Dr. Phil revisits some of his most amazing stories of the season. First, Tim and Anne Marie were desperate to save their mother, Sylvia, who was constantly talking to the voices in her head. After 10 weeks of treatment, see the inspirational turn Sylvia has taken. What will she say when she meets Dr. Phil face to face? Then, just over a month ago, two women told Dr. Phil how they fell victim to alleged con man and bigamist Ed Hicks. See how their story helped another woman and brought Hicks into police custody. Plus, 18-year-old Natalee Holloway disappeared last May during a senior class trip to the island of Aruba. Dr. Phil is joined by Natalee’s mother, Beth, her lawyer, and a consultant to the Aruban government who defends the work of the investigators. Have there been new revelations since the last time Beth appeared on the show? Could rescuers be on the brink of finding the missing teen? Talk about the show here.

Find out what happened on the show.

Face it America they don't live by our rules

Let's face it. They do not live by our rules. The girl is gone. Sure as parents they should do everything possible to find out about their child but I am tired of the attention the media is giving this case. All because she is a wealthy blond hair blue eyed American.

You don't go into another country and expect them to treat you as if you are still in America.

There are many children missing here on our own soil that doesn't even get one day on the front page let alone 6 months. Why doesn't the media put more attention on things we might be able to do something about?

I just don't get it. What makes Natalee so special? I am a mother I love my children more than life itself but I don't expect the world to stop turning should something happen to them.

Besides, I would not send my child into another country in the first place and if I did I would understand that it was at my own risk. I would not expect the National Guard to accompany my child.

God bless Natalee's family but keep it in the family and stop the media attention,

Brenda

Quote From: pandj21599

Dr.Phil, Just a heads up!!! i was on my honeymoon in aruba and yes the natalie halloway case was big but hush, hush to tourists (supposely) my husband and i went on a snorkel cruise and when i asked the bar tender if he knew about this his answer was OH YES SHE WAS ON MY BOAT two days prior to her disappearing she was wasted.. the drinking age in aruba is 16 also we went to carlos and charlies where she was last seen someone at that bar was asking if we wanted ecstasy the 'sex Drug" so lets see two places my husband and i went she was seen drunk beyond belief they had to help her off the boat. Carlos and charlies is a drunk, drug haven. our belief was after leaving aruba was she got drunk was slipped ecstasy ? and the rest is history but what made me scratch my head was when i asked if the crew was questioned they said never that just seemed bazaar. Furthermore who would ever let thier young daughter go to the netherlands that was the first mistake. I tell you whole heartedly i know more from going for 8 days than the authorities investigated in months. I hope they find her but if she was by the light house i think she is gone.
Interesting comments.  Its possible she was drunk. So what? That does not give anyone the authority to commit crimes against her.  Also, I think it would be hard to believe some of the Arubans because after all, this is there lively hood. (tourism) I also wonder what you mean by the rest is history?  What is the rest?  There have been no answers.  I hate to say it, but I too believe Natalie is gone.  I just find it appalling that they could not solve this yet.  I also lay blame at the feet of Jorans father, who I think is far more involved than most think.  Sad situation.

Regarding Angry

Quote From: amiricen

Im so angry at people like nanjai, the aruben gov, and S.Cohen,

You havent a clue!  Its a wonder you all operate and/or breath!  Why Dr. Phil are you and your panel even allowing a "tourism puke" to answer questions. Hes paid to subdue you into spending us dollars in aruba.  Stop the money and theyll treat you like honey!!!  I believe/hope she is alive.   Until those terrorists go to one of our prisons, Ill never rest and neither will the H's

Don't waste your precious energy on this negative emotion!  Copy me.  I'm going to Google.com getting the Aruba tourism email address, copy it on an email to all the email addresses in my address book and urge them to "write" to that address and express "sadness" in their lack of concern for Ms. Holloway disappearance.  Then email that to all in your address book and suggest that they do the same.  Did you know that a website can crash if too many emails come in, ask FEMA.  Channel your energies into something that will yield results and smile when you go to sleep at night, knowing that you did something good for someone in need. I did this the first time Natalie's mom came on Dr. Phil.

re: natalee halloway

Dr.Phil,

I have been following this case from the very beginning to the point of somewhat becoming obsessed. Maybe this occurred due to the fact that my daughter and I  were in Aruba 6 weeks prior to this nightmare. We were to return to Aruba this spring for vacation, and next year for a senior trip with the girls, but we are boycotting Aruba , as should every other American.

Bottom line is this....rules sometimes need to be broken. Each circumstance is different, but someone somewhere needs to break the law if needed, and arrest these boys NOW!!!!!!! Put them in jail, let them rot and believe me, one of them will start talking.  Change the rules, make an addendum, due whatever needs to be done. If anything they should be accountable right now, since they admitted that they were the last to be seen with her. I believe they are all guilty or by now one or two of them would have pointed the finger to single the other out. My heart aches for her mom and family. I just can't imagine, nor do i ever want to know what it feels like. I applaud you for not letting this tragedy get swept under the carpet. Pease stand by your word, and continue your generous help for the Halloway family.

