the ones who end up buying them. It just must happen that they purchase the bad objects and insensitive people purchase the good ones? Sounds like a gambel that I am not willing to take-- i think i will quit buying things.

I know

Quote From: geminiz

back to the subject of being cursed........
I know what the subject is, I was reading through posts and came to the one that I responded to becasue I felt I needed to.  Many people on this board are talking about religion and this particular one was so far off base that I couldn't just let it go. I am not the only one who responded to it.  That is all.

Should Christians Practice Exorcisms?

This is my own personal thought and view. I don't believe True Christians should practice Exorcism. I have scriptural reason why and if anyone is interested please email me at tasiawarnke@hotmail.com. I believe that the information I have will help relieve anyone who has suffered from this sort of event in any way and give you peace of mind.

I watched the show today about the curses/hexes, etc.  I believe I may be 'cursed', but not do to emotional problems.  Back in July, I awoke with strange mark on my chest.  I showed my friends and family members, nobody has ever seen anything like it.  I showed it to a doctor (not mine) and he thinks it was from a button, but that is not the case.  See for yourself.  If anyone has any ideas where I can get an answer, please advise.  I wish I could blame it on emotional problems or think positive, but I don't think Dr. Phil would know either.  Thank you

Email me and we will see what it is - Amen?  And yes you're right, he wouldn't know...

Theology

Quote From: grayhaven

If I remember corectly the study of Theology is the study of Religion's, that's right, with an 's. I am glad to know that there is some school someware that is teaching one sided Religion out there then sending people out thinking that they are well versed Theologans. If you read Genisis 1:26,27,28 you will see that man was also created before the garden of eden in like image to God. Then the garden of eden was created and Adam and Eve conciquently. Who were those other people? Eden was also planted in the East. Since it all started in the "East" shouldn't you have some "Eastern Thinking"? Why would people want to follow a God who right off the get go broke one of his own 10 Commandments? In Genisis  2:17 God said "You must not eat the fruit to that tree; if you do, you will die the same day". Seems to me that Adam and Eve lived quite a long time after they ate that fruit, Thank your Heaven that your god was merciful or Christianity would have stopped there. As I said before I am well versed in many religions, not just my own. Please don't think I am attacking the Christian faith as I am not. In fact I think that it is a very kind and respecting group most often than not, and if it is the right path for someone Great! Just please don't take it so far as to alienate other culture's with "fundlamentalist" thinking. We all need each other to survive on this plannet, so let your beliefs be enough and other's beliefs be enough for them.

First of all webster defines theology as: 1 : the study of religious faith, practice, and experience; esp: the study of God and of God's relation to the world 2 : a theory or system of theology

If you read correctly the word is "God's" referring to his relationship to the world -this is ownership of what he is doing, his action.

I think you will find that most colleges that are primarily for the study of theology will teach most of the time on the beliefs of that religion and/or sect. It's normal.

As far as me studying different religion's - yes I have. I may not have as complete an understanding of certain religions as yourself but I hae studied writings, watched videos, talked with members of different religions, and visited religious centres of worship. This was done at the college that I attended.

When reading the Bible you must read it as any other historical book knowing that it is impossible to understand without looking at such things as: the language it was written in, who it was written by, to whom it was written, the time period it was written etc.... One of the most important things is to read it in Chronological order. Like any writer today, a piece of literature can jump back and forth as it is remembered and/or recorded by the writer or author.

Try reading in this order:

Genesis 1: 1-8

Genesis 2: 5-6

Genesis 1: 9-26

Gebesis 2: 7-25

Genesis 1: 27

Genesis 5: 2

Genesis 3: 20

Genesis 1: 28-31

Genesis 2: 1

John 1: 3

Genesis 2: 2-3

Exodus 20: 11

Could you imagine if there was a second "6 days" in exodus or a second creation in John chapter 1 which chronologically takes place approximately 4000 years after the garden of Eden?

As far as other people, there may be some, when the bible says that "...the sons of God came in unto the daughters of man.." (Genesis 6:4). Many people have a different interpretation of what this scripture means but I don't think that it has any relevance to this issue.

Eden was also planted in the East. Since it all started in the "East" shouldn't you have some "Eastern Thinking"?

I am not even going to answer this because it makes absolutely no sense. It sounds like you are just ranting and raving!

In Genisis  2:17 God said "You must not eat the fruit to that tree; if you do, you will die the same day".

To throw a little twist in things - Yes, they did die that same day!

You see when God gave them life in Genesis 2:7, he breathed on them. He gave them physical and spiritual life. He also gave them, as he gives us today, free choice. God communed with them in the garden of Eden until they disobeyed of their own free will. When this happened, he stopped communing with them, kicked them out of the garden, and set an angel there to guard the entrance.

The tree of life (the second tree named in the Bible) gave them eternal physical life but once they disobeyed they were kept from eating it. So, physically, you're right, they did not die that day, but they were cursed and died eventually outside of the garden of eden. But spiritually, they died immediately as their close relationship with God was terminated.

If you read John 20:22 you will read about Jesus (who is the embodiment of God, Colossians 2:8,9) breathing on the disciples and saying "Recieve ye the Holy Ghost". Up until then man was alive physically but dead spiritually but since Jesus had become a perfect sacrifice he had made a way for a connection and communication to be made between God and man again. And it was when he breathed on them. When he breathed into Adam the breath of life in the garden of Eden, Adam was created with a spiritual connection (life) in place.