My thanks to you,

Susan

Regarding Laws in Other Countries

Quote From: johnk3493

There is crime all over the world,  People have to be safe no matter where they go.

In Turkey  For stealing or DUI first time, cut off finger, second offense cut off hand, third offense time dead.

In Some countries for infidelity, they cut off the Head in Public.

Just Laws,Behaviors,Culture, People are different in the world.

TC  John

Bluntly put, knowledge is power.  Had Natalie or her mom or the school known that tourist women must be more on their guard, maybe a trip would not have taken place or more precautions taken. Once the laws of the country are known, tourist act accordingly.  This was not the case, now it is known,

from watching Dr. Phil, bars target young women for nefarrious happenings.  This one got out of hand maybe and no one wants to admit that.  In some countries, women are treated as property, maybe this is the case here as seen from the results. Steer clear of Aruba until they make up their mind!

01/19 Follow-ups

First of all, let me say that I am truly sorry for the incredible amount of anguish that this family has had to endure. The pain of not knowing must be absolutely unbearable. Coming from the heart of a mother of a seven year old beautiful daughter, I can't even begin to understand.

However, with all of the information that has been flying around about this case, I am surprised- especially surprised at you, Dr. Phil, for neglecting one major fact in this case. We have all been teenagers, and the majority of us have graduated high school. We have all known that "I'm 18 and I know what's best for me" stage of our lives, and I'm sure that most of us would agree a good 10+ years later that, guess what, we didn't know at 18 what we thought we did...we don't even know now. I keep seeing these headings that Natalee was on a "school trip" in Aruba. Tell me, why do 18 year olds go to Aruba? Or Cancun, or Jamaica, or the Bahamas, or Cabo, etc? We all know the answer: They go to drink to their hearts content and live a lifestyle that isn't permitted here in the US, or maybe just under their own roof. They go so that they can party their way through vacation, not remembering a single moment of the thousand dollar vacation that their parents undoubtedly paid for. And here's the scary thing: when you live a lifestyle like that, you open yourself up to so many vulnerabilities-especially as a young woman. When you're completely inebriated and surrounded by 18 year old men who, quite frankly, are just lurking around waiting to "get laid", you are in an incredibly scary situation.

As parents, we need to take a stand in protect our children- and sometimes that means standing in their way. I understand that Natalee was 18 years old and a high school graduate, and to an extent it wouldn't matter what warnings her parents could give her, but on the other hand, I doubt that she paid for this expensive trip by herself. We as parents always need to be one step ahead of our children.  I'm sure that no one would find it appropriate if they knew their children were getting drunk or high or sleeping around at home- why let them go out of the country to a place where you knew that's all they were going to do- even if (especially if) your child was NOT one to partake in those types of activities normally, but if you knew thats all that would be going on around him or her? I am not at all trying to shame Natalee or any memory of her, but we do know that she was last seen heavily drinking, and it doesn't matter if you are an 18 year old woman or a 50 year old woman, puts herself in a really scary situation when they can no longer control their circumstances. I just think that we all as parents need to be more proactive in teaching our daughters about this (and our sons, too). It is not an island country that is the perpetrator here; there are sketchy people out there, and when we surround ourselves by people who are full of alcohol and constantly looking for a good time, we put ourselves in a very dangerous situation.

THANK YOU someone for bringing up the point that she was constantly wasted and possibly on drugs. I completely agree that just because someone is drunk or drugged does not give anyone the right to commit a crime against them-and it does not put Natalee to blame for anything that happened to her- but HELLO, these things happen- many times to girls who are completely sober and living a good, moral life!!! When we surround ourselves with people who are constantly doing drugs, completely drunk, and/or sleeping around, we put ourselves in a scary and DANGEROUS situation-especially if we are under the influence of any of these things ourselves. The same case goes for being out at clubs until 2 in the morning so drunk that we can't remember it the next day. There ARE creeps in the world looking to take advantage of any situation out there!!! That's where wise decision making in the first place comes in.

I've been to three.  You have many valid points in your commentary. This sends a chilling message to parents--wait for those experiences that may prove dangerous to youths with immature decision-making skills.  While in the three foreign countries, I did not drink, was with a group of about eight at night ( put myself on a curfew) and listened to that little voice in my head when something did not seem right.  I was an adult in all three experiences which might just say that decision-making skills were a bit more developed than in my youth. I'll put Natalie's family on my prayer list.

sylvia

i haven't had the time to read any discussion threads about this show.  the sensitivity and real help that was afforded by the show to ann marie and her brother tim touched me deeply.   i don't know why -- i don't usually participate in the after-show commentary.

honestly, the show has been getting on my nerves with all of its "give aways" and stars as experts.  however, today's show is the kind of show that returns to the warmth and compassion -- the things that made me a dr. phil fan ini the beginning.

sylvia's children were near breaking down... and what would have happened then?  that would be a real horror.

and i ain't never going to aruba.
